One of my favorite memories was watching this at EB Games for the Final Fantasy XII midnight release. It was playing on the TV there while we all waited for midnight to hit. If anyone wants this video on physical, it is included in the FFXII Collector’s Edition for PS2.
After recording this video, the narrator went on to free Richter from Dracula's evil spell and foil his father's evil schemes. Unfortunately, his crusade to keep people from putting PlayStation black discs in CD players failed miserably.
I wonder if Sabin and the Phantom Train were primary selling points for the game.... "HEY KIDS! ever wanted to suplex a sentient runaway train?! NOW YOU CAN!"
I really do appreciate that Square is willing to experiment with every installment of FF. They don't just play it safe, stick with what works, and release the same games with different skins. Sometimes, their experiments work (FF5's job system) and sometimes they don't (FF8's Draw system).
I've played FF2,3,4,10,10-2, and 13. I plan to play the ones I missed at some point. All the ones I did play I enjoyed, but for me Final Fantasy 10 is my favorite. That game made me cry like a baby. Anyone even mentioning it to me causes me to tear up.
Very hard to argue with people's points on here when their views are 98% driven by nostalgia. It's almost impossible to beat someone's sentimental connection to something with logic. I liked all of the Final Fantasy games, so it doesn't bother me. That includes 13, and 12, though I see why people don't like them.
well I agree with you people on here are either driven by nostalgia, which isn't really a problem, but some of them are just complete asses and just say "fuck everyone else my opinion is the truth". I have yet to play all Final Fantasy games (at least the main games i plan to play) but so far i didn't really like 13 that much, the most recent one i played was 6, which I completed yesterday, it was great, but kinda easy xD I didn't have any trouble in Kefka's Tower, maybe I was overleveled, or maybe I just had Insane attacks and weapons, I just beat Kefka like in four or five turns I think and didn't give him time to really damage me a lot
Are you implying that railroading the player into an endless hallway, in a franchise that use to be known for it's vast open worlds, and near limitless ways to play, is not a valid point of contention? I'm sorry XIII just isn't good. It's a decent diversion maybe once, only because of the nifty battle system. But I could never see playing through it again given the complete lack of exploration, customization and even battle tactics. Everything last thing about this game, from beginning to end, is designed to be done one way, and only one way. Which means every play through will be virtually identical. XII was nothing like this. XII had lots of choice and freedom. So, even if it's not my thing, and far from my favorite. I have no problem saying XII was a fine, well designed game full of it's own charm. XIII is all flash, ridiculously shallow and empty.
I just want to say that FF IX is such a fantastic game, almost bigger than life to me... There is so many epic moments in it that MOST of the people doesn't even know.. like when Zidane and Garnet meets for the first time and she is wearing that original white mage robe.. I mean, it has so many references to the previous FFs that the whole game is like a tribute to their own work! FF IX is something where everything just comes together and I think they knew it when they were making it, that it was the last chance to make the game they always wanted and tried to do.. PS2 was coming and times in general were changing.. well anyway, for me a good video game is something like watching a movie or reading a book, it has a story! Games today are WAY too focused on the graphics and playing systems, it is too much! yes, those things are important of course but not that important! For me the story, love and soul are way more important things than any new technologys, techniques or gaming systems what so ever... those things were originally meant to be something that just supports the main story and game in general and now it is technology that plays the leading role.. it is very sad to me and it is shocking to me when I talk to people about these things, but they just doesn't care.. Well, I guess it is what the time we are living in is all about...
People don't care about story in games?! Whaaat- since when?? The whole reason why RPG is so popular is because of the story!! Ib, Mad Father, Dreaming Mary, Ebon Light.... the stories in here can thrill your heart!! ...considering that nearly all of these games have a horror theme.. ahhaha 😅
Two games I love: Final Fantasy Tactics(which I must play again before I die),... and Lunar: Silver Star Story. I've played out the other Final Fantasy games.
Thank you so much for this perfect video on the series!! One of the most pleasant narrators I've ever heard in a RUclips video, details on what made every instalment of the series special and an overall great presentation! Two thumbs up, way up!!
