  • I was just sitting at the tracks waiting for a train, when I heard a loud noise coming from across the tracks. Turns out it was the siren for the Fire Department building across the street, calling the volunteer fireman to the station. It was very loud!

Great siren even though it’s a single phase siren. I can hear the fluctuation and drag in power to the siren! That’s why 3 phase sirens always sound better !

It was extremely loud for sure. This siren no longer exists because this fire station has closed or been moved. I've only ever heard it once but it definitely startled me when it went off lol

I have a siren and diaphone in my area that no longer sound. The fluctuation from the Erick and the 3-3-3 honk pattern from the diaphone are sounds I miss.

Just the other night I heard this type of fire station siren.
Went to go see fireworks when right before they were to start the sirens sounded because just down the road from me soemwhere in all the crowd a 11 month old started havin a seizure. But they had great response time. Siren only went for a minute then 2 minutes later ambulance was on scene 5 minutes later they left for hospital.

@ Jack Wood: It was pretty damn loud. I mean, it wasn't totally deafening, but it got my attention for sure! I don't know what the range would be. I'd say you could hear it from at least 2 miles. I've never heard it from Stony Creek, which is the next town south.

That fire station seems to be located in the wrong location. If trucks are coming in the direction of the cameraman, there's a good chance they could be stopped by a train (that rail line is a mainline or at least a branchline that is used frequently, right?).

At that point it's in Prince George. The railroad crossing at Carson there is in Dinwiddie. There's a sign (you can see it by the power line pole on the right in the video) that says "ENTER PRINCE GEORGE CO LEAVE DINWIDDIE CO" and if you stand a certain way by the sign you can actually be in both counties. I've done it before and it's pretty wild.
