Seeing the photos of the Norwegian Expedition and the comparison with the shot at the end made me all teary eyed :D It's awesome to see what Humans can do
These people do such important work for the rest of mankind, yet they are also underfunded, disbelieved and dismissed by so many people in positions of power or have great wealth. And I haven't even mentioned the scientists yet! The crews and scientists on these vessels are the ones who should be household names, celebrated by poor and rich alike, not some athlete who is brilliant at running really, really fast, or able to be really, really accurate from distance to care a goal or points. I mean apart from a small minority, what else have these sports people done for the world as a whole? Ok, some of them support excellent causes and bring attention to them, but what about the disabled scientist who has overcome discrimination and abelism to reach their position in spite of their disability rather than because of it? Or the crew member who was written off as a problem child, but goes on to prove everybody wrong about them by helping to contribute to global knowledge through working on a scientific or exploratory vessel? Why are they not celebrated and lauded and championed and worshipped and rewarded the same way that somebody who can play a sport brilliantly is!?
Thank-you for taking us all along for the ride. The enthusiasm of your teams is contagious. Fantastic. Good luck with your future missions.