My favorite is FFIV, I could play it everyday for the rest of my life and never get sick of it. One of my top 5 favorites of all time. I wish they would still make new 2D RPG's for the newer systems or at least make them downloadable.
I'd love another original release of IV and VI, much like they did on the Playstation. I could never put FFVI down when I was playing it, and since I'm of the younger generation I've never actually been able to play FFIV on the SNES.
Tom Turtleson I'd like some new games released from those 2 games like they did with Final Fantasy IV The After Years and just kept on making more. Lol I would keep on buying them. Still so much fun
Hi, maybe you already know but there is a sequel to FFIV called "Final Fantasy IV: The After Years" I think it is available on PSP and Wiiware, in both cases for download. hope it helped.
brillopad6901 it could be dangerous you know? look what they did with X-2, and XIII was bad enough, but XIII-2? and now a XIII-3? yeah I prefer VI be as it is right now, I don't want them to ruin something I actually liked

*WARNING THIS POST CONTAINS FINAL FANTASY X SPOILERS* Ummm.. Were you even paying attention to the storyline of FFX? Tidus is NOT sent 1000 years into the future. So many people make this mistake! The narrator didn't want to give away any major plot points, which you did. Not very cool for those who haven't played FFX - especially with the new HD Remaster that just came out for the PS3. Next time, put ** SPOILERS ** or something before your post.
Chris Shepard jconny65 If I spoiled the game for someone then it's their own fault. If you were about to play a Final Fantasy game you've never played before, why would you watch a video called 'Complete History of Final Fantasy'. That's pretty much asking for spoilers. Anyway, just to avoid anymore of these replies I'll edit my original post.
***** Anyone whining about spoilers in a game 15 years old is just a whiny little bitch. Haven't seen "Gone With the Wind"? Scarlet gets left in the end. Did I just spoil a 40 year old movie for you too? Shut the FUCK up.
Yes....yes, it is ok. If you are looking up :the complete history" of something and think there won't be spoilers in a COMPLETE HISTORY for a 15+ year old game....then YOU are the one being a dispshit. Common courtesy says don't spoil anything less than 5 years old, as not everyone gets to buy/see a game/movie when its brand new. But you're talking about games 5 generations old here. No, there's no magical hold forever. Do you know how the Wizard of Oz ends even if you haven't seen it? Of course you do. Its over 15 years old, and anyone claiming to be watching it for the first time is lying, or already has heard about it from parents or the internet. So save YOUR internet warrior bullshit and use common sense (if that's possible).
Linkoln Rivenbark I enjoyed 6's story but I like 5's gameplay better. The job system made it extremely replayable just look at the final fantasy 5 job festa streams.
FF 7 was the best IMO, hours and days of grinding it out, hardest bosses, incredible replay value. Let’s not forget Omnislash slash and knights of the round.
That was very interesting to watch! But I think the video is overdue for an update to include the rest of the games in the series that came out afterwards.
+Lᴇɢᴇɴᴅ ᴏғ CʜʀɪS . That is your opinion than. I liked it. great grapics/great music/atmosphere/batlle system. I know i am the minority here, but stil, i dont understand the hate for ff13.
I consider myself a true final fantasy veteran. I played and finish all the main games, Except for ff3. (and 11 + 14 because you know the are on line). But i do see that my tast is a bit different than the main stream. I mean from the snes era myn favourite ff game is ff5. Yes i like it better than ff6! playstation era ff7/ff9 both superb. ff8....mehh. The weakest of the entire series for me. ps2 era, myn favourite is ff12. So you see that i got an overal different taste in ff games. The most important thing that is for me the most important thing in a ff game is battlesystems/customization. FF5 is higly custimisable (is that a word?), ff7 also. (ff9 NOT so, but the grapics en overal feel made it a winner). ff12 is one of my favourtite ff games. No random batlles and the awsome gambit system. (despite lack of a interresting story and dump main characters, it still the on i love playing over and over). ff 13 did try something new. and i like that about it. I dont want random battles anymore. Sure the were fun back in the day. But not so fun anymore. I actualy liked the story, based on higher powers controling the world behind the scene. (its kinda whats happening right now in the world i ques.) Sure the first 20 hours, i was struggling myself, but after that, with the hunting of the the stones, and getting all the stars in the battles, i was soled. The fighting mechanic made the player a dirigent, a tactical overseeer. and its fast as sh@T!
