Thank you for sharing your perspective on the impact of Moreland University's TEACH-NOW program for teachers seeking certification. Your comment on the value of the programming given the instructors, learning, and platform was enlightening for me. I would be interested in knowing more about how this program has impacted your teaching journey now that you have graduated!
That's a great question. First of all, I would like to say thank you very much for watching the video and commenting your thoughts about these experiences. I would say implementing a lot of the things that I learned from my cohort and the instructors has been a continuous process. You know the saying if you don't use it you lose it. So I do my best to always think about and plan and act on strategies that were discussed during the course. I think one of the most impactful things that I received from the course was interacting with the other cohort members. That's what made the experience unique and that is what I will always remember.
Thanks so much for this useful video , I enrolled for M.ed for next term, I am a health sciences teacher for grades 11 &12 in the UAE, would be great if we had a chance to talk further or collaborate... best of luck !
Thank you for your video. I recently started the Moreland program for teacher certification, and I would like to know more about the Praxis test that you mentioned. Could you please share your experience and any information you have about the test? Thank you.
@user-pf6fo3wc2d thanks for stopping by and I'm glad the video was useful. I'm sorry, though, because I never took the Praxis test since I never plan on teaching in the US. I recommend searching for Praxis RUclips channels or articles to get a feel for what to prepare. For sure you'll need to finish the Moreland program before taking the Praxis.
I started my M.Ed in June 2021 and if all goes well and I'm able to get registered for the classes that I need then I will finish in November 2022 this year.
Hello. Thanks for the info. With regards to the M.Ed do you get the three weekly assignments per module? So if you have 2 modules you basically have 6 assignments per week and if you have 3 modules you'd have 9 assignments for the week. Also, are these assignments the only measurements used to determine what your grade is at the end of the term? Good luck with the rest of your Masters.
Thanks for asking. The UoPeople M.Ed. program has a total of 8 units per course. In each unit, which lasts 1 week, there are 3 written assignments (Discussion, Written, and Portfolio). If you're taking 2 courses that means you'll have 6 written assignments per week. In addition, there is 1 Group Project per course that usually happens between units 3-6. These four types of assignments are the only way of determining your grade. Discussions make up 20%, Written 25%, Portfolio 30%, Group Project 25%. I hope this helps.
@@BookMattic Awesome, thanks for the reply. One more question. As it is divided into different units, are you allowed to work ahead if you have time? For example the portfolio part or even the written assignments. I understand the discussions you can't work ahead because you need to wait for other people.
Thanks a lot for the detailed breakdown of the studies! And congratulations on finishing the courses (I guess both of them?)!🎉 I wanted to ask, have you eventually taken the praxis test and received the license? (I’ve read on one of the comments that you weren’t sure to go on with the test). Do you mind sharing what’s the end of that path and how was the process of getting the license? Thanks!
Hello Zarinasa, it's nice to hear from you. I completed both courses and obtained my M.Ed degree in May. However, I decided not to pursue the Praxis exam and other requirements as I do not intend to teach in the United States. If you would like to know my overall impression of the UoPeople program, you can watch my recent video. ruclips.net/video/_Y9LQ88XFXE/видео.htmlsi=IlngwH5Tjk9ebu6n
Thanks for all the information! I’m currently taking the certification program at Moreland University but I’m thinking of continuing the process to getting the masters degree from Moreland. Do you think this would be a good idea or should I get my masters from another university? Another question: how was the licensing test? Please give an update on that. Thank you!
Hi Jaida, good to hear from you and I hope that the program is moving smoothly for you. Which module are you currently doing? I'm not too familiar with what the Master's program is like at Moreland but if it's anything like the TEACH-NOW program I'd prefer a more independent learning program like University of the People (no weekly meetings 😉). As for the test, I haven't done it yet, but I plan on doing it after June as I will be traveling to Portland Oregon, where I'm from, which is where they mailed my certificate of completion of the TEACH-NOW Teaching Certification Program. After I complete the test, I'll definitely film and publish an update video.
@@BookMattic Thanks for the update, I'll be definitely waiting for your video after you take the licensing test. Wishing you the best of luck. I'm currently about to start module 7 this week. Module 6 was very intense and challenging because of pacing and the work load. I feel like the modules keeping getting harder haha but I'm almost half way so that’s a bright side to look at.
@@JaidaMostafaa perfect, well you are almost there. Keep it up and you'll make it through. To be honest, I'm not sure if I'm going to go through with taking the test as I plan on moving out of the K-12 system. If you get the chance please do let me know how it goes for you.
I believe that if you are a part-time student that you can only take one course per term but if you are a full-time student you can take two to four courses per term as long as your GPA is above a certain amount.
This was very helpful! I just applied to UoP for the Master Ed. I'm scared and excited! How was it evacuating the work of your peers? Were they fair in how they assessed your work? I am just wondering how much of that will affect my grades overall.
That is very great to hear Tanya. I am at the very last part of my Master's of Education. Just four more courses to take including the applied research which seems a bit scary! But I think I might take the next term off because I'm exhausted. I will be making another updated video as I finish the program in the coming six months or less. To answer your question, everyone is fair in their assessment, but one thing that I wish I saw more of is detailed explanations and more constructive feedback. But when it comes down to the end, it is that paper that we are trying to achieve. The paper and the knowledge and experience that go with it. If we can achieve and receive that paper then regardless of the feedback we get, it is worth it.
@@tanyas.9688 There is a portfolio you have to prepare and it has a presentation aspect for that by one of the last courses. And one of the last couple of courses is applied research where you have to write a thesis-type paper. If you have already done a thesis in the past, I believe there is a way that you can bypass the applied research paper by providing proof that you have written a thesis. But I have never written one before so I'm going to have to write one now.
If I'm not mistaken, QTS is the British equivalent to the Teacher Certification in the US. You'd have to check the regulations of your school whether they would accept a US based teacher certification.
Great question. I did not take the state licensing yet as I do not plan on teaching in the US. I took the certification program because it was required by my school in Indonesia. TEACH-NOW does do all they can to help you get qualified as a teacher in the US as they have advisors and forums to help you through the process.
I do believe that University of the People has tutorial videos and frequently asked questions about how to use the Moodle platform. But about the specific courses themselves they deal with a lot of reading samples from scientific journals with some additional RUclips videos here and there. I hope my answer is helpful.
Hey there, I was only able to register for one course next term, as it was the only one available, which starts in the middle of June. So it looks like my graduation might be pushed back one term because I would prefer not to take three courses in one term ever again. Taking three courses was very time-consuming and tough to balance work, life, and study. How about yourself?

The condition must be proficient in eng..but my eng is moderate..so can I proceed to apply it?
I also ran into the issue where I couldn't get into my courses :)
Yep we learn from our experiences. From now on I always put the reminder on my calendar and I get in immediately as registration opens.

Okey is there vedios in uopeople to understand the materials or just reading ?

The majority is reading-based. It works out to about 90/10. Of course, you can use videos as supporting research.
