- DAMN THIS IS A BIG FOOD CHALLENGE! Today we are taking on a Vermont style Calzone Challenge! This is the Calmungo challenge in Wilmington Vermont in the Burlington VT area, taking on the biggest calzone challenge (like a pizza challenge) I have ever seen. This new haven pizza joint Ramunto's has been offered for many years and failed hundreds of times! The meal cost $35 and has a 45 minute time limit in order to get the meal for free and a free tshirt plus the wall of fame! Fail, and you join the wall of fame and pay for the giant Italian food challenge! Can we beat this giant food challenge? Or will we fall short and fail this challenge like the many others?

Joel is such a gentleman. Doesn’t really complain and still kills the challenge. He could’ve taken a 15 minute nap and still succeeded lol.. I’ve never seen that much cheese on a calzone. That was definitely intentional. Great job Joel!

I have a local spot I've always loved that has a Stromboli that's probably a little bigger than this, I'd say 9-10lbs on average and they put so much cheese in it it's insane. Most of the Stromboli has a solid 1-1 and 1/2 inch layer of cheese across. It's delicious and also something that I am full off of the first piece I cut off of it and there are leftovers for a week lol

You knocked this one out. I worked in that plaza and that is by far the BIGGEST calzone. He tried to get you on this one. That's more cheese than they put on 3 pizzas and those pizzas are big. You did a great job. Can't wait to go in and say something about this challenge. Good job!!!!
I’ve been there several times during the challenges, and that was the biggest one I’ve seen. Completely unfair. Glad you were able to still kill it. 😮😅😅😅

Probably was bigger, but the perspective is somewhat hard to judge. Food on a stand up in the camera vs a shot far away, but then again, I've seen Joel eat that 15kg+ sushi challenge, absolute madman, probably the one doing the biggest challenges out there.
It's bad business and I hope everyone gets the word DON'T eat there because the owner is an asshole.
It was definitely wrong of them to double or triple the size of the original. I cant stand it when places cheat people like that.

It’s the normal size of the large calzone from there and it’s in Williston Vermont it’s like the only famous challenge we have in vt lol

It very well may be bigger but do notice Joel is using a tricky camera angle. The plate is propped up on something so the food is extra big on screen.
Still very much does look huge though but you can't compare a flat plate to a propped up one angled at the camera.
I would never go there..the owner made it with extra big and extra cheese...so upset that he did that...my boy you handled that very good..I'm sorry that happened...on the other part..I can't thank you enough for sharing your experience there ..your amazing..
I feel the same. The one good thing I got out of the owner adding too much food is he lost that much more inventory for free lol

I noticed the record was 8:00 and Randy did it in 12:52. Both of which I'm sure you would have shattered if your calzone was the same size as theirs.

@amberteard1068 he's done a few bigger challenges in the past like a 10lb top sirloin challenge. He just prefers the smaller 5-7lb challenges. He's not terrible at all.

That calzone looked good on the outside but once you opened it up, everything didn’t even look cooked lol I can’t even imagine doing a contest like this and not enjoying the food really lol
Always will come and watch your content! Such a good energy. Can't lie, at first I thought it was fake, but after watching how people try to disrespect you at competitions, even if you curse them out behind the camera, you seem like a good dude and an even better sport/gentleman/etc. Also just went back to see how you stay in shape after eating so much!!! Yeah, they definitely made the calzone for you way bigger than they did for Randy, and it looks like they added 3x the cheese.. But you're always a good sport, and I know you would smash that challenge regardless. That's why you're the best, Joel.

I prefer the ingredients to be softer and more cooked, and I love to have ricotta in my calzones. I tend to cut it in strips , they didn’t give you a knife? You did very well on this one!
Joel always a gentleman and a pro. I’m still not over the whole quesadilla challenge where it was supposed to be $1000 prize and they changed it to 500,but made quesadilla bigger, just two weeks before he arrived . That was so wrong. And that entire video he remained professional , but nothing Was said about the taste of the food, and there were no comments like “compliments to the chef”. It was pure business nothing more nothing less. But it was done with class, one of the many reasons I love to watch Joel’s videos. So glad to have discovered these a few weeks ago. I originally saw one video of Joel at a state fair where he was trying all the different foods. And then a few weeks ago, I saw one of the challenges and I’m like wait this guy looks so familiar.. my husband and I have been watching him ever since.
Man i wish all pizza places would use that much toppings and cheese in thier calzones and panzerottis and pizza's cuz that looked crazy good well done joel...

It's interesting that it didn't have sauce inside. This one was definitely bigger compared to the others. Great job! I remember my and my brother and I eating just a bowl of melted cheese as children, this is a good challenge for cheese lovers!

Lived in Vermont for many years. (Stowe area) I'm a lover of pizza and calzones. I worked at a pizza place in Morrisville VT (House of Pizza) and made tons of calzones in my day. Nothing the size of this one but when done right so tasty. Joel you crushed it as always!

Just finished watching Joel and you were so right about the cheese,no need of that amount of cheese, You know by now how I feel about these cheap joints that dont offer you a cash reward, I think you more than deserve that everytime you take on a challenge, I really enjoy the ones you do where the owners really appricate you and the amount of food you can put away, its not easy thing to do and these kind owners know this and not only that they are smart to give you cash reward,that really shows how good the place is and how nice the owners are.
