Finally completed my 10x10, bloody holes that weren't punched through, holes that didn't quite align even though everything was square. Instructions not showing steps so i had to rewind my actions a few times (should have read through instructions once before pressing ahead!). But a lovely shed once all locked together. I went with locknuts too after being told about blind rivets deforming with thermal changes.
Next step is to get the Chinese diesel heater in there (thanks to you again) so it's warm enough for me to do insulation and vinyl roll flooring.

Well done I'm glad you got through it. I thought about insulating mine but when the forge is lit it gets too hot so I'm glad it keeps cool in winter. All my non hot work I do in the new workshop which has 60mm kingspan with the heater. More on the heater coming shortly with lots of new information and testing free fuel. Cheers J

Good to see you back. Raising the shed sounds like an opportunity for some creative scounging -- old railroad ties, building tear downs (brick, wood, stone...), stacked cord wood and clay or mortar, daub and wattle... :-) If you watched Torbjörn Åhman's woodshop build, you saw him using rock wool panels for insulation. It seems like that and some inexpensive paneling might be a good solution for your shed sweating. Clyde

I got the 10x10 one and am starting on it tomorrow. Had to buy a rivet gun and 500 bloody rivets. I foresee sore hands :)

PS Joshua, I bought the electric hole punch, Far to heavy am afraid for me at 74 yrs. I will also have to take about a 1mm of of the side plates to take 5mm angles. But it pop's holes with no effort at all. I only pop 6.5 and 8.5mm holes. cheers fella great tips too.

Great! Some additional height might do you good! If your camera support custom white balance profiles, it should help out with the purple light.

Excellent Video Joshua and I would agree to raise the height with some Builders Blocks
Just an idea sit your Metal shed onto some breeze block to gain some extra height. Otherwise your gonna be banging your head left right and centre on those Metal rafters
That would help but would need to rethink the door as it requires the bottom channel to work. Cheers J

Great to see the shop going up Joshua, I've been waiting for this with some excitement.
We're also planning on going ahead with our shop/barn renovations this year and hoping to be done by the end of summer so that we can keep the forge running all winter. Good luck and I think you will have to raise that shed pretty soon.

Yeh Im thinking of contacting a metal roofing firm to see if they have spare off cuts about half a meter. if so I can raise it cheeply. to be honest even though it was a bit more expensive I wish I built it to my own design from scratch. I'm an associate the worshipful company of blacksmiths we get relatively well with the farriers and compete together in the competitions.

The purple light is due to the LEDs not emitting broadband radiation, they are mainly blue and/or red in their spectrum. To stop your camera seeing it as purple change the colour temperature and white balance until you're happy with it.
Just noticed this was in 2018 so you probs have that new camera by now!

Hi,
I'm in the process of setting my first Blacksmith shop and I did consider one of these metal sheds but I have read they are quite flimsy and I worry about the height so I have opted to building my own 12x10 wooden workshop with a metal roof and look at what fire proofing I can do to the inside.
I've just built a new workshop, check out the video. Still use this one for forging in. Cheers J

Hi Joshua' I got my 11' X 13' shed, How I will put it up is to sit it on Douglas fir wood slabs I will take it up about 2' Since I will be building trailers in it and doing a bit of Smithing too.
I will also go with your Stainless dome head screws a good idea?. And maybe line it with a Damp proof membrane of sorts, But I will get it up and get out of the winter rain. bye.

I'm a professional photographer. If you can change the white balance of the camera then you can fix that. Also, it looks like the camera would need an IR filter for those lights. Most modern DSLRs have them in front of the sensor.
Yep, this is good advice. Read up on how to set the white balance on your new camera... I couldn’t believe I had spent years taking photos without understanding this fairly basic rule.

you can make those drillbits by yourself from HSSdrills, ido that all the time for wood or sheetmetal
Hello mate about to or thinking of buying one of these yard masters ...how has it stood up over 5years?
It's pretty much just the Same as when I first bought it. I use a larger workshop that I built for most of my work but this one still has my forge, power hammer and compressor in it. Cheers J

as usual, a great video. what do you intend to do about the shed dripping in the winter? I’m likely to have a similar problem. I think if I fibreglass insulate the roof, I’ll get soggy fibreglass. But my roof joists configuration prevents me putting in a membrane. Any thoughts? Please do carry om making these uploads. Best wishes.
Hi Wexford! It gets condensation but I store my tools in a dry box with a coat of oil. When the forge is on its plenty hot and and dry. My concrete pad slopes at the sides so the floor is always dry too as no wet can seep in. Cheers J
Hi Joshua love the video i am taking delivery of the same metal shed today so your vid really helps prepare me for what i am in for :-0 love the bright strip lights just one question. Why did you run three separate strips? i intend to fit this type of light to mine but am thinking of just running a continuous strip up and down the length of the shed with one connector.Chas.
Thank you. The drivers can only cope with up to 5m so I use 4 X 50w drivers to do each 3m strip. 2 in the middle and 1 either side. Probably could get away with just 2 drivers but would be dimmed slightly.