Konnichiwa Himura-san The game treats the player like an idiot, you don't even have a proper HP bar, the characters that join you are always stronger than you, the story is pretty bad, and the game was made exclusively for the west
As I recall there were some mixups with numbering of some early Final Fantasy games, because some weren't released in the US at first, but were in Japan. Later on, everywhere got all the games, so it's a bit academic now.
Playing FFIII (3D Remake) but I have played I, II, IV, VII, VIII and XIII. The thing I love about these games is that every one is slightly different when it comes to the combat, magic or leveling system also the summons are fucking epic and the fully pre-rendered cut scenes even from the older games were always above their time when it came to game cutscenes.
So basically, Final Fantasy III wasn't released in NA untill much later. What WAS released instead of the real Final Fantasy III was Final Fantasy IV, which was renamed Final Fantasy III in NA. It really is a shame, Final Fantasy III is my favorite Final Fantasy game by far.
Last Order revisits the last few moments of Crisis Core. They end in almost exactly the same place, but Last Order shows much more detail without including the final scene.
meh card system wasn't that good of an addition and Mystic quest was for Newbies to the RPG genre (automatic gameplay hmm where have I heard about it hmm)
It was originally in another series, what we in America call the Mana series. Secret of Mana was the sequel to Final Fantasy Adventure. It was only called that in America because Square thought they'd sell more copies that way.
9 is my "artistic" fav, everything about it is beautiful in some way, it's the game that touches my heart the most. 7 is my go-to FF if I want to do all the extra stuff mixing and maxing materia and stats, the setting and music are awesome alwell. 5 is the game I start always hoping to build a team I've never done before, music is great, but anyway, I usually always en up with mostly the same team, but for customisation at first(playtrough), it is awesome. These are the FFs I've played the most. FF6 and 8 are those I play nowadays if I want to make a low-level game, and maxing my characters as powerful late in game which I find a bit sad you have to do(OCD maybe? :P). keep in mind I have played them all some 10++ times, beaten penance in ffx and all that, so if you're gonna start with anyone, start with 9 imo :D
And so our narrator went to Dracula's castle to free Richter Belmont to free him from Dracula's control by defeating mythical monsters with mythical weapons and to end his reign of evil
It's actually incredibly fascinating to see how the series has evolved :) I didn't realise how far it had progressed within each game! ^^ Really makes you wanna go through every game one by one in order! XD
true Kefka is the one real Villain, although the final boss battle against him was easy for me (damn Ultima spamming and having the 3 best mages on the team at that momment xD)
Rodrigo Nascimento Oh yeah, I'll grant you that mechanically he was a chump. But by then the battles were almost an afterthought to the story. Even after you kill him it's not like things were fixed. They just weren't getting worse.
Dan Zelman i'm not bashing mind you, I'm just saying that for my first time playing it i just wanted to beat Kefka really bad because of everything he did during the game (it's that sort of liking the villain for he being a true villain and hating everything he did) and well I had Terra, Celes, Relm and Locke when I was fighting Kefka after the 3 tiers, hmm let's see... Terra->Mage, Celes->Mage, Relm->Dualcasting Mage... 4 Ultimas plus Locke with Valient Knife with Master's Scroll... yup easy xD
I haven't played after 12 and part of 13 but kefka was probably one of the toughest actual storyline bosses to beat not talking about optional bosses like weapons or tonnberry etc.
It would be a spoiler for anyone who hasn't played the game and doesn't know anything about Final Fantasy. The video was a very surface level overview of each installment. They didn't want to tell everyone too much about each game.
