    Wow - I love your drumming style 😃 beautiful and articulate sticking and you sure do have an ear for the sound you’re cranking out. For years my snare has been a Ludwig Supralite 14x5.5 steel snare, but I’ve been wanting to get a maple snare. Back in Oz, my drum teacher is a through and through Sonor guy, although he likes Tamas too. So after I moved here to the US, I finally got my maple snare - and know what?! It’s an Sonor AQ2 14x6 in white marine pearl finish. I just got it yesterday, have tuned it low and tried it out for some pop songs - sounds phenomenal with a proper fat snare thud. My steel snare is also tuned low, but it sounds different and seems better suited to rock’n’roll songs or pop songs where I need it to cut through layers of keyboard synths and vocals. My drum teacher back home is thrilled and says the Sonor responds well to a wide range of tuning, but for now I’m leaving it in low tune so I can switch snares to suit the song. Love your review, and once more - absolutely love your drumming style, @yaahnhunterjr

    I recently started playing drums(it has been about 5 months now) and im planning head next christmas where I will most likely upgrade my kit, I got an e drum as my first but 1 month in after learning the basics I got the MAPEX TORNADO, I was thinking of upgrading from the tornado to this AQ2 safari, I really want a sonor kit but I dont want to spend more then 1.2k, my budget is 1k. Im looking to be a full fledged rock/pop drummer

    I have had this kit for a little over a year. Great Demo. Great sound. Its funny the bass doesn’t do the kick justice. Such a great sound from this little kick with stock heads. I tune mine as low as it can possibly go and it holds its tuning well. Curious if you have tried new heads on the snare and toms yet? Not sure what to go with. I have another throw around kit with similar sizes and the closest I could get to this kick sound was Aquarian super kick batter and Aquarian reflector mirror black reso

      I have mine for about 3 years now. Im still with my stock heads and replacing them soon, cant decide which one to go too. Cant find any good sources online for a comparison, only Evans G2 clear for toms and coated for the snare, i find it too flat for the tone. Upload your when you have replaced your :) Thank you!

    another great video.
    Do you have a hole cut out on the the bass drum?
    That difference in sound from the "sub" vs muted kick was dope.

      Thanks a lot man! The stock head doesn't come with a cut out.

      I have two kicks this size. One is a converted floor tom and the other is this sonor aq2 neither has a port. I tried porting and it totally killed the beef. If you do port it try a small hole. Like 3” max

    Hey Yaahn, I just bought the stage set and I have a question. On the snare and toms the " white" drumhead is the beater head and the transparants the resonance heads, right? But on the bass drum it is oposite.
    The transparant is the beater head and the white one with SONOR on it the resonance head

    • @funkymystic
      @funkymystic Год назад

      Yeah that is most often the case, patron batter heads are usually transparent and the redo heads are a solid color

    Did you use a tunebot to tune the kit? If so do you have the tuning you used? Sounds great!

      Thanks a lot! I don’t use a tunebot. I’m working on some content showcasing my tuning strategy!
