The Heaven's Gate cult is probably one of the most intriguing cults I've ever looked into. There is a 3 part documentary the takes a deep dive at the creation of the cult and the still living or former members. I find the most fascinating cult.. well, I guess there would be more than one even though in my mind they are all just variations of one but.. religion. Each variation has different things but essentially they are all the same. As an Atheist who see's the problems of all of these religious cults, it is intriguing to learn each individual believers reason for believing. Most times it's going to be a young mind that was indoctrinated before it had time to grow and defend itself from that sort of brain washing. The one's I am truly enthralled with and it is hard to find, I should add.. later in life just picking one up, after not being involved in the slightest with any variation of it.I have heard about it and read some stories but I can't help but think the back story of that person is a lie because I can't imagine a reasonable adult brain being able to accept it after having never been exposed to it before.
The idea that tribes had many different leaders per situation can be seen as late as the mid-to-late 1800s with different bands of the Chiracahua Apaches. Geronimo could never be a chief due to his bloodline, yet he was war chief for different raids that he proposed. And that includes leading Cochise, chief of his band, during such raids. At that point, the western Apache hadn’t settled down save for being assigned to reservations in Arizona. The Western Apache, particularly in southern Arizona and northern Mexico, were perhaps the last nomadic people in the northern hemisphere
But if they taught it then kids would understand that the military, police, work environments, educational institutions, religion, etc. are all based on some form of control or conformity

I used to be one right after my parents divorced when I was 13, after 8 years I've grown out of it, especially after seeing that evil and good people are in each social group of any kind. Cult topics and discussions on JRE tend to be very underrated. Aliens, UFOS, Wild Animals, Ghosts Conspiracy Theories etc. are great, but I really wish he’d get a Cult expert on for like 4 hours, just diving into all kinds of cults for 4 hours.
It's incredible how deeply ingrained our human need for connection and status is, shaping everything from our beliefs to our behaviors. The discussion about cults and religions offering a sense of community and purpose really resonated. And the insights into how storytelling shapes our identities and aspirations were eye-opening. Kudos to Joe Rogan and guest for diving into such thought-provoking topics. This is the kind of content we need more of-intellectually stimulating and genuinely enlightening.
I think this is also a big reason we see the rise of influencers and fringe politics for example. With the reduction of religion, people are seeking other avenues for their fanaticism and community.
I have learnt the most about the value of life and humanity from people who were atheists or agnostic. And I have only experienced a fixed mindset and intolerance for the other from people who are religious. 🤷🏻♀️ for me it’s logically clear which group is more human, moral and sophisticated when it comes to critical thinking
I was raised in a religion from 0 to 15 when I decided to stop attending. The reason I stopped is because my mother and sisters walked away from it. I think brainwashing is a strong and complicated term but I’m nearly 43 and still agonise about it at quite frequent times because I’m not a follower, so make of that what you will….. My father has never dropped his faith. He became a member at age 21, he’s 78. Please please believe me when I say you accept everything that is taught to you however odd or difficult it might be because you are so hidden from “the real world” that everyone becomes your enemy that isn’t on the same side. It’s incredibly destructive and I have nothing but pity for any new recruits whatever age or background. In my heart I know it wasn’t meant to be this way 😔.

He was Do, she was Ti, if you know music theory, you understand the significance and what the names imply. He was castrated, likely because the one traumatic event in his life, he spent the rest of his life running from: He became creepily and sexually attracted to one of his music students who wasn't game and he suffered serious reputational damage and incredible shame. He was fired and they stopped just short of charging him. He never recovered from the same. He wasn't even prepared to admit to himself he was gay let alone go public. Ti was likely a "beard". Ti likely believed (or desired) she was Do's partner in this twisted way. Castration would have kept him from having to have sex with Ti, which was likely revolting to him, on account of being gay and all. Why do you think he turned them all into androgynous robots. SO, ALL OF THIS BECAUSE A MUSIC TEACHER IN THE 1970S DIDNT WANT TO ADMIT HE WAS GAY.
Boko Haram use the youngest suicide bombers. Mostly girls. Of the 134 suicide bombers whose age could be determined, 60% were teenagers or children. Ellen Chapin, a Yale-based researcher who worked on the report, told CNN the militant group “deployed 42 teenage girls and 23 little girls (12 years old and under), compared to 11 teenage boys and five little boys. I was so very lucky that I got out of the Mormon belief at 9 years old. It was my mother. Her Mormon parents disowned her for divorcing my dad and leaving the church. It was one of the promises the Mormons offer is family is forever. They mistreated her. And I saw the impact at 8 years old. And it left me wondering, what happened to my happy family? I thought love within family is unconditional. I thought we were given choice. Lies...all lies. And since then I've never been easily influenced. I was really lucky. Some heavy shit for a little boy to stomach.
human beings need meaning and they need human connection. cults give their members meaning and connection. coming from a materialist construct, these two see status as meaning, which it is a kind of meaning for a certain construct. i'd argue most cults offer a different kind of meaning, a more spiritual or deeper meaning, which is what makes them appealing. these two are so deep in the contemporary, western, secular construct that they really dont understand what religion is about.