SNES final fantasy games were the best gen Why? Because nobody would say I hate this but like this like ppl do with 7 or 8 or 9 or 10 or 12 or 13 FF4 FF5 FF6 true classics
Jose Garcia I love FF4 because its or its one of my first games I don't remember if I have the nes or the snes in first but FF4 its one of my first game for sure : im sorry if I write some errors I speak french
One of the rare moment where I didn't mind checking out something advertised in a youtube comment. Really interesting stuff and very well made. Any idea when part 3 comes out?
Cid is basically a likeable and slightly cocky engineer and airship owner in almost all FF games, he is just a different person every time. Compare the Cids in FF7 and FF8 and you will quickly realise that they are different persons. xD
For someone using a goblin avatar, I'd expect you to mention the warcraft series soundtracks. The only reason I play without sound is I like to pvp and extra sound in my ears makes it hard to hear rogues and druids stealthing by ;)
MrTheMark21 I agree. That last one I enjoyed was tactics. Then it seemed they focused more on graphics. 6 was so great I don't think it could be topped.
"There's an urban legend that the 'final' in FF meant that this was our last project. While we were having some hard times back then, the truth is that as long as the title could be shortened to FF, any word would've suffice. It was initially going to be Fighting Fantasy, but there was already a boardgame out with the same name." -Hironobu Sakagutchi, Famitsu
shing02 When I was younger I bought a used copy of the collectors edition of 12 for around 10 dollars at game stop. It was worth it, it completely consumed my summer. Plus it had some nice bonuses.
Time truly flys! I remember the very first on my NES. Now i play XIV one of the best mmorpg's in a very long time. So many good ideas throughout the series have been added to XIV, i wager i'll be playing it for years.
People who say "Final Fantasy number __ is my favorite" or "is the best" usually haven't played all the games in the series. What they mean to say is "Final Fantasy 8 is the only game I've ever played", or "Final Fantasy 13 is the best game ever because all I have to compare it to is Imagine: Babies" or "Final Fantasy 10 is the best because all I had was Coleco Vision for 20 years before I got that game"
It happens that I've played them ALL and I still can say FFVI is the best of all, shortly followed by IV, IX and VII. But really, VI is the best. And yes, I've played from 1 to 13 and both tactics, tactics advance and 2... sequels and prequels... all of it.
Cid's first appearance wasn't in FFII, though. In FFI, the elves mention that it was Cid who invented the airship that you use. You never meet him (I think he was dead, haven't played the game in a while), but I know he was mentioned by reputation.
Well it's not the first time a Final Fantasy game has been remake, like Final Fantasy 1 & 2 "8-bit" was remake for Playstation 1 as a "32-bit, then remake again for the second time on PSP" or Final Fantasy 3 "8 bit" was remake for the DS as a "62-bit" or Final Fantasy 4 "32-bit" was remake for DS also as a "64-bit" or Final Fantasy 4 After Years "32-bit" was remake for the IPad also as a "64-bit" & I play them all & they ARE better than the originals so think what you want, you know you WRONG! XP
Lol right? But no. There are some people that played the originals and still have 7 as there favorite. I personally think 7 is overrated, however. Sure its a good FF game. Sure it was the first FF. But, that doesn't mean its the best. To me the FF games that deserve the best FF Title is IV,VI,VIII,and X.
***** It was the first 3d FF, first playstation FF, one fo the first 3d games ever in fact. Though yeah, he's messed up somewhere. Personally VI is my favorite, followed by IX. VIII is one I'm currently playing (just started today) so I can't give an opinion on that yet!
The ones released in the US in their prime, meaning 1,4,6,7,8,9 are the ones I played till I lost interest until MMO's came along. I'd say that according to how they aged and played the order would be from worst to best 8,1,9,7.4.6. The only reason 7 scored 3rd and not second is the fact that the visuals give me a headache to look at. I played it on a small TV when I was young so it wasn't so bad.
Aw nothing about XII? Or XIII? What about XIV and Crystal Chronicles? :c This was still an awesomely informational vid and I enjoyed it. Learned so much!