@@geoffreycasey875 Mines suffering from major condensation issues i have even put extra vents to the front and rear of roof ends! Painted the roof black to concentrate sun rays but still the roof drips and drips everywhere i think the only other thing i can do is paint inside with anti condensation paint😭

Hi Joshua! I am considering a metal shed for a garden gym, but I'm scared about condensation issues as I live in Scotland. May I ask how has the shed held up? Did you have issues with your equipment? Thanks!
My equipment is fine but all my raw steel rusts from the moisture. It heats up fast with a convector heater on cold days. I would make sure the concrete is elevated higher than the surrounding ground and have it raised in the middle so no wet stays and forms a puddle as mine is and has no problems. Not much head height if you're doing a work out. It's a cheap shed and does the job but if you're handy and can afford a bit more on materials I would build from scratch getting it just how you want. hi josh im new to ur vids i have got the same yarmaster been up about 1 year now but now its starting to be cold and rain alot now i go in the shed warter all over walls and seems to be coming through the door runner any idea best way to seal it all up any good cheap stuff
Hi. Some of it may be condensation. If you're getting water coming up from underneath then you may wish to dig a drain around your foundation or raise the floor level. My foundation is higher than the ground outside with a moisture barrier so I don't have that issue. Regarding condensation you can combat it by keeping it ventilated with the door open on dry days and having it closed and heated on wet days. I use a diesel heater in my workshop (done a few videos on it) which is much cheaper to run than an electric heater. I hope that helps. Cheers J

How are these sheds, does water get in ?
Mine is still good. If it's on an elevated pad with a membrane it will be fine. Cheers J

Hi Martin. Most of them yes but it was a lot work, I used pop rivets also in some places. It's been up over a year now and still good as you can see in my latest videos. I think I would build one from scratch in future of my own design so I can get more head height and easier to build. But it was cheap enough. Cheers J

@@joshuadelisle sorry but last question. What did you do for the floor of the shed? I mean to stop the water leaking in between the frame and base. Did you lay concrete or a raised platform inside the shed to bring the floor up above the base frame?
@@MartyO hi. I dug a trench around the concrete to drain water around it away. The pad is also slightly higher than the ground and slopes off to one side so any wet falls away (was already there when we moved in). Expect condensation with a steel shed, but regularly having the doors open and a heater on when using it keeps it dry. Cheers J
Hi, can I ask how the shed is coming along? Did you do any sort of insulation inside it? How did you end up raising it and by how much? I’m looking at that exact shed for use as a wood shop but think it needs the inside boarding out and raising by a foot or at least a single layer of breeze blocks, any advice would be very welcome. 🙏
Hi. It's doing fine. It's a small space so it heats up very fast with a heater or the forge. For wood work you may want to insulate or have a solar powered dehumidifier working to stop humidity and condensation. With regular use it remains quite dry. I think the type of foundation you use can affect the humidity, mine has a trench and drains surface water away so no moisture enters the concrete. Hight is the biggest issue, it's a bit too much effort for me to modify and I would rather build a new one from scratch if I'm going to put the effort in. Otherwise it's been a very cost effective start up before investing in a larger unit. Cheers J

I’m considering either one of these or a loglap shed 10 x 8, the cost of wooden workshops is a lot steeper and feel I could probably buy the timber and make my own to a better standard, the tin workshop is very cost effective but would need insulation and boarding out inside for sure as I need hanging storage/shelves so it would need some modifications either way, I just think the tin looks better and would last long if built correctly and modified to my needs.

@@garethwatson7999 thank you. My decision came to the fact that the shed was cheaper than if I bought the steel and built it from scratch. It's well coated and has taken some punishment from me without signs of rusting. I made independent steel racking and shelves. I would definitely build one of my own design if I had the budget just so I can have more head height and make the main door flip upwards to create a canopy. All the very best. I would recommend building your own if you want it out of wood also. Cheers J
@@joshuadelisle I agree, my dad built his own 15 x 8 workshop from Loglap and it came in at under £500 for all materials, including some pond liner to use as roof liner, so I’m thinking of going that route in the new year, as for a canopy, i would like one also and if I build my own I can simply carry on the roof laps a couple of feet to create a canopy on one end and think they are very handy to have specially in bad weather.

Is it going to be cold in that shed?? Or do I need to put electric heating to make it warm??
It's not insulated so it will be the same temperature as the outdoors. But it is a small space and heats up very fast with a heater. I use a convector heater when it's cold out. I turn it on from the house, It's warm by the time I've made a cup of tea and walked over. Cheers J

Issues with condensation?
Not for me. However my foundation pad has a water proof membrane and there is a trench around it so no moisture is not coming in through the floor. Cheers J

Hi Joshua. Did you drill holes into your foundation to attach the base? i hired a couple of handymen to assemble mine and they havent attached the base to the concrete. Should I be concerned?!

I’m having big problems with my base, my walls are not fitting in
Oh dear. By not fitting do you mean the panels are not going into the slot or collectively the panels are coming to big/short for the running length?

So basically me and my dad have been fixing this shed for a week now and we STILL haven’t put up the walls because the base is really difficult, when we assembled the base the walls where off but 1cm so we took everything down again, but with the shitty instructions we didn’t know how to fix it so we measured it but it’s saying it’s to short but when we pull the base parts out no holes are able to come together
@@tessatiffen8463 I'm not sure why its like that for you, its been a while since I built mine but I don't remember the walls being a problem. the instructions where useless and I think we just peeked at the drawings. You'll have to decide if its worth sending it back and getting a refund or decide its cheap enough to amend it by making your own holes and stretching the pannels to fit. cheers J
all them stainless steel screws and security padlock are pointless since you can break in within a minute with a simple tin opener...

My shed is leaking
I've not had a problem with mine. But I did bolt my roof on with good nilon washers rather than the silly screws they supplied.

You should invest in a better lock. Master locks are bottom end of security.
Shit sheds, very low roof and a pain in the arse to assemble. Don’t touch them
You get what you pay for, for me it was cheaper than buying the cladding, my thoughts where if i need to I can modify it to be better while still spending less.

@@joshuadelisle Great to hear! I got a 40mm box framed corrugated steel garage built, condensation has drove me insane. I'm going to buy 25mm polystyrene sheets, board it all then add a vapour barrier. I'll get one of them Diesel air heaters too lol
