The “shut shut shuttity up-up-up” is probably a reference to the creative ways that Capaldi’s Malcolm Tucker character swears on ‘The Thick of It’
Yep, particularly this one. NSFW. ruclips.net/video/s-G6EIB1_RI/видео.html
When they enter the Private Vault, there is a red & yellow cardboard spaceship under glass that the camera pans past slowly. The episode director's son made that for his dad when he heard he was doing a Doctor Who episode. It really was one of the greatest treasures in the universe! Not 100% sure I have the details right, but watch the scene when they first enter the vault - the toy model is on screen for the for several seconds
The "I was going for minimalism but ended up with magician" line is probably inspired by an interview Capaldi had with Craig Ferguson, waaaay before he was even named as the Doctor. He had a more conventional suit jacket but the lining was very similar to 12's. ruclips.net/video/atijWqBG7Vw/видео.html
I'm with you, Paula. The transition from Smith to Capaldi was fairly smooth for me and I really liked his dynamic with Clara a lot more! One of the reasons I love this show so much is because it frequently changes things up. And I was also excited that it was the heist episode only a month after you reacted to the Rick and Morty heist!
Great video as always!
Peter Capaldi is my favorite doctor. Love how professorial he is with Clara
Always an episode I look forward to when I rewatch the show. Love the moments where it almost seems like the Dr is being “heartless” but really he had the biggest heart of all so everyone made it through… except the guy in the beginning
And the rest of the people in the bank at the time probably died as well (as they possibly didn't have an escape ship) -- but it's still good!
Notice Paula took this transition so much easier than Eccleston ,Tennant and Smith. Annnd she actually likes Clara now !
I took this one easier too and I put it down to the phone call scene. Capaldi is almost the opposite of Smith but they emphasise that he’s the same person so heavily in deep breath that I almost believe it
@@zeke8921 That and Smith's final speech about how change is good and we're all different people all through our lives. There's a lot of effort put in to making sure the viewer feels comfortable that it is still the Doctor.
It strikes a very different chord, particularly to Tennant's departure where he describes regeneration as if he dies and another man walks away. I always felt like that was a mistake because it would make the next Doctor so much harder to accept as the same man, especially for little kids.
Yeah most of my female friends(that watched it) took forever to accept Capaldi and they all hate clara. Never understood why
It took me until series 9 to enjoy Capaldi at first, the difference from Smith to him was a bit jarring for me but now Capaldi's my favourite Doctor.
One of the sleeper hit episodes in the series!
Can you spot all the references in the episode?
For me, only thing missing is someone saying "You son of a b#@%! I'm in!"
A fun caper. I really like the design of the Teller. So, hypothetically, what's the most boring possible date Danny could have taken Clara on after this? Thimble Museum? Performance Art piece where you literally watch paint dry? A film called The Boring World of Niels Bohr in Danish with subtitles?
Love the story arcs.......but a really GREAT standalone....very enjoyable
Time Heist. Another underrated episode. Also in my top 20 !!!
A jolly romp with ‘Team Not Dead’! Although could the Doctor’s ‘call me’ gesture to Karabraxos be any more menacing?
Great episode! I think the Teller is such a cool looking alien, one of my faves! Thanks ladies as always ☺️❤️ Katrina, loving the eye makeup! 👍🏻
This episode made comics canon.
Love it!
After the intense creepiness and emotional character drama that we got with "Listen", it makes sense to follow things up with a more light-hearted romp like this. "Time Heist" may not be perfect - it retreads a lot of familiar tropes that have been covered in previous Moffat episodes, and the villain is rather lacklustre - but much like "Robot of Sherwood", this is just loads of fun to watch. Capaldi once again shines in this episode, as he proves yet again that he can excel just as much with a straightforward adventure story as he can with a moody intimate character drama. The guest characters Psi and Saibra are fun supporting characters, with interesting backstories and abilities, and are played very well by their respective actors, to the point where I'd honestly be very happy to see them again, while Keeley Hawes gives a great performance as the episode's main antagonist. The Teller is a pretty cool impressively designed monster (and one that's achieved practically I might add - there's no CGI there), and the revelation of its true nature is actually pretty solid, and doesn't deflate the tension of the story like the similar reveal in "Hide". And the direction is stellar, Douglas MacKinnon provides a wealthy abundance of cool shots and slick transitions that really play up the heist-movie aesthetics, which is helped along by the jazzy score. Five really strong episodes in a row for series 8, that has to be one of the strongest opening runs for any series of the show
Absalom Daak is now canon! We really should get a whole Absalom Daak spin off show. after the last few years we deserve a show about a spaceman hunting Daleks across time and space.
I always find it odd that Moffat is associated with killing characters that when they live it's a surprise - he's the originator of "Everybody lives!" I mean, they physically die in Silence/Forest but not entirely. In fact, during the RTD era no one actually fully dies in a Moffat episode (apart from old age).
-----
Also, curious twist considering what happened in the MCU this week. There were plenty of people who associated that with Bad Wolf, but it happens here too!
I think what makes transition smoother is also exprience, you lived through a few and know it's going to be alright.
Loved that there were so many videos to watch ... Annoyed that I binged too many too fast and now I have to wait for new episodes ... Oh well, guess I've got something to look forward to now 😅
Welcome to Abraxas Bank that is allegedly unbreakable. However The Doctor and Clara are going to test this theory by not remembering who they are
I must admit not liking this episode until the end the whole time I was thinking why would the Doctor be doing this? This doesn't make sense, something's up then that ending came and I went oh! I like this episode now, well played Moffat, well played!