+han hanson Yes I remember buying it for my little brother so he had a ff game to play and wasnt always trying to snag ff3 us out of my room, and than had to help him learn to play
Slaughterrific i liked 7 the best its the first ff i ever mastered and 4 was the first one i learned how to play 10 was alright i mastered it too but i thought it was too easy especially after you get the celestrial or whatever they are called weapons which break damage limit and can practically kill everything in 1 hit even the final boss which made it really easy now the battle arena monsters was a challenge i beat nemesis like 4 or 5 times he was pretty hard. i may get the HD remaster when it comes out for the ps4 because i heard it is gonna be the international version with new content and harder than the original ff10 now im into ff14 a realm reborn which i like a lot eventhough its pay to play and an mmo but its well worth it i get to play with cool people and my big brother he plays on his pc and i play on my ps4 and its also the first mmorpg i have ever played and is in my opinion the best ff i played since 7 but 12 8 and 9 were pretty good ff13 really disappointed me i didnt like it at all the worst one SE has made in my opinion.i only like the main ones i think the spinoffs and sequels are very lame but thats just my opinion.
7 is my favourite, in my opinion it's the greatest game ever made. No game before or since has demanded so much of my time and attention. I read the review in the official PlayStation magazine in which it got 10/10 and purchased it on release. I've spent thousands of hours playing it over the last 21 years and I'm still playing to this day. It's unlikely there will ever be a game that holds my attention like that for 20+ years.
One of my favorite memories was watching this at EB Games for the Final Fantasy XII midnight release. It was playing on the TV there while we all waited for midnight to hit. If anyone wants this video on physical, it is included in the FFXII Collector’s Edition for PS2.
Yes! I loved having this DVD to watch with FF XII

In. O. O. O . O. O. O. Oo. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O.
9 my absolute favorite, so underrated!
Is Alucard from castlevania voicing this whole thing?
Yes.
"Finally who could forget the cute cuddly moogles". Said the vampire lord.
vampire lords have wqeaknesses too man
Fatal Existence but you won't listen to me anyway...
farewell then. We will not meet again!
I wonder if Sabin and the Phantom Train were primary selling points for the game.... "HEY KIDS! ever wanted to suplex a sentient runaway train?! NOW YOU CAN!"
Important part of my life. Thank you, my friend.

There was a lot about this series that I didn't know about. Thank you! Great vid!
thank you for whoever posted this video
This series has definitely has come a long way. You can see each game's improvements or changes.
His voice reminds me of childhood Christmas movies...

MarxForever i guess you can count a little of freedom with the Crystarium once it opens up to all characters being able to get every roles
King Heir actually it is fact that FFXIII is the worst out of all the main Final Fantasies
Rodrigo Nascimento wow
I watch this every couple months
Final fantasy 8 u rock
Dude. That is a perfect voice for being a narrator. So deep and solid.
I just want to point out how awesome this guy's voice is
This series gives you sooooo many great games! Hours and hours of fun!
I love the final fantasy VII, VIII and IX series
This is amazing! Although I have not played the entire main series yet, I have been a fan of Final Fantasy for more than ten years.

Use to watch this when I was in high school. Good times. Glad it’s been reuploaded.
Thanks for doing this, I was wanting to get the new upcoming FF and I had no idea what was going on but you filled the gap for me!!
Man, I played the heck out of FFI as a kid and never knew about a hidden mini game.
Two games I love: Final Fantasy Tactics(which I must play again before I die),... and Lunar: Silver Star Story. I've played out the other Final Fantasy games.
Final Fantasy XII soundtrack on the intro there, EPIC!
I watch this nearly every night before I go to sleep
I guess you could now call this an incomplete history of Final Fantasy because it doesn't just end after 13
What an epic nostalgia trip!
Thank you so much for this perfect video on the series!! One of the most pleasant narrators I've ever heard in a RUclips video, details on what made every instalment of the series special and an overall great presentation! Two thumbs up, way up!!
