Aneurin Bevan was the Health Minister who oversaw the foundation of the NHS. As far as I know he didn't have any healthcare experience. Politics is about power and the ability to practice power. Someone like Hancock failed because he didn't have that ability (amongst other reasons of course). Having expertise in a given field does not automatically make you 'qualified' for a ministerial role in that field.
Ive actually akways felt that being an MP should be like jury service. If your eligible your put in for one year. Absolute Carnage would ensue. But! By You and June asking that question automatically shows why you should be on the parish council. Im a big voter for Junie as PM.
I agree with you that we don’t use the skills and experience of different MPs appropriately. Like why is Angela Rayner not the minister in charge of Social Care when she actually was a care worker? Why is Stephen Kinnock who has literally zero experience helping anybody but himself in charge of that role? It’s a load of absolute horse…
To become an MP you need to be able to lie for England whilst keeping a straight face. If you are honest then that is no good, in politics honesty is the worst policy.
