After the ca glue. Get wet or dry sandpaper, 1000, 1500, etc. Wet sand the ring. Then get some car wax and apply. Let dry then buff of car wax and wow! What a shine.

I've made some rings out of veneer. Works alright but its very finicky to make sure all of the layers are perfect and the ends are seemless. Im trying solid woods later week. Ebony and bloodwood. I also had issues with the CA glue. Im going to try a different approach. So as you may know, sanding wood to higher grits tends to burnish the grain and after the 300-400 grit its arguable pointless to keep sanding. Im going to do the same process you did (drill the holes on a press. Chop off the edges. Sand it round.) But im going to take it up to about 600 grit and then apply several coats of tung oil. Im sure linseed oil will work just as we'll but tung oil holds a special place in my heart for some reason.. anyways. If I have some done by the time anyone comments on this curious if it works, I will share my results

Great video! One of the many i have been watching for methods in making my own wooden rings.
Ill probably start with the bentwood method (using wood veneer). After the glue method in your video, after sanding/polishing it, try burnishing cream(or car wax compound) for the finishing coats. That will give the rings a little bit more shine/glossy look, and not have the glue directly against the skin.

great work. You can change the design so that the ring sides run in the same direction as the grain. You probably have to join two pieces to make it thick enough or just get a 2 by 2 and chop to the desired thickness. That may make the ring stronger. I will be trying it myself tomorrow.