+SonataFanatica While it is a great video, it is from the FFXII Collector's Edition. OP just uploaded it to RUclips...
Oh...... okay. Thanks for the info!

Still my favorite mini documentary on the history of FF. Even though we are well beyond FF13. I still enjoy rewatching this.
20:07 for the feels :)
I feel like 2 was so much more advanced then 3, 4 and 5. It feels like they toned them down after 2. I loved the whole memorize thing in 2. Felt like it had more depth.
in my opinion,, 4 was the best.. star wars esque storyline, the twists , musical grande , really really great ending.. I have finished 4,5,6,7,10... Final fantasies were the best at SNES
agreed my man
yeah agree// I like 7 at disc 1.. the dark storyline (jews history related of promised land) , the twist, the music... 5 was also great
The Music which played when FF8 was introduced in this video touched my ♥
Oh look I found the original Selphie. Thank you for this video, I knew absolutely nothing about the Final Fantasy franchise, and had never played them before, so your video filled me in after seeing all the hype for FFVII remake.
Yeah, give one for all parties!! Thank you Knailz I like the summation.
Howcome Sephiroth wasn't mentioned. Hes pretty notorious.
***** agreed
No one, and I do mean no one is more notorious than the Dancing Mad Clown Kefka, now that's a villain I loved to beat to death because of his acts during the story

Anyway, just to avoid anymore of these replies I'll edit my original post.
jconny65 Based on your intellectual response. I'm gonna assume you're about 6 years old. Anyway, have fun.
You're right, there really is something about the older ones (I'm mostly looking at the SNES era here) that just gives you those warm fuzzies.
final fantasy 6 is the best
when you replay old FF games, 6 really does stand out.
Linkoln Rivenbark I enjoyed 6's story but I like 5's gameplay better. The job system made it extremely replayable just look at the final fantasy 5 job festa streams.

Linkoln Rivenbark 6 was pretty dope! Not gonna lie!
FF is one of the few games that doesn't make me feel like I'm sitting with controller in hand, pointlessly
mashing buttons.. *ahem* call of duty..
Kelsey Curles until final fantasy XIII came along
or mouse. cod isn't that bad of a game. it's the cancerous fan base that puts the nail on the coffin
+pallafox FF XIII is one of the best. However it takes to long to get there. Like 20 hours. After that is freaking good game.
The fighting mechanic made the player a dirigent, a tactical overseeer. and its fast as sh@T!
the one bringing me tears is ff8, even if ff7 came 2 years after i was born... now, no mater what, final fantasy 8 is and will stay my favourite one.
what about FF Mystic Quest for the SNES???
+TheMethadoneParty we do not talk about that game
+Jun Kurosu Right plausible denial.
too late Kirby we did but for a brief moment. It is not as horrendous as Secret of Evermore
+Jun Kurosu why? i liked that game
Omg, so many memories
Thank you for taking me walk down memory lane.
FVII Best Game, big and full of stuff, really good history
FX Best History
I agree about Seven. The story was great and the characters was amazing backgrounds. Who's your favorite character? Mine is RedXIII
for sure is Cloud... but obviusly his carring the main story, so, after him, im with you, red xiii and vincent
Cloud is in Smash Bros 4.
Close, FFIV was renamed FFII in NA. FFVI was renamed FFIII for NA.
yeah, thats what I said.
JustYourAverageRetro no it's not lol
JustYourAverageRetro
you'd said FFIV was renamed III, not VI like it actually was.
Oh, your'e right! I didn't catch that. I meant to say VI, but I messed up. ^-^;
Last Order revisits the last few moments of Crisis Core. They end in almost exactly the same place, but Last Order shows much more detail without including the final scene.
this would have been better if it was narrated by Morgan Freeman.
No
@@tonymoretti2347 Morgan Freeman disagrees with you Tony
@@IamChloePrice damn you got me
13 years later and i still watch this documentary from time to time.
