    Thank You for saying this Brother Josiah ! Sometimes I feel like some people are better than me because they seem to have always lived a life that pleased God (Jesus) unlike me who fell short, repented and confessed. I sometimes measure myself up with certain Christian influencers to the point where I am comparing Sin in the ways that I have felt short versus the ways they had or hadn’t and I think to myself “ How can I be more like them?” When the question should be “How can I be more like Jesus?!” The struggle is also tough in Church because we’re expected to always smile and not have an ounce of sadness because then people think that there is something wrong or habitual sinning because we’re not happy all the time and this can be dangerous because now we start putting on a show to please others and to me; this is something that displeases God. Acting like everything is okay when it’s not. Sometimes it gets to the point when I become afraid to cry in Church because I do not want to ruin the experience, you know?! I am sorry for the long message. I am happy that someone else gets it and understands that there are hard parts about being Christian. Neither am I condoning sin and saying that we as Christians should live a lifestyle of sin but some of us have real struggles and it’s not just like gossip, lying, or getting angry everyone now and then. But, some of us struggle with the flesh badly and really work hard to overcome it and die to self. I know this isn’t everyone’s story and that everyone is different! Thank You again for sharing and making this video! Be Blessed my Brother in Christ ! 🙏🏾☺️

    Broooo. This is literally the reason I made my channel. I was so sick of Christians trying to keep up this facade of their lives being perfect that I felt I needed to make content for REAL Christians (ya know, people that struggle from time to time). The NF quote is the icing on the cake lol. Loved this video

      Thanks my guy! I feel like our generation is waking up to the reality that so many of today's Christians are still trying to please God by being perfect, and we're realizing that God is glorified so much more when we show that we're imperfect.

    I think christian influencers need to be honest more and talk about the downsides of being famous or an influencer or the struggles whether they are on RUclips, Facebook, tik tok or instagram. They don’t need to create this perfect ‘christian life’ which we all know is not real life and it’s making ordinary Christian’s feel just not good enough or pretty enough or rich enough or not Godly enough or invisible perhaps and sets unrealistic expectations about life being “perfect” as soon as you become a christian and doesn’t talk about the sacrifices and challenges that come along with it. I think some famous christian influencers struggle to recognise their wealth, privilege and platform and the responsibility they have to actually portray a real authentic christian life. But then again this is the problem with social media as a whole it’s very narcissistic and look at me and only showing your highlights and not lowlights… it connects us with people all over the world but disconnects us with people at the same time.. it’s ironic really. It’s a beast that can be used for good or evil and sometimes the good is not always as Godly as they want it to appear. We are living in interesting times in 2022, and now we have tik tok lol.. Lord help us all. I think after the pandemic people got sick of the perfect influencer narrative on RUclips and Instagram and turned to tik tok for some real down to earth and even funny content lol. The pandemic changed things but there is still a lot that needs to change with the way Christian’s consume social media! God bless all.

    Im not a religious person, however i believe there's great value in what you are saying and how it applies to people with large social media platforms in general. there is a feeling that they promote a "current perfection" rather than a continuous journey of self improvement. every one has moments where we succumb to negative thought and feelings, influencer or not, religious or not. it is a massive part of being human to experience these feeling and learn from them how to be a better person and this often is drowned under a false positive narrative. i appreciate your video very much

      1) Thank you for watching the video and being willing to listen to me even though we have different worldviews. It's so encouraging for me to know that even non-Christians can find value in my videos and in what God is speaking through me.
      2) I absolutely agree. If someone only ever has good days, I don't think I'd trust them lol. The highs and lows of life are what make us human, so to act like you can reach a point where life's all good and then present the story to your audience that your life's always good, it's deceptive and dangerous, especially for younger/more vulnerable viewers. I don't want a platform myself if I can't use it to spread the gospel the way it's meant to be spread: with honesty.

      @@JosiahNordquist absolutely! People with online presence should use their platforms to encourage their influentiable audience to experience the negative and learn from it, not shame them for feeling human emotions everyone feels.
      Im happy I found your channel!

    This is so so true I love Sadie Robertson Huff and a lot of christian influencers but they do tend to post the perfect instagram pictures and videos to make their lives look so perfect … or do these amazing RUclips videos or tik tok videos. Sure they talk about hard things they have been through but not nearly enough as we ordinarily non famous non rich Christian’s need to hear. I like the speakers on the gospel coalition they are real and honest also Girl Defined, Paul and Morgan and so on:)

    That honesty is so needed to break down those "pedestals" people can get put up on. It frees those people too from so much pressure

    • @JosiahNordquist
      @JosiahNordquist  3 года назад +1

      Absolutely! While we should hold our teachers to high standards (James 3:1), we shouldn't believe or be convinced that they're sinless, as that would elevate them to Jesus status. And you're right; when influencers are open about their struggles, it frees them from the Imposter Syndrome that wearing a mask can attract.

    This was really encouraging to me. I’m new to making videos here on RUclips and my videos arent specifically about my faith, but I am a Christian. But I do know it can be easy to want to give a very specific image of myself and want to leave out the hard things. This definitely encouraged my heart to think about the way I use my platform. Thanks for being open and sharing your experience with this! :)

      I'm new to this whole RUclips thing as well, but believe me, even in the few months since posting this video, it's been very difficult to try and keep things honest. I have to remind myself that honesty may not attract everyone, but it will attract the people I want to surround myself with. I hope your channel keeps growing!

    This video is 3 yrs old, but, highly applicable now in 2024. Christian influencers has rocketed in popularity, and actually there are now sub categories of this, ie trad wives, mom influencers, slow lifestyle and the like. (I'm a mom who recently became aware of these trends) But was very surprised and concerned with what I was seeing this spread within the Church. Anyway, you made great points in what you've been observing, and backing your concerns with the Bible. Hope you're doing well and remaining close to Christ. Especially during these very unprecedented times.

    I’m just starting out my influencer page and this video is a great warning. Thank you! My convictions starting the page were the following: not to water down the Gospel, to share raw truths and not to self promote and to raise discussions about real life issues and the struggles with my walk. This is important brother to talk about well done! I like how you didn’t try to bring anyone down. God bless you!

    Amen bro. Love this and I have definitely been guilty and am guilty of this. Not so much as an influencer but have acted like I have it all together especially at church. But yeah then other Christian’s make you don’t your relationship with God or maybe I’m not saved because everyone else seems to be doing better in their walk with Christ, their not battling these thoughts or sins. But everyone has those tough seasons, dry seasons. But yeah it definitely is something I’m healing from
