Joler Gaan, the multi-instrument band has seen a meteoric rise in popularity in the last few years among listeners of all tastes. Their styles of simplistic music with great lyrical depth and innovative arrangements with a wide range of acoustic instruments have made them the darlings of urban folk scene of Bangladesh. Their two albums have been instant hits, but their true fandom lies in their live performances.
An initiative of Sun Foundation; ‘Dhaka International FolkFest’ is a celebration of sheer musical brilliance where myriads of folk artistes from home and abroad perform on a single platform.
‘জলের গান’র গানের সহজ সুর, কথার গভীরতা আর ভিন্নধর্মী সংগীতায়োজনে বাংলা গানের শ্রোতারা পেয়েছে নতুনত্বের স্বাদ। শহুরে শ্রোতাদের কাছে খুব অল্প সময়েই জনপ্রিয়তা পেয়েছে জলের গান, নানা ধরণের এক্সপেরিমেন্ট ও নতুন নতুন ইন্সট্রুমেন্টের ব্যবহারে সমৃদ্ধ তাদের সংগীতায়োজন। কথা-গানের মেলবন্ধনে ভিন্ন ধরণের পরিবেশনা জলের গানকে করে তুলেছে আরও জনপ্রিয়।
সান ফাউন্ডেশনের উদ্যোগে আয়োজিত ‘ঢাকা ইন্টারন্যাশনাল ফোকফেস্ট’ লোকসংগীতের এক মিলনমেলা। এ উৎসবে বিশ্বের নানা প্রান্তের লোকসংগীত শিল্পীদের পরিবেশনায় অসাধারণ সব লোকগান শোনার সুযোগ পায় বাংলাদেশের মানুষ।