You totally skipped over FF VIII's card system and Final Fantasy Mystic Quest
i could od swore mystic quest was ff4????
meh card system wasn't that good of an addition and Mystic quest was for Newbies to the RPG genre (automatic gameplay hmm where have I heard about it hmm)
FF IX THE BEST!
Jorge Guerrero ff7 is the best
FF7 is shit. It was good, but aged poorly. FFIX is my fav.
It's actually incredibly fascinating to see how the series has evolved :) I didn't realise how far it had progressed within each game! ^^ Really makes you wanna go through every game one by one in order! XD
How can you talk about 6 and NOT talk about Kefka?
i agree kefka best boss of all FF
true Kefka is the one real Villain, although the final boss battle against him was easy for me (damn Ultima spamming and having the 3 best mages on the team at that momment xD)
Cant believe Aeris wasn't mentioned in the FFVII part. It's one of the most memorable gaming deaths in history.
It would be a spoiler for anyone who hasn't played the game and doesn't know anything about Final Fantasy. The video was a very surface level overview of each installment. They didn't want to tell everyone too much about each game.
SNES final fantasy games were the best gen
Why?
Because nobody would say I hate this but like this like ppl do with 7 or 8 or 9 or 10 or 12 or 13
FF4 FF5 FF6 true classics
FF4 my favourite!
coolmeno love FF4 first time I finished it as a kid I was like WOW
Love FF4 but that Nintendo DS version is great, now if they could only remake FF6
Kefka actually got away with it
Jose Garcia I love FF4 because its or its one of my first games I don't remember if I have the nes or the snes in first but FF4 its one of my first game for sure
: im sorry if I write some errors I speak french
Final Fantasy 4 was the first Final Fantasy on the Super Nintendo
One of the rare moment where I didn't mind checking out something advertised in a youtube comment. Really interesting stuff and very well made. Any idea when part 3 comes out?
so is Cid a different character each time?
pretty much
Stanley - he's like doctor who. Each incarnation is different, but they all serve the same purpose.
What? Cid might be a neckbeard in a few games but that doesn't mean he has a fanbase full of them.
Cid is basically a likeable and slightly cocky engineer and airship owner in almost all FF games, he is just a different person every time.
Compare the Cids in FF7 and FF8 and you will quickly realise that they are different persons. xD
Stanley - he is an interdimentional shapeshifting lizard
I love how little was said about X-2 and how music from X was used instead of music from X-2.
Holy shit your voice is like butter.
For someone using a goblin avatar, I'd expect you to mention the warcraft series soundtracks. The only reason I play without sound is I like to pvp and extra sound in my ears makes it hard to hear rogues and druids stealthing by ;)
i still love 6
FF3 was released on the DS
to me final fantasy stopped at X.
They haven't made a decent one since..
To me it stopped at VI. I don't mean that they weren't good after, it's just my personal opinion.
MrTheMark21 I agree. That last one I enjoyed was tactics. Then it seemed they focused more on graphics. 6 was so great I don't think it could be topped.
MrTheMark21 I agree, no final fantasy games were made after 6
69reno69 they're less emotional but more playable. 15 had a fair mix of both. It wasn't GREAT, but I put 100 hours in and wasn't completely bored.
"There's an urban legend that the 'final' in FF meant that this was our last project. While we were having some hard times back then, the truth is that as long as the title could be shortened to FF, any word would've suffice. It was initially going to be Fighting Fantasy, but there was already a boardgame out with the same name."
-Hironobu Sakagutchi, Famitsu
what about honorable mention for biggs and wedge? arent they in most of them? lol
true although i think they were the lesser constant appearence (i can be wrong)
You clearly put time and research into this, and I applaud you.
This came with FFXIII Collectors...
JoeTheJRPGManiac
XII
Oh.
shing02 When I was younger I bought a used copy of the collectors edition of 12 for around 10 dollars at game stop. It was worth it, it completely consumed my summer. Plus it had some nice bonuses.
FFIX is the best.
LOL
True
it has a good point you don't use up MP and you can synchronize your magic with your attack hp etc to strenghen up your charakter
the voice scares me
dont play castlevania sotn.
