The Vostroyan Firstborn are Imperial Guard Regiments. Vostroya is a world in the Halo Zone beyond the Eye of Terror, which swore allegiance to Mars during the Age of Strife. It is now ruled by a committee of Techtriarchs, a mix of Mechanicus Magi and more traditional Imperial planetary government. During the Horus Heresy, Vostroya refused to provide regiments to the Emperor, preferring instead to reserve the population in the manufactoria blanketing the world. After the Heresy, the Vostroyans, out of guilt, agreed to supply every family's firstborn son to service with the Imperial Guard

The filigree on the stock, the enhanced scope, the well worn trigger that needed caressing, not yanking. My sword is of the finest alloy, it had cut swathes of fire before it reached my care.

    • @Jamhael1
      @Jamhael1 6 месяцев назад +2

@@RookieR48 the situation would go like this:
Couple marries, have 2 kids, the first go to the Guard, the second stay, marry, have 2 kids, the first go to the Guard to his Uncle's regiment, the second stay, marry, have 3 children, the first go to the Guard, the other 2 stay, marry, they have 5 kids each (good times), the first child of each (they are cousins) go to the Guard to the regiment of their Uncle and Granduncle, the rest stay, and the process go on and on...
And why this happens? Simple: the Vostroyan had, in its entire history since start of what I call "The Penance", only raised 7 REGIMENTS. They didn't create more - they just keep reinforcing them (in fact, they are one of the few regiments that do that), which create a societal custom of entire families linked to a certain Regiment.

STORY TIME: Back when I played the Only War TTRPG's, one of the regiments you could pick were the Vostroyan Firstborn. We didn't end up playing as them, but the GM did make a bunch of NPC guardsmen who were Vostroyan. And he based them all on Russian Call of Duty characters.
We had Viktor Reznov, Dimitri Petrenko, Nikolai Belinski, and Chernov. And they were the sole survivors of their regiment that had been decimated by a combination of Orks and Tyranids. And they all had the same personalities as their CoD counterparts.
By the end of session three all except Chernov had died (the dice weren't on their side), but each one went out like a badass. Reznov drove a tank into a tyranid swarm before being overturned and crushed by a Carnifex, Dimitri was sniping Ork Boyz to cover our retreat before getting torn apart by a Killa Kan, and Nikolai went out in a blaze with molotov cocktails made with Space Wolf mead (long story tied to our Deathwatch game) and blew up an entire warehouse full of equal parts Orks and Nids.
Poor Chernov was left alive with so much trauma and mementos from each one, and now had the hard task of not only making sure all three would be remembered, but also making sure their deaths were not in vain. They weren't, and we would later learn in a post-campaign epilogue he survived long enough to become commander of his own Voystroyan regiment called "Sons of the Hoarfrost."

Just like the Iron Hands Spaces Marines, led by Ferrous Manus with his hands of Iron on their Flagship the Fist of Iron, who have thankfully never had to fight the Men of Iron.
Or all of the different uses of “Angel” in 40k, like the Dark Angels, the other chapter of the Emperor’s Angels of Death.
    And their successor chapters the
    Angels of Descent
    Angels of Solemnity
    Angels of Sorrow
    Angels of the Hunt
    Angels of the Lion
    Cobalt Angels
Keep in mind, the Dark Angels are not to be confused with the Fallen Dark Angels, traitors from the Horus Heresy.
And there’s the Red Angel Angron, vs the Blood Angels chapter, led by the angel-winged Primarch Sanguinius, the Great Angel and their successor chapters the
    Angels Vermillion,
    Angels Encarmine,
    Angel's Litany
    Angels Celestial
    Angels Nemesis

    Angels Vampiric
    Angels Vehement
    Blissful Angels
    Angels Carmine
    Death Angels
    Storm Angels
Or the short stories of A Lesson In Purpose: A Knights Angelicus Story or
A World Fallen - A Knights Angelicus Story
And this should not be confused with the Angel, also called the Sleeper and the Angel of Destruction, a powerful weapon created and used by the Emperor during the Unification Wars,
Or be confused with The Angel, which is the High Gothic name for an immeasurably powerful creature of Aeldari Mythology.
Not to mention all the different uses of “Knight”, “Blood”, and oh, did we talk about the Space Wolves and all the instances/names using “Wolf” in their books?
    Just to name few.
    Just a suggestion.

@@gokbay3057 yeah that’s exactly my point, they have like 2 paragraphs of lore total which essentially just says they are Elysians but better drop troops, they have a very high rate of conscription to the tempestus scions, and that they live on a world with ridiculously tall hive spires, even taller than usual, and hunt vapourwyrms. That’s about all ive heard, but the kasrkin minis that were shown in the episode were painted in the harakoni warhawks color scheme

@chronosaiyan1953 I think I read one of their short books and they mention they have a high corsair and piracy problem in their sector. This causes them to constantly go on rapid strikes and incursions to dislodge hold outs and raze bases leading to a high amount of veterans in their regiments.

The best part about Rebel Moon is that it was orginally pitched as a Star Wars movie and Lucasfilm rejected it more that once, and they weren't the only ones to reject it. Warner Bros also rejected it a couple times. This thing is a twisted abomination of random sci-fi bits that Snyder stitched together into something worthy of the flesh sculpters of the Drukhari. And just like the poor victims of the Haemonculi covens, it's absolute agony as it writhes across our screens is truly horrific to behold. He dragged it around showing it to the various studios for years making slight alterations until he found somebody who would pay him subject everyone to this horror. And the worst part is somebody decided he needed to make two of them.

If GW actually did a Vostroyan Furstborn Range Refresh, I WOULD LEGITIMATELY BITE THE BULLET TO MY WALLET AND START A GUARD ARMY! I couldn’t give LESS OF A FUCK about Cadia, and I’ve met enough straight up Nazis who play Krieg, that it’s sort of tainted their image for me (if you like Krieg and AREN’T a straight up Nazi, AWESOME! I’m glad you found a faction you enjoy). But the Vostroyan Aesthetic, the Lore, THE VIBE! These guys have the most distinct Subfaction Identity I’ve seen since the Space Wolves, and it pisses me off to no end that GW isn’t making their models anymore!
