I've watched a lot of watercolor tutorials online, yours is one of the most easy to understand and you explained the techniques very clearly and straightforward, very informative. music is great too! Thanks!
I keep finding these wonderful tutorials in RUclips. I’ll be honest that I’m not into painting characters, but you are definitely talented. I love the soft transitions in your rose, and you make me want to practice the techniques you’ve used here.
Hey! I am from Russia and I love to watch for this cool artist! So beautifully to see how these awesome masterpieces are being made with help of colors and brushes :)
Thank you..... Im 62 yrs old and I just started watercolour painting a couple of weeks ago. I couldnt work out my "styler" then came across your channel. I followed your directions ( sort of ...lol ) and am thrilled with the result. I wish I could show it to you. I prefer to stay away from instagram. 🙂
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I LOVE the look of watercolor flowers but have struggled with how to make them look like you just did. This will help me tremendously! ❤
Thank you for taking the time and effort to make this tutorial. It does inspire me to approach painting flowers in a different and improved perspective. I always mess up the wet wash whenever I do backgrounds and I end up with streaky lines instead of a smooth gradient like yours. I'm going to give your method a try and see how it goes. Hopefully the Borneo Equator heat do not mess it up 😉😁
@@Finelinernerd I did give it a try a few days ago on a piece that I was working on and it gave me a wonderful smooth gradient without any blotches. Next practice, I'm going to give the rose a go. Thanks so much once again 😊
Beside the few complaints at the start of the video would you say you enjoy using this sketchbook? Is the passer really 100% cotton and would you buy another if you could be sure the impression/staining of the first page wouldn’t happen again ?? Thanks for your time, beautiful painting!! I’m subscribed for more ! Edit: you answered my questions in the end of the video so i guess i just would now ask if you would still recommend this sketchbook today??
not sure if this was asked already/ but what is that ceramic palette? i am a bit of a hoarder with my supplies and this one is calling my name! helpful techniques. ty from a new subscriber
I Love love love your art so much, I started drawing last year and tbh you are one of the people that motivated me to draw❤️, you inspire me to be better and work harder!👊🏼💖
Might I ask what masking tape you use? It looks like it has a very waxy finish. I use either washi tape or just masking tape from the hardware store and it always tears the paper 😭 I am still learning how to watercolour.
Hey Hilary, I am indeed, I actually need to update the last one with some more colour theory, and I’ll include how to make any skin tone in one video I think. Sorry for the delay, I took quite a long time off at the beginning of lockdown and only recently got back to all this 🖤
Hi, I discovered you yesterday and have now watched all your videos. I love the non faff and informative videos ha! Was wondering if you've ever tried the Paul Rubens watercolour paints? the packaging looks lovely and I now want a pink pad!!!!
I’m so glad to hear that because I do try to get to the point ASAP, I haven’t used their normal colours but I have got their glitter watercolours, they’re gorgeous paints. I hope to try their standard palette some day 🖤
First of all, I love your art and I liked this idea of watercolor tutorials! Also I like your human drawing style (sorry my English, idk how to describe it)... So I was wondering... Would you make any human drawing tutorials? I'd reaaaally enjoy it! Thank you
Hi Mateus, thanks for your kind message, I would love to make a tutorial about drawing people, I’ll add it to my list. Would you like something like how to draw anatomy? Or faces?
@@Finelinernerd To be really honest, I'd like to learn both if possible, but mainly faces hah. I follow you in Instagram and I really like your style. Thank you for replying and considering that.
When I first tried this sketchbook out I was very disappointed for various reasons (high expectations, first time using cotton paper, back of the book broke right away). But at about the third page in, I came to really enjoy the paper, the format and the way paint looked on it
This is why I normally use loose sheets instead of sketchbooks, but there’s something so appealing about a book isn’t there? Are you enjoying using cotton paper now though?
@@Finelinernerd Having painted on Canson watercolor paper for a while, I definitely enjoyed the change to cotton! I wanted to try out more brands of cotton paper as well, so I recently bought Fabriano artistico. It feels completely different to Paul Rubens, but in a very good way! Will try more in the future. :)
@@Finelinernerd I can recommend the Fabriano artistico paper. But I've only used it a few times so far and I haven't tried Arches yet, so I am not sure how it holds up against that! I know that Arches is supposed to be one of the best on the market, right? Will definitely buy the fine grain one in the future :)
Yeah they’re supposed to be but I do hear great things about Fabriano. I used to love Beepaper’s cotton paper but it’s so hard to get in the UK. I’ll definitely check Fabriano our, thanks for the recommendation 🖤
I always just smear the paint and make wavy moves when I make flowers, because I don have the hability to make them. I'm really scared of realism. I'm so impatient 😓
I think that's the thing, I'll try to start practicing drawing flowers first (and collecting patience too)♥️ and then I'll apply the tips on the vid!! Thank you so much !
You can use the same techniques on a smaller rose, you know when it hasn’t fully bloomed? They’re much easier to draw and paint but it’s great practise for larger flowers later 🤗🖤
Wow it's genius to swatch the dominant colors! Definitely gonna try that - great video as always!
Hey Jo! Let me know how you get on with it 🤗🖤

Best tutorial I ever watched and so short as well! Amazing work!

I love the way you explain everything , its perfect for beginners and pro artist

Super late to comment on this, but try the Pantone app for picking colours! The app makes a 5 colour palette from your picture

trying to find you on patreon, and am having difficulties. Would you please post a link? Thanks

I thought the pink Paul Ruben’s sketchbooks were hot press?
Was thinking to buy this sketchbook🤔 glad I didn't 😂❤