I've played all the Final Fantasy's from the main series and my favorite is IX.
i've played FFIV - FFXIII, VII is my favourite. VII and IX.
It happens that I've played them ALL and I still can say FFVI is the best of all, shortly followed by IV, IX and VII. But really, VI is the best. And yes, I've played from 1 to 13 and both tactics, tactics advance and 2... sequels and prequels... all of it.
played I through X then XII and XIII yet i still love VI,VII,VIII
I'm Commander Sheppard, and Final Fantasy is my favorite JRPG series on the Citadel.
Cid's first appearance wasn't in FFII, though. In FFI, the elves mention that it was Cid who invented the airship that you use. You never meet him (I think he was dead, haven't played the game in a while), but I know he was mentioned by reputation.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake HYPE
Jacob Clements HYPE IS REAL BRUH
Gapil All of you will be disappointed because it won´t live up to the hype nor the original ;)
+felix8709 It is true
XP
+Jacob Clements its not a remake its garbage u fuckin idiot
That was retconned - in the original release of Final Fantasy, the Lufein in general created the airships - they changed it with the re-releases.
I feel like im gonna get a lot of hate for this, but ff12 is my favorite.
You are not alone
Thank god.
Different players liked different ff stories. You should not get hate for liking 12.
What's wrong with that? 12 is awesome! I like it very much myself.
Nothing is wrong, but ive seen plenty of hate towards it, so was simply cautious.
@Lumanare M....I hate to break it to you slick, but FFVII was 3 discs. Last time I checked, 7 came before 8...even in Roman numerals.
Final Fantasy X!!!!!!!!!
The guys voice makes me gall asleep.
+FlyingPenguinBanana I find it calming yes
+Cloud IX To me, his voice is just hilarious.
fall*
And let his fallings, turn to bitterest gall!
Good nut shell explanations, but will never make up for the endless hours that I experience each (and every) one I played.
Ff viii, ff x are my 2 favorite s
Lol right?
SuperDuperCooper08 FF7 is for me best game ever.Rest of FF games are just good
Xolroc Lowell Skip 8
The ones released in the US in their prime, meaning 1,4,6,7,8,9 are the ones I played till I lost interest until MMO's came along. I'd say that according to how they aged and played the order would be from worst to best 8,1,9,7.4.6. The only reason 7 scored 3rd and not second is the fact that the visuals give me a headache to look at. I played it on a small TV when I was young so it wasn't so bad.
Aw nothing about XII? Or XIII? What about XIV and Crystal Chronicles? :c
This was still an awesomely informational vid and I enjoyed it. Learned so much!
The narrator sounds like Alucard.
Andrew Hawes I said the same thing!
I have played several of them, but Final Fantasy 7, 9, and X are my favorite.
Mystic Quest! you forgot Mystic Quest! Doesn't anybody else remember Mystic Quest? No? Well then.... I guess I'll just go away.
Yes Mystic Quest
The Music was hilarious
:D
A.S TV I hope "hilarious" is codeword for "most badass FF soundtrack to date"
+han hanson Yes I remember buying it for my little brother so he had a ff game to play and wasnt always trying to snag ff3 us out of my room, and than had to help him learn to play
and crystal chronicles for gamecube!
han hanson, is that all that you can muster?
Yeah I remember but is a great game. And the soundtrack is so epic. And eons, vivi, the chocobo... Great story...
This was cool, but man you gave no respect to X-2. That was disappointing :(
COOL, I was just watching this from FFXII's bonus disc and the disc was all scratched so i didnt get past FF3. Cool to see it on youtube!
8 had a better stoy and gameplay 7 was ok but 8 just takes them all
8 definitely has the best boss battle out of any of the other final fantasy games
my eyes are gettin teary because FFI came out when i was born. when i was three, i sat down and played final fantasy all day.
X was the best one.
9 was the best one.
x or die. you're all dead to me
+Slaughterrific i liked ff6 best. then 4, then 7.
