Turkish Airlines is one of my favourite airlines in the World! And Istanbul is simply one of the most spectacular places on the Planet. Turkish food is unbeatable. Great video 😊
Great review Ewan, it is my biggest regret not visiting Istanbul, when I had the chance. I wonder if they would take on Emirates, Qatar & SQ for a slice of NZ - Europe. Fingers crossed
Hi Richard great to hear from you .If they did I feel they would have a very good chance. They have such a reach globally more than all 3 you mentioned . My understanding is that when a few more of the A350 they have on order they will go direct from Melbourne to Istanbul and I guess add Sydney. It would just be amazing if they were to add New Zealand.!!!! Meanwhile I guess we just have to fly to Melbourne. Istanbul takes my breath away. You have to go.
Thanks for your insights. Actually, when I think about it I didn’t have much engagement with the staff but the one person I did speak with who was making the coffees wasn’t very friendly. I have to say the food was amazing did you experience that?
@@ewanwilson2315 I did , the food was very good. But it wasn’t just one person in the service staff that was unfriendly - they all seemed to be in a sullen mood, something was definitely off
For instance , I remember asking for an extra helping of the spicy rice - the lady serving acted like she was giving away food saved for her children or something 😅made me very uncomfortable. I just felt that the standard customer service we expect with top tier airline lounges wasn’t there - I suspect they don’t train their staff to an international standard
It's very normal for people to behave like that. People in Turkey are in a very difficult situation, they cannot live on what they earn and they are forced to work very long hours. Life is very expensive and their unhappiness is reflected in their behavior.
Thanks for sharing your experience. Each flight can be so different. Was your flight short-haul or long? We loved the food in the lounge but didn’t interact with any of the staff.

Yeah, that’s so frustrating. Hey did you try out the golf simulator while you were there? I really wanted to but I had limited time.

Very ordinary business class flight and less than ordinary business lounge at IST for sure nothing special & FAR from being good
