I saw one of your water feature videos today for the first time and was super psyched about that (was going to subscribe just for that). Then I binge watched all your homestead videos and got excited because I dream of having my own property like that one day to garden and build tiny houses. You've combined a lot of my interests into one amazing channel. Now if only you had videos on rockhounding and arrowheads... JK 😸 Seriously though, you have a beautiful family and some great content so I'm looking forward to whatever comes next for you on this journey. ✌️
That’s so cool! If I find any any arrow heads I’ll showcase them. I’m so excited about the potential this property has. Hopefully someday I can have some real progress to show off.
You're a great dad! Tire swings were a fun part of our childhood. Are you going to try to destroy the poison oak at the root? We have a major issue with poison ivy. I'm constantly cutting it back but every year it comes back and then spreads. I was told not to burn it as it can be very dangerous to the respitory system. Looking forward to seeing all the changes you're going to make.
Keep rocking. It’s hard I know, I was there. It will get better. Just think all that you are learning your kids one day may need to pick your mind when they get there home.
We don't have poison oak in Australia but we do have other annoying plants. The painter suit is a brilliant idea, well done maybe duct tape your ankles and wrists to stop gaps, it's what I do when I I have to deal with stinging nettles
Just want to say ... So Proud of You, Keep Up Great Work. Loved Hearing Your Kids Laughing. Thanks for Sharing Your Adventures✌️♥️🍀 Chris and Rick From Chicago ♥️
@@travisjantzer it just takes time, inch by inch. I've got an old house in town on two lots that were a gravel pit and a raggedy ditch. Now 18 fruit trees, hazelnuts, currants, raised beds, a labyrinth, birdhouses, chickens, bees, countless flowers, shrubs and all done in a lazy man permaculture maybe fashion. Plus redoing the house. I have to look at photos I took when we got here 8 years ago to remind myself what I've done.
Yea all that is exactly the plan. I'm proud of the work we've already done. I actually really enjoy all the projects. I just wish I wasn't so held back by Government and Money. That problem isn't exactly unique to me though. haha I JUST recently got good word on my septic system and it should be getting installed in July.
As a fellow Rogue Vallian I have Poison Oak all over my property. Actually my puppy ran through it and spread it to me so I’ve got the sores on my legs while watching this. I’m not a big fan Roundup but when it comes to poison oak I do. 👍
@@travisjantzer loved your waterfall table, recognized the mountains behind you right away. We got lucky in the Almeda, burned to the bottom of our hill. 😬
@@travisjantzer Oof yeah, it was super itchy for me for like a month. Super hot water felt really good on it and staved off the itch for a few hours. Also, Tecnu extreme poison oak soap scrub actually helped prevent it from resurging as well once I discovered it. Every tool that was used to remove the oak needs a deep cleaning with degreasing soap too, wash the clothes a few times. Who knew the roots / stems splattered so much of the urushiol.
Ive used that tecnu stuff before. I'm definitely not thorough enough on cleaning tools and clothes. I also wonder if I'm getting it from my Dog and Kids. Fortunately my kids (who wander through it all the time by accident) have not really had any reaction at all. My 4 yr old had the smallest little rash on her arm, it looked like two mosquito bites. Very lucky they're not super allergic.
Loving that swing! One thing you may already know...if you will wrap the rope where it goes around the tree..(old fire hose is awesome for this...or even old garden hose) it will keep from partially killing the branch of the tree that supports the swing...the water and food mechanisms for the tree are right under the bark, and the movement backand forth of swings can do a lot of damage over time. But there is nothing else in the world like an awesome swing. Y'all are such good parents. And having the grandparents so close....you will never regret it.

Lovely seeing your wife and kids smiling. Makes a man do a lot of work to see that.
I use a product called tecnu to clean up after poison oak exposure. It seems to work well to clean off you tools too. Good luck!
Hopefully you get that well figured out soon.
"How do you get up there?" reminds me of my lil ones when they were that age. so cute
i personally would just nuke small sections at a time of the areas with poison oak.
So where do you get the metal blade?

Thanks so much! I'm glad you guys appreciate what I'm doing :)
Oh, your kids are gonna have SO much fun, and make so many great memories, on that swing!
I think so too! They already love it
the start of an amazing property.
hopefully.

Yea since I got it cut down it’s been very manageable. Still hate it though.

so excited to see the vision come to life over the next couple of years
I know, I'm super excited.
Ughhh I took out one poison oak plant in one of those suits and got it all over my arms … the worst!!! I can’t imagine that much of it.
Ive had an ongoing rash since we moved here that just keeps resurging. Its annoying but I'm alive. haha
