Im an old road dog out here for 35 years + and the basics your teaching never get old ! Keep up the good work brother may the wind be at your back and stay safe 🙏
Excellent training video. Checking for trailer registration is one of the most lacking pre-trips in our profession. You did a complete and outstanding job John, outstanding.
I always learn so much from your videos man. My trainers never told me to let the trailer settle when disconnecting, never showed me when decoupling to pull forward to pull the pin out then deflate the bags. Never showed me to tap the glad hands to prevent leaks which 75% of them did loose air overnight. Thank you so much for the videos man I've been watching for a few years now your fantastic
Not sure if anyone else noticed that you didn't check underneath if the jaws were locked on the with wheel from behind where the pin is and were the kegs strapped to the pallet? love your vids and good insight into how it works for you truckers in the US and wow so many trailers in the hookup yards. From New Zealand avid fan John. Thxs for sharing
Hey ! I’m a 20 year old trucker from Winnipeg MB, Canada. I haul city wide and I love watching your videos and getting the feel of the long haul life. Sweet videos man keep it up
JBG it makes me wish I was back on the road I drove for 40 years and I still have a lot of fun just watching you guys play with your truck on the road but I am to old be out there with you guys Chaplain Darrel
You should have moved the tandems all the way forward for better maneuverability, then slide them all the way back after you are in the spot. :) I drive the same truck and it doesn't turn on a dime. Just a suggestion. Keep it trucking! Great job!
Man I seen all those twisted teas and got extremely thirsty! Those things are delicious.. gonna suck giving them up for a new trucking career, but I'm sure very worth it.
I just finished my Roadmaster school training and will start orientation on monday, i chose Anheuser Bush account(a dedicated route) out of Columbus, Oh. Your videos will help me prepare me for what's in store
Hey JBG I'm from philly and I just want u to know I'm a big fan and keep making these video for me to watch while I'm at work, I enjoy them because I used to be a truck driver and now I'm a federal agent working for D.H.S
Great video. Not being a trucker, its nice to see how you prepare the truck and trailer. Here in UK the driver has a licence plate which he keeps with him so when he drops a trailer the licence plate he puts on the trailer matches the one on the truck. Also the trailer wheels are fixed.
Maxxi I just subscribed to your channel today, after following you for a while. I admire your Christian values. I really enjoyed your wide angle view of your cockpit while on the road the other day., which allowed me to observe the operation of the automatic transmission. it makes me wish I could drive one. I own a class A motor home with a 330 Cat diesel & an Allison 6 speed trans & I can't imagine how much fun it would be to drive a big ol' Kenworth or Pete across a mountain pass in the Rocky mountains! I figured out how to engine brake down Wolf Creek Pass in Colorado with that Allison in 2nd gear, without burning the foot brakes up, so I think I can speak with authority on the subect... Unfortunately, I'm too old to be doing it! Ha ha...
great reversing your videos are good i drive articulated trucks for supermarket in England we some times use 52 foot trailers they are tri axle the back axle steers has wide swing we can be a nightmare
Here in the UK we use 3 axle trailers with what we call super single tyres. We also operate at 44 metric tonnes or 96800lbs. This is for general everyday haulage. Also noticed that when connecting to the trailer you didn't have a securing 'dog clip' to prevent the locking arm on the 5th wheel popping out.
Hi there. When you back onto a trailer and the hear the 'click' that is a steel arm being released that locks the jaws onto the king pin. On this arm is a handle that you have to manually pull out in order to allow the jaws to unlock and drop the trailer off. A dog clip or you could call it a snap lock is used to prevent this arm from accidentallly popping out and risk the chance of the jaws opening and the trailer being dropped off inadvertently. It's a safety device. Many dog leads have this type of clip to attach to the collar, hence the name dog clip. Hope you understand what I mean.
since all the trucks i drove never had a suspension gauge i had to figure out how much weight was per hole. some trailers had holes spaced 1 inch apart, so you had to move it back and forth, a lot of holes, and some trailers had 3 inches between holes, those were the best, except Calif with their mandatory bridge law, you had a lot of room to move the trailer tandems. if you're driving in snow, you want weight on your drives.
someone that knows how to drop a trailer!! high dropped trailers suck :( I go to your terminal in depere all the time to unload or reload, love the complimentary coffee !!!!
I was this guy who ask you for 4 pipes behind you cab and over agregator. You tell me for what you use this 2 little tubes with black And now i understand for whay you use this 4 pipes for you load. :)
This is the second video I watched of yours you are a good truck driver keep up the great work also I know where Eau Claire Wisconsin is I live an hour away from there...BEER.
Nicely done, only difference for me especially at night which was 90%of my driving, I always do a visual on my pins, yard men put sets together, but you pull out and drop a trailer or two , it’s on you. Don’t know much about companies like this one, are you a company or lease
You aren't wrong. But the MAIN reason for sliding the tandems is mostly about adjusting the weight to be in compliance with the bridge/weight laws set by the miserable feds.
Ps. Mr. Jhon I've been moving freight close to 36 years and I will never figure out why in the world every single forklift driver always loads the nose heavy and plum scared to load over the trailer tires. 34000 is all you have to work with on ground pressure but no one remembers you can load the trailer tires heavier than the nose cause the drives has two heavy differentials and a fifth wheel plus a refrigeration unit that takes away from the load weight where there is absolutely nothing on the rear axle. Now why in the world is that so hard for loaders to figure out? Just saying. Almost always as with the load here you just picked up look how much floor room you have by the back doors where they could have spread the pilot's out just a bit for even load distribution. That's exactly what causes jackknifes is the nose is heavier than the rear.
Good backing there... Loadlocks are not for show! Depending on what kind of load perhaps. Shifting loads and capsized pallet cleanup is not cheap, nor fun nor productive..
1 not all trucks run the same tire size as your truck 2 not all trucks have the same ride height as set on the truck you drive 3 do you keep extra glad hands on your truck because hitting them with a hammer will break them they are made of cast aluminum 4 why would you not but a load lock on the kegs that are just laying on top of a pallet 5 did you go back to see if the tandem slide pins was locked after you slid the tandems forward
3) I'm sure he does 4) they're probably secured to the pallet somehow 5)he legit answers question about them so yea he even pointed at them, you can also tell when your driving and your axles are locked in and not moving freely
it 's where the engine runs away uncontrollably on an alternate fuel source ie ( turbo seal leaking oil into air stream ) and can' be shut off . if you ever run into this scenario a CO 2 fire extinguisher into the intake will take away the oxygen and stop combustion and stop the engine

