  • Textile effluent, laden with a complex array of pollutants including dyes, dissolved solids, suspended solids, and toxic metals, underscores the imperative for the implementation of resilient and efficient treatment technologies to prevent environmental contamination prior to discharge. The inventors have adopted a sequential order of coagulation, biosurfactants (BS), hydrodynamic cavitation (HC), and ceramic membrane (CM) methods to provide a low-cost and environmentally compatible treatment system. Coagulation is used to remove turbidity of the effluents. BS were employed to enhance the bioavailability of organic pollutants and facilitate their microbial degradation. HC, a process involving the generation and collapse of microbubbles in a liquid, is employed for the breakdown/mineralization of complex organic compounds. The surface-modified CM enhances filtration efficiency, ensuring the removal of even finer particles and impurities. The hybrid system, which is at TRL 5, has proven to be effective in treating complex pollutants and marks a significant breakthrough in sustainable wastewater treatment for the textile industry.
