In my recent work with Will Ramos, I've become somewhat obsessed with the nuances present with different extreme vocalists.
Will can make so many sounds with so many different variations on each sound and technique... I never really thought I'd hear another extreme vocalist with that kind of variety.
I was wrong. Mental Cruelty's new vocalist, Lukas Nicolai is absolutely NUTS. Not only can he scream, growl, goblin, tea kettle etc... But he also has a crazy developed aggressive MIXED VOICE!
Just WOW!! I have the HUGE privilege of analyzing the isolated vocals from one of the coolest tracks off their brand new album: Obsesses a Daemonio. It's amazing all the detail both in the vocals and the production you get to absorb and learn from when you can hear the original STUDIO ISOLATED Vocals!!

Lukas is such a magnificent vocalist. Really love how he puts emotions into his vocals, especially on the later songs on the album. He has a one take vocal playthrough of their song “Symphony Of A Dying Star”, very beautiful and shows how he’s capable of doing his vocals in a live setting

Just a few weeks before the first single dropped I was at a small show here in Germany where a band called suneater headlined after the band of a friend of mine. I remember being extremely impressed by their vocalist as soon as he started warming up, spitting these insane sounds while walking around whole body completely relaxed. The show was insane. Imagine my surprise when the new mental cruelty dropped and that new singer looked very familiar 😂
Love his voice and the new mental cruelty album slaps hard
I LOVE their song Nordlys, I haven't heard such a great combination of deathcore and black metal before, even in bands like Lorna Shore
Their new album is insanely good
I mean we kinda can compare them to Lorna but for me their sound is much different, They are more athmospheric and blackened and thats why I love them.
Don’t for get folk metal too
Also MC’s writing is way more dynamic, they play a lot with tempos and little flairs, Lorna feels like it’s just stuck in blasbeats,breakdown,solo

Yesssss more of this!!! This is great. Maybe I'm missing them but i haven't seen too many isolated harsh vocals, and your in depth descriptions really help put focus on all those lil intricacies
Ya, I haven't come across many of these either... which is why I was SO excited to be able to do this! I got these directly from the band!
The whisper is how I played around for a while. Then while playing with my dog I started growling and I was like “oh, that’s how you make these sounds”. The placement are sense from all the whisper practice. Still have lots to play and practice with but having fun…and staying safe! Thanks for your videos!

Is there a video with Will Ramos that shows the difference between what the growls and goblins sound like with a clean input VS the studio package(the small bits of distortion/reverb/etc.)? I'm sure it's part of the course, I just couldnt find it super quickly. I've been a vocalist for years, so its hard to know where to jump in lol

I read somewhere in another video that the clean vocals are done by another member of the band, guitarist Nahuel Lozano, but I dunno if thats true. He isnt listed as vocals anywhere, so take that with a grain of salt.

its been a couple of years since i started singing i can hit high notes like c5 or D5 if i support my voice how ever my voice sounds like it doest have that ringing or buzzing or that resonance quality its does not sound good at all and it is absoulotly unplesent in the upper part(above f#4 do you have any suggerstion or tip for me?