Very smooth backing maneuver and no G.O.A.L 😎

This channel is unique, its like a big tutorial

Love your vids from the uk
I cant wait till backing skills get nice like yours

I pray you get more drop and hooks in the future, JBG!
Andrew Haverson me too haha
You got this get and look alway do that it the easy way
as right now I'm in the same place picking up beer going to Bow NH. hahahaha
Yea those glad hands will be nice and tight, right up until you bust one off the trailer. I've seen it happen at my shop plenty of times.
Some people think divering easy
Thanks
That looks fun to have a auto trans
Those Automatic transmissions have Trouble when you’re backing into a trailer you back it in and it just kind of sits there and then WAM it slams
Wasn't a bad shot backing in, you did well
This is the second video I watched of yours you are a good truck driver keep up the great work also I know where Eau Claire Wisconsin is I live an hour away from there...BEER.
Jbg you are inspiring

Do Not forget to lock the tandems back in place...
Very good johnie too be good
Keep al you sure
Man, this is great stuff
saludos yonny bonitos videos
real pro
juseph29 it's all Blue, i ma just along for the ride haha
+JBG TRAVELS my question is do you keep the same truck all the time or do you get different trucks
Good job sir & good drive
Your back at the bub plant in old st Louis lol
should check kingpin gate is closed when hooking up also
Wouldn't sliding tandems back make the turning radius better for you to park?
Nice video
I think it would be easier if you had the tendems forward so the trailer can turn better ??? maybe Im wrong
You aren't wrong. But the MAIN reason for sliding the tandems is mostly about adjusting the weight to be in compliance with the bridge/weight laws set by the miserable feds.
I think he meant it would be easier to back up with the tandems forward not drive on the roads and I agree.
If the tandems were forward, the back of the trailer would have swung out and hit the other trailer. Little guy show has a vid about it
Jbgfan
tight as hell damn
Great video.
GOAL sir

It is not a requirement in Wisconsin. That you have to say drop and hockey
God job
I can't believe you guys are still using Glad Hands
Why wouldn't we? They come in handy more times than you think and personally I think all trucks should be installed with them.
Good backing there... Loadlocks are not for show! Depending on what kind of load perhaps. Shifting loads and capsized pallet cleanup is not cheap, nor fun nor productive..
3Dtimespace when i opened the trailer in wisc, the load bars were on the floor and the load was intact. yes, they do help at times though
you think there would backup cams on trailers?
you dont have trailernumber on that side where you hook? maybe you just use waterproof marker and write on it? so its more easy to pick up next time?
BEER!!!!!
1 not all trucks run the same tire size as your truck
2 not all trucks have the same ride height as set on the truck you drive
3 do you keep extra glad hands on your truck because hitting them with a hammer will break them they are made of cast aluminum

4) they're probably secured to the pallet somehow
5)he legit answers question about them so yea he even pointed at them, you can also tell when your driving and your axles are locked in and not moving freely
*********** you are awesome and how hard is how hard is it to swap a trade roll
Believe It!!!
How's it going buddy? Been watching your videos for a while, but I never see you check your brake lights on the truck or trailer
nice video
What’s the company name your drop and hookup for it
Wow

I thought you would do this after you get into your spot Johnny more turning room that way
Jb. G. Anth oy comuso
Yeah but having tandem back you have no overhang..?
Hey JBG do automatics have the same power as manuals? Which do u like better i would think automatics would be alot easier in citys and traffic jams

How the hell yo truck give gas in the refrigerator wagon
It's got it's own separate fuel tank underneath the trailer
Johnny have you ever had a runaway engine
I don't know what that is?
it 's where the engine runs away uncontrollably on an alternate fuel source ie ( turbo seal leaking oil into air stream ) and can' be shut off . if you ever run into this scenario a CO 2 fire extinguisher into the intake will take away the oxygen and stop combustion and stop the engine
