    This week we try to troubleshoot an issue to see if it is what we think it is. The injectors in these old Fox Mustangs are 40 year old technology. An upgrade is in order, especially with a supercharger. So we bought a set of remanufactured Jetronic connector, single body injectors that are a direct replacement for 1986-1993 Fox Mustangs.
    The part number of what we installed in the car is.
    Bosch Part# 0280155746
    We are trying hard not to over restore this and find all the unique parts to it since it was a Bleakley Impressor Saleen. A very unique run of cars that is mostly well known in the Atlanta Georgia area where Bleakley Ford was the leading Saleen dealer in the late 1980's and early 1990's.
    Check out the blog we've been putting together on this car to see where we've come from and where we are now.

    Excellent info and a very worthwhile upgrade. I have a set of 4 hole injectors to put in with my upcoming GT40 head / ported stock intake / speed density upgrade. Although mine have the same thicker bodies like the original. Got them from eBay professionally cleaned and spray matched.

      @PuristMotorsports  2 года назад +2

      They are worth the upgrade for sure. Spray pattern is way improved and helps with throttle response. The 24lb injectors in my race motor I built are like yours. Old style body but 4 hole pintle.

    When I worked in the dealership in the 90's, Ford had a special machine to clean those old injectors. The newer injectors were said to be "deposit resistant". Good video.

    Make sense why I found out that my mom's 96 Ford E-350 Club Wagon with 351 Windsor have 3 different injectors. I was confused at first and trying to make sure if it was the correct one. I'll probably look out for the connectors when I get to it in 2 weeks. Thanks for the info.

      It’s been a while since I looked but I believe you are right on the green 42s. But a newer style should still spray better.

    Great video, I appreciate the information. Will an upgrade to Saleen/Vortech intake, twisted wedge heads and E-cam require me to switch to 24lb injectors?

    • @PuristMotorsports
      @PuristMotorsports  2 года назад +1

      That's a good question. If it were my combo, I'd be looking into that. The safe bet is 24lb injectors.

    Sorry to hijack the comments and I appreciate your video! I'm researching and before buying I just want to make sure they fit in the rail. Are some ev6 injectors too long I need 24lb injectors for a 97 cobra. It runs smooth now but I've replaced 3 injectors maybe 4 now so the rest won't be far behind.

    Can you use the v8 5.0 explorer injectors? They're the updated skinny injectors that are 19lbs. I'd imagine they'd work, no?
    I've heard folks have done the update and had good results.

    • @PuristMotorsports

      I think you are right. I focused more on the specific part number of the injector I used for the upgrade. It’s in the video. I want to say they were also used in the 4.6 SOHC Mustangs too.

    @Purist Motorsports I have a 1994 Ford F-150. It has a 302/ 5.0 so do you think this will work on it just plug it up and go or will I have to buy an adapter? Any feedback would be appreciated.

      @PuristMotorsports  Год назад +1

      Good question. Does that F150 have the orange injectors in it? I think it does. If so, these should work. But more research is needed to be 100% sure.

    • @PuristMotorsports
      @PuristMotorsports  Год назад +1

      What little I’ve dealt with in the new injectors hasn’t been a great experience on the older style connectors with the adapters. The adapters were causing intermittent connection issues. It was one more point of failure from what I dealt with. Take that for what it’s worth because the atomization of the new injectors is really good. Me personally, I’ll stay with the best injector that connects directly to the wiring harness being used.

    • @sandmansimms5704
      @sandmansimms5704 Год назад +1

      @@PuristMotorsports okay got you and thanks for the reply. This tuner on the mustang groups actually advised to use the pigtails versus the adapters did you think about using pigtails and splicing or solder? For me if I could get to it decently and splice it and be comfortable I would probably just splice it as in me. The ev6 4 hole that ballenger Motorsports have they all direct replacement to the Ev1 OEM connectors. I guess for me I would always like to go with the latest and greatest and just overall so I would love to use a TV for tens but yeah I'm not trying to have any issues or anything to be honest so I will likely not splice and just probably go with the EV6

    • @PuristMotorsports
      @PuristMotorsports  Год назад +1

      I’d definitely be a little more comfortable with pigtails. I wasn’t aware those are available. Splicing in the new connector is a good option if you can do it right but that needs to be done with great detail and care IMHO. You’re messing with the heart of your combo there. I think I’d go pigtails over splicing. I want to say what the issue with the adapters were that the tops of some of the injectors were getting pushed on by vacuum lines under the long runner side of the intake. It was causing intermittent issues.

      @@PuristMotorsports yeah I just have to kind of read up on things a little more and kind of do a little more research as to the components that I will be using and if anyone had any issues you know accelerate the panel what intake I'm going to be using.

    • @PuristMotorsports
      @PuristMotorsports  Год назад

      I’ve used them but have only based them on the color not part numbers. The light blue was 24lb and the red was 30lb. Again, I didn’t cross reference part numbers, I just based that on the colors as they seemed to be the same as the EV1’s.

    If you have a small cam with stock heads , this will make the car sound stock . They are excellent for stock applications, none cammed car or must be tunedr to fix this .
