  • Elan Valley in Wales is absolutely stunning.
In this small series, we visit the dams and then take on some of the off road trails around the huge reservoirs and mountains surrounding this beautiful place.
In this episode, we ride from Coventry over to the Welsh border and then into Powys where the Elan Valley is located just near the town of Rhayader on the A470.
Also, if you want to check out the phone case I'm using then please see the Ultimateaddons website here ultimateaddons...
Please also don't forget to check out my Instagram page with photos and clips from all my rides. You can find me on there using the name adventure__4life
I have been out on so many rides the last few years and have always been recording, I just never uploaded anything online. I thought I'd have a go. I now have the fantastic BMW R1250 GS Adventure TE in Kalamata design which means lots more awesome bike trips to come.
I am a noooob to vlogging so please go easy on me. if you can like and subscribe, that would be great and you can watch as I learn to make better uploads and show you some fantastic places to go on your next adventure.
    Thanks Guys :)

Just started watching this video then had a little chuckle to myself. Bit ironic really at 2:28 seeing the land rover broken down then just after, literally is a land rover dealer/garage. Should have just pushed it onto the forecourt lmao. Great series of videos you are producing. love watching you ride all over the place. Noticed you have not put anything up in a while, hope everything is ok mate!

Currently riding a BMW s1000xr and I love it. I have had an itch for some time for a gs, hence me watching your vids. Your colour is my favourite btw. Might look into a trade in in the spring. I'm enjoying your very well put together videos.

The s1000xr is a lovely bike still but I just love the riding position of my GSA and like you said, I think the colour on mine is the best at the mo with the tripple black close 2nd. Also the durability of the GSA is what is the main clincher for me, I can take it anywhere.

Interesting seeing your TFT showing the directions, is that because you've got the BMW Connected App on your phone? The TFT & Connected App was the reason I went for a new GSA as opposed to a used one, however it was shockingly unreliable. Things improved massively after the first service as they upgraded the TFT Firmware. Anyway, I'm off topic already!! What I wanted to ask is if you've seen the new ConnectedCradle? Given you've got the Nav 5/6 it will be of limited use but if you're a nerd like me it's a very tempting piece of kit for me...... I've only got the one bike but really fancy a Honda MSX and a TMax!!

    • @Adventure4LifeTV
      @Adventure4LifeTV  2 года назад +1

      Hi DervMan,
I have seen those cradles available on some of the GSA facebook groups. I'll have a look one day.
At the moment i use whatever... sometime I have the TFT directions on and sometimes I use NAV 6. The TFT connection issue seems loads better now and seems to stay connected on most of my rides now.
I did notice a difference after the last app update so hopefully it will saty this way.
      Thanks for watching and commenting.
      Kind Regards

@@Adventure4LifeTV The biggest challenge I found (other than disconnects) was controlling the Packtalk as my phone was paired to the TFT meaning the Cardo App wouldn’t work.

Stunning Autumn colours! I've got a lowered 1250 GS TE Exclusive, it's my 3rd after 2 1200s and a marked improvement. I love going to Elan Valley, last time I was there all the dams even Clarewyn were overflowing so looks like the brummies have left the tap running LOL. Well I've been sat here watching your vid with a cuppa and a racer, how spooky! As I'm in Worcestershire I know those roads well, really spoilt for choice without having to sit on the motorway for miles plus I go out in the week to avoid the weekend BSB practice sessions!

Hi Adrian, I agree, week days are the best for a quiet ride and winter days to :)
The lowered option is an awesome ride. I had the standard GS TE before this but I defo find my lowered option rides better for me. At 5ft 6, I had no choice, it had to be lowered everything. It is still a struggle sometimes lol but not to bad.

@@Adventure4LifeTV Thanks, I was quite impressed with your ride from the top of Claerwen to Devil's Bridge and wondered how far that track went last time I was there and now I know LOL. As the normal GS like mine has even less suspension travel and cast wheels compared to your lowered GSA it's not something at my age or lack of off road ability I'd want to try especially as I ride alone though I may well ride it the other way round until the tarmac finishes.

Afternoon. It's a tough choice, sticking with my Multistrada or swapping to a GS. Next year I have to have the desmo service which will cost about £1000, but that will be the belts and everything. Of I do decide to change I am thinking maybe next year, hopefully get a good deal on a used one. I do like the GSA but it's a tad too bulky in the garage. I will be watching your video of North Wales shortly. Keep up the good work, really enjoying your videos

I'm currently riding a Honda NT700 which I bought after a long break from bike ownership, to make short tours and ride round the Peak District where I live. It's a bike that's good at doing everything fairly averagely
Now I'm back into biking and have a better idea what I enjoy doing, I would have two bikes in my garage if I could afford them. A CB 500X for riding back lanes and a Triumph T120 SpeedMaster for lazy cruising. This is the first time in my biking life when I ride for pleasure only and not as a means of transport
Enjoyed the video and your chat. The Elan Valley is a great area for bike riding

I really wanted to move to a GSA this past year, but reported drive shaft issues and maintenance costs put me off, as well as a limited dealer network in the US, and my local dealer seemed less than interested in sales. Bought a new Road Glide Limited instead as my riding is all on road, but love the idea of an ADV bike. I also have a 19 Gold Wing Tour DCT, thinking I was leaving Harley forever, but may be the other way around now. Give the Gold Wing a try some day - they are not nearly as big as you may think now with the new generation. New sub - I’ve taken a liking to UK riders on their BMWs and all the great scenery in towns and countryside.

So far I have been lucky, no problems as yet although like you said, the maintenence costs are high.

I also had the 1200 LC Alpine TE version previoulsy and found that to be huge for me to, it was not lowered like this one. I love the GS's for the riding position. I find that I don't get much body fatigue after riding far and can do a 600+ mile day easily.