That's because we have a creator
I think this is also a big reason we see the rise of influencers and fringe politics for example. With the reduction of religion, people are seeking other avenues for their fanaticism and community.
Every religion is a cult.
I've been told all my life I don't listen and am hard headed, I guess that makes me immune to cults. XD
If you’re a kid and the people that are teaching you things are evil then you’re going to make you believe in and tell evil things, and manipulate
So anything going on in the lgbtqazpjdbdk group
I have learnt the most about the value of life and humanity from people who were atheists or agnostic. And I have only experienced a fixed mindset and intolerance for the other from people who are religious. 🤷🏻♀️ for me it’s logically clear which group is more human, moral and sophisticated when it comes to critical thinking
Jim Jones and the Peoples Temple come to my mind first.
Sad and tragic story
CIA psyop, just like Manson, Koresh, and the others.
Perfect episode to have wendigoon on. Is it a conspiracy that he hasn't been on Rogan yet? Idk but you should probably look into it.
Ehh I think this might be more of a Jordan Peterson or Robin Williams kinda topic but tbh I haven’t rewatched the video yet & was distracted the last time I did so I’m not quite sure 🤷♂️ only heard a couple bits & pieces
Ahhh, the last bit of information I needed to start a cult, thank you.
This conversation reminds me of Jiddu Krishnamurti's speech called 'Truth is a pathless land '
"She sells Sanctuary" is a good song but i'm no fanatic.

Boko Haram use the youngest suicide bombers. Mostly girls. Of the 134 suicide bombers whose age could be determined, 60% were teenagers or children. The youngest suicide bomber identified to date was just 7 years old.
Boko Haram has used four times as many young girls as it has young boys, according to the study.
Ellen Chapin, a Yale-based researcher who worked on the report, told CNN the militant group “deployed 42 teenage girls and 23 little girls (12 years old and under), compared to 11 teenage boys and five little boys. Boko Haram are despicable.
MamaMax got his wish afterall.... Joe is talking about cults LMAO. "Jamie pull up the black werewolf vampire".
How does he explain people who are essentially self reliant, live by themselves, and don't need to feel they are part of a group, and a group think to get by in life?

I was so very lucky that I got out of the Mormon belief at 9 years old.
It was my mother. Her Mormon parents disowned her for divorcing my dad and leaving the church.
It was one of the promises the Mormons offer is family is forever.
They mistreated her. And I saw the impact at 8 years old.
And it left me wondering, what happened to my happy family?
I thought love within family is unconditional. I thought we were given choice.
Lies...all lies.
And since then I've never been easily influenced. I was really lucky.
Some heavy shit for a little boy to stomach.
Oh my god the irony of Joe discussing cult mentality is palpable as balls. This is art right here. ART.
You can palpate it? Magic hands.
@@jr8209 I stay palpin
human beings need meaning and they need human connection. cults give their members meaning and connection. coming from a materialist construct, these two see status as meaning, which it is a kind of meaning for a certain construct. i'd argue most cults offer a different kind of meaning, a more spiritual or deeper meaning, which is what makes them appealing. these two are so deep in the contemporary, western, secular construct that they really dont understand what religion is about.
“We’re the only animal that will kill itself” Damn bro, that line hits hard when the reality of what life on earth is trying to understand with everything that is here.

I really do feel like the smarter you are the worse time you have on planet earth. Some of the happiest people I've seen believe anything, don't retain much, eat and drink anything, laugh a bunch and just mosy about the day. Idk if we were meant to analyze and disprove everything because a lot of human structure is a lie and when you realize it, it's disappointing for your whole life thereafter
Democrats should hear this 😂
From what I have gathered from this video thus far everything can be applied just as much to Republicans if not more since rituals have a tendency to be treated as a sacred and a system of objects that are tied to subjects like the seat at the end of the kitchen table as the father's.
there are those who dont believe at all, those who understand it as accurately as possible, and those who believe it too literally and cant fully interpret what they believe good enough.

I always find it interesting that people involved in major religions don't believe they are in a cult.
If the idea is to teach good and not harming anyone else can it really be a cult there will always be bad apple

No they need to teach us how to learn and how to be sustainable on our own
