Merci Normand 🇨🇦
Thank you very much my friend for your kind words!!! Have a Happy New Year with Health and happiness along with your build :) And if you need anything just ask me :)
I will miss her. It was a wonderful piece of workmanship and great narration throughout the series. Well done John, looking forward to seeing the Cutty Sark emerge from your shipyard. Many thanks.
The HMS Victory looks FANTASTIC!!!!!!! Cannot wait till you start the Cutty Shark. If I remember right from the unboxing video the yards look to be pre-shaped already. Wishing you and your family a Happy New Year and may God bless you and yours!🙂🙂🙂🙂
Hello John, i remember Wolf very fondly as he was always by your side on his bed as you crafted your museum quality creations. It was quite appropriate for you to dedicate your greatest effort to your greatest friend. Well done
John, congratulations - she is a real masterpiece and I have loved watching this series. so many great details - the copper plating, the detail on the boats, the hammocks….all done to such high quality Even though a ship of this complexity and quality is beyond me, I have still learnt a lot. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
hello John, it is realy a masterpiece that you made , learnd a some tricks so it is always useful to watch your builds, thank you, wish you a happy and healthy new year for you and all youre love ones , give Buddy and Wolf a verry big hugh. thank you
John, your work is outstanding. This ship is beautiful. You are a good teacher of your art. Totally enjoy watching your videos and using some of you techniques in my amateur work. Thank you. 35:08
John, You are amazing! Never get tired of hearing all of the praises you receive. You deserve it. I have done plastic models but The detail in a wood model is amazing. The hull scares the hell out of me. I don't know if I could get the same craftsmanship of laying all of the strips from the bow to the stern! By the way, My last plastic model was the Cutty Sark. Looking forward to the build.
John, Thank you for making all these videos of the Victory . I have been building along with you and your videos have be invaluable. Adding lights and sails have made this ship very special pete
John, I really in joy watching every one of your videos on making the ship. I know I was a pest asking you a lot questions but I have learned so much from you. The professional work and detail was extremely helpful. I have the HMS Victory and HMS Trinidad. I have all of your videos on both of them. Time is all I have now, my wife passed away in November. So you see, time is my peace maker. I will continue watching your ship building. God Bless. Ray
Wonderful videos John. I am always amazed at how quickly and expertly you can build your ship models, and especially Nelson's HMS Victory !! Best wishes and a Happy New year to you and your family !!
greetings! as always, excellent work, the result is very impressive, the ship turned out to be incomparable))) and you would like to wish a peaceful sky over your head and a Happy New Year 👍👍👍!!!
An impressive addition to your model ship collection. 👍 Why not build the Cutty Sark and the James Caird at the same time and alternate between the two. It might be an interesting challenge.
Thank you very much my friend!!! It is very hard to build 2 at the same time, different companies, different schematics, one bench , one mind, many many videos :)
John, it was a long journey, but well worth it. I learned so much from your videos. I only hope I can someday create a work of art like your HMS Victory. Job well done! You have the right to be proud of the outcome of your work. Happy New Year - Mike
John You sent me a note and asked for a reply on seeing my work. Thank you very much. My first suggestion is doing research and never trust that a kit is accurate. The manufacturers do not have the staff, time or money to do proper research or maybe do not care so it is up to the model assembler to do this if they care about accuracy. I realize many have little or no interest regarding accuracy but as it is likely just a hobby it may not be important for many folks. To see my work look at the two volumes of Euryalus 1803 from Seawatch books.
Hi Alan, i have to buy the books to see your work. Don't you have any photos or a video that i can see? And let me add one more thing, of course it is a hobby and there are thousands of people out there that wants to build a ship and be proud of that! They can choose only from companies that make wooden ship kits so they have to stick to their plans and schematics.
The first like but I think I'm the second comment. She is beautiful. For my second wooden ship build on your channel I'm loving it. Can't wait for the 3 one RIP Wolf THE 3rd Long live wolf the 4th.
John, thank you for sharing the build of this beatiful ship. Finally I made it to finish the whole series, it must have been a tremendous work to produce all the videos. Every part of the ship had to be painted, what a work. Was it very helpful to use an airbrush? Or could it have been done without? She is really lovely with the paint and the lights. Thank you, Harry
Hi Harry! I am glad that you have watched the full series and i am even more glad that you liked it! Just think that for a video of lets say half an hour, i need around 30-35 video that i have to edit. It's a very hard job and to make 2 videos per week need a lot of time. Thankfully i have a powerful PC that help me to reduce the time :) Yes the airbrush is very helpful especially when i had to paint the hull or the dead eyes. I could never had the same result with paint brushes. You can use paint brushes but like i said in some points it is impossible to achieve the same result. For instance with the dead eyes you will have the holes blocked by paint if you use a paint brush.
Loved watching you build this beauty John. Can I ask a quick please and it is how do you stop your super glue from drying out when you use the fine tips as there is no lid to these. Or is it a case you remove the tip and use the original lid and use a new tip each time you use the glue for the day? Many thanks Phil.
Glad that you liked it Phil!!! The small tubes are so small that the glue doesn't dry inside the bottle. Occasionally it dries at the end of the tip so i have to cut out a small piece each time.
@@JohnsWoodenShipsthanks for the reply John. So it’s safe to say that I can leave the tip in place without the rest of the glue in the bottle from drying out? Can’t wait for you to start on the Cutty Sark as the real ship is around a 30 min train ride from me.
@@philsreef746 I leave the bottle with the glue with the tube on for week and it doesn't dry, it is safe :) This Saturday you will watch the 1st video :)
Hello John, another work of art! I have question, can you please tell me the brand of the electric mini drill or maybe a link where to buy it? Thank you!
You wrote that "They can choose only from companies that make wooden ship kits so they have to stick to their plans and schematics." There are many folks that buy a kit then make modifications to make it look like the actual ship after taking the time to do a little research at places such as RMG, Preble Hall, and elsewhere at no cost. But, as you say, it is a hobby for most, not a job, so whatever makes the model assembler happy is what counts the most.
I read your response about posting free photos of my work. My publisher is in business to sell my books so it would be wrong for me to post the pictures for free. Sorry.
Where to start...... The copper plating is out of scale and looks like it is upside down (they were actually nailed with 1/4" nails, not large rivets), the cannon should be Blomefield pattern, the cannon carriages are not correct nor are the cannon rigging blocks, the gratings are totally unrealistic in construction and running in the wrong direction, the sail material and sewing is so far out of scale they should have been left off, the rudder pintles and gudgeons are out of scale, the stern lanterns look nothing like those of that era, the ship boats are completely unrealistic, and there is more. This kit is up there as one of the worst I have ever seen.
Allan it seems to me you are an expert, i would love to see your work and believe me even though i am not an expert like you, something tells me that i will find many things that will be wrong.
The only word that comes to mine is Magnificent. Truly a work of art,
Thank you very much!!!