Yes, Heist Stories well done are really great fun to watch! I'd like to reccommend the british show "Hustle". It will absolutely fulfill all of your needs! 😀
You beat the creature by not giving away any guilt
"Robbin' a bank. Robbin' a whole bank. Beat that for a date" - Twelve
Keeley Hawes! 😍
And I love Psi & Saibra as heist buddies/companions #TeamNotDead 💙💙
Time Heist...Isn't that what they should have called Avengers: Endgame?
Scott watched this episode and got inspo😂😂😂
Not the only line they took from Doctor Who! :D
Steven Moffat was known for his mindfucks. His son is a physicist and designed his episodes to mimic his style
If Paula isn’t a noob anymore, what is she? An intermediate? An Ensign? I have no idea.
An unmentionable.
A Whovian.
Not a noob... maybe a little noob-ish?
I never hated Clara, but I liked the Oswin incarnation before she became a companion the best.
Victorian Clara was the best
@@JohnnyLCob Invented fish because she disliked swimming alone.
@@Will-nn6ux eh?
@@JohnnyLCob She said she had done that to the children she was looking after in The Snowmen.
I could 100% see Keeley Hawes as the Doctor. Fantastic in everything she's done.
"She wanted to be normal"
"Everybody has a weakness"
I love how much of a throwaway line that is, but it's quintessential Doctor Who: never be afraid to be a little weird or abnormal.
Star Trek and new Doctor Who are so much alike! Capaldi is my 2nd favorite New Who Doctor, behind Eccleston!
Great reaction, I love every moment of this episode
Peter was a fan before, during, and after playing the Doctor. Its a damn shame he doesn't see himself ever doing it again...
Changing the Doctor has always been the plan to explain why they change the actor who plays him
I remember when this season first started, I had just finished watching seasons 1-7 for the first time right before this season debuted, so Capaldi was my first up-to-date Doctor. ngl, I remember REALLY not liking most of this season, especially Capaldi in the first half, things like: Matt Smith saying "I will always remember when the Doctor was me" and then Capaldi immediately forgets (yeah it gets fixed but it still hurt and I couldn't help feeling like Clara in that moment), the Doctor telling people to trust him and lying to them right before sending them to their deaths (like in Into the Dalek and this one), whereas Matt Smith's Doctor was (generally) care-free and childlike, Capaldi just hit me as careless, at least early on. I'm still getting some of that, but I'm definitely enjoying it a lot more than I did the first time through
Matt Smith's Doctor was manipulative, but at least he seemed kind at the same time, Capaldi's Doctor is manipulative and it seems like he doesn't care
yay its my favourite day, more Gallifrey gals! ^-^
You know, the actress who played the bank manager could have played Missy. That was a possibility...
"You Son of a Bitch .. I'm In!" 😆
Great reaction and from what has been said, the next 2 episodes are going to have very interesting reactions!
This is one of my favorite episodes! I hope you like it :)
Great Reactions to what I thought was a very good Episode.
Black spaghetti on top of the head look?
Another quality cat heist video!
You sunuva cat. I'm in.
She's a shapeshifter
This is such an awesome fun episode! (But I just wanna say: Sy is so cute! Like damn)
Really enjoy this one
Love that episode!!
Clara got a bad start because of the 'Mary Sue' aspect of the character added to that of being 'the most important person in the universe' that 'Nu Who' is getting to be infamous for. Besides, she paid for her hubris in being half the Hybrid in the end... kinda, sorta....
Paula is too clever for Who. She saw the whole thing coming and still enjoyed the episode good for her ☺️
Re: Now top that for a first date
I didn't like Capaldi at first, because I was so attached to Smith (he's my favourite), but he quickly grew on me. And the stories are also top notch as well.
Off topic, because I'm new and just don't know: what is the reason for not shaving your armpits? Just a random personal choice, or something more specific?
Before this series aired, many episodes leaked. I remember watching this months before release and there were only very basic CGI. It was such a weird watch
Why does The Doctor hate the Architect?
Okay, I might need to rewatch these episodes because like Katrina, I remember really not liking them, but watching these edited versions, they seem a lot more enjoyable.
*When are you guys reacting to Rick and Morty season 5?*
All their Animated reactions post on RUclips one week after they post on Patreon. They recorded and posted the season premiere last week on Patreon, so it should post to You Tube this week.
The fact they didn’t even try and disguise the fact everybody was actually teleported and didn’t even die. I mean at least bad wolf had people leave dust behind

I've put this one off because I'm not that into the Moffat era, it's all exposition because the plot is too clever by half. How can you question a plot that goes by at lightning speed with deceptions in it. I like the actors, Clara is fine, kind of like Romana.
First?
Yes.
Hot take alert: worst episode of this series. But I love this series so that's not saying much.
Wait, to be as vague as I can, what about the moon one and the tree one? This at least made sense.
@@Skeezer66 I love the moon one, the moon one is great and all its haters are wrong. The tree one is weaker but I have a soft spot for it and appreciate the poetry it was reaching for, Time Heist doesn't seem especially concerned with being About Something so it's not really my bag when it comes to Doctor Who.
