Excellent video, thank you for that and I most certainly will look into it. Just discovered your channel and thoroughly enjoying it. You’re right too, at least two you tubers are charging a lot of money so they can privately tell you this information 😅. Can I just ask a couple of questions - Are point sales and redemption offers on set dates or are they random events that you receive notifications about, if so how much notice do they give you of these offers?

      Awesome, thank you!
They are on random dates, and all members receive an email . however you can be sure that they will be at the beginning middle and end of the year. They have just had a huge one. Where they were giving 125% bonus in miles purchased.
Sorry for my slow response. I’ve been travelling in Mongolia and Europe. Just heading back to New Zealand now with a whole lot of new videos watch out for them.

❤❤❤ amazing insight! I had no idea this was a thing! I’m guessing also even if you could only afford a spend a few hundred buying points you’re still getting double - definitely something worth doing if you’re wanting to travel lots
Thanks for the great video and insight

Hey Emily thanks for the wonderful feedback!! It is a great mechanism for making the most of your precious Cash . It does however come with some restrictions if you’re not always find availability or the redemption rates could be high high season or a significant event occurring in the city you were wishing to fly to purchasing points banking them having some flexibility for when you redeem them and making that redemption early, can certainly lead to some amazing deals!! I hear you’re flying very soon. Travel safe..

For years I collected American Airlines points. In 2012, I flew to Europe in business class on points and it cost ca. 75,000 points per leg (total 150,000). Since then I had accumulated close to 300.000 and I decided to spend them on a trip to Greece. But American Airlines must have changed their entire policy because all my points could buy me was premium economy. I had been saving for years so I could celebrate my retirement. I just don't trust point programs any more.

Hey Laurie thanks for sharing your experience. You’re correct airlines are certainly making it harder to find deals! Frequent flyer seats are yield control just like all other seat class allocations. The general rule is you get the best deals and availability between seven and nine months ahead or in some cases in the last three weeks as airlines manage their inventory. In the past airlines simply wouldn’t have frequent flyer seats available for point redemption during high season but recently they adapted and they still make them available but at significant higher levels of redemption.. I hate to say it. It’s all about picking your dates.
