Glory to God Pastor David! I started reading Hebrews this past week after we were challenged to read it in church and my eyes are opening to so many things I'd never seen in Hebrews before. I read Hebrews 4 but couldnt understand it fully so i went on a search and landed on this video. I'm so glad i got to listen.
Best line i had 'The Reality is Jesus.' And i am still crying because more and more I'm seeing that legalism and inconsistencies in my life have come from a place of not resting in God and putting full faith armor in Christ. God bless you and Enduring Word. Love to you all from Kenya.

We are about to enter the sabbath millennial ‘rest’. 6000 years since Adam... 1000 years rest with Christ (Rev 20) when He comes for the church. The Lord is coming very soon. Have Him in the centre of your life every day and be in right relationship with Jesus. What a saviour we have in Jesus. May God bless you all 🙏

This is so helpful (from 30:46 to 31:03) That difference in intention illustrates the key for me: thanks so much for making that clear. I struggle with the following question you ask yourself at times (regarding your intention when doing good deeds) as well; and, if I can keep that phrase, "...you stop from your self-justifying works" in my mind I can tell it's already going to be a tremendous help. Philippians 2:12, 13 tells us...
12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; 13 for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.
God works in us (energetically) to give us the desire and then the abilities to do good works. God works those things into us: desire and ability.
But as verse 12 says, we have to "work it out". We have to have the faith, determination, and follow through.
I hope that this helps. Blessings!

Stop. You created your own definition of REST. Define it according to how Hebrews defined REST. Not some weird guy’s philosophy. Why are you leaving the Bible to define God’s Rest.
Hebrews alluded what that rest was literally in the 4th verse:
“For He spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, and God did rest from all of his works.”
Paul is talking about the 4th Commandment. He is talking about the SABBATH!
How can one have faith without reflecting God’s commandments?
Paul says Faith without works is dead.
We aren’t saved by our works but our works are a reflection of the faith we have in us.

Romans 5 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
    3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope:
5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.
8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.
12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.
14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.
15 But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.
16 And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification.
17 For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)
18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.
19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
20 Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:
21 That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.

It's so refreshing to hear a message about entering into God's rest today rather than after we die and go to heaven. I don't believe the rest spoken of in the book of Hebrews has anything to do with going to heaven or going to hell when we die. The account of the rebellion in the wilderness was the topic at hand. Those of Num14 are the example of those not entering into the rest of God but made subject to aimless wandering. At least in the relative perspective, this appears to be the case. We know in the perspective of the absolute this rebellion was also according to the purpose of the One Who is operating all in accord with the counsel of His will. (Eph1:9-11)
After all, who volunteers to be the example of what not to do?

Who makes us competent to mix together the necessary faith with the hearing of the word that we might profit from it?
I believe Paul has an answer for that within hus letter to the Colossians...
      Colossians 1:9-13
CLV(i) 9 Therefore we also, from the day on which we hear, do not cease praying for you and requesting that you may be filled full with the realization of His will, in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, 10 you to walk worthily of the Lord for all pleasing, bearing fruit in every good work, and growing in the realization of God;" 11 being endued with all power, in accord with the might of His glory, for all endurance and patience with joy;" 12 at the same time giving thanks to the Father, Who makes you competent for a part of the allotment of the saints, in light, 13 Who rescues us out of the jurisdiction of Darkness, and transports us into the kingdom of the Son of His love

The KJV says Jesus instead of Joshua. I understand now why that is because of the interpretation. But I can’t tell you how many times I read my Bible not catching that until last year.
I think I cried for hours that day because I realized I hadn’t been grasping what I was reading. But that day it hit me and I was like, what does this mean if Jesus had given them rest? Of course Jesus gave them rest!
Oddly enough, I have a reference Bible and had never looked at the number and looked at the column reference on it. That’s when I saw it meant Joshua. That’s also when I found out it’s the same in Acts.
I wonder how many people like me have been reading those verses wrong for years. And those that don’t have a reference Bible.
I love my KJV but that alone almost made me switch.

Jesus offers this perfect peace which He stated that he leaves with the believers. Obviously this rest is to be entered into via the Spirit. @@twowitnessesbibleandwellne5600 The rest remained after the law was given. It was not a day as much as it is a spiritual rest refferred to which is in Christ. This is why Paul stated not to contend about days. Romans 14:5. We miss the whole point of the Rest that remains for God's people if we think of this in terms of a day. It is God's rest! It is not based upon the law. It is by faith and only entered into via the Spirit... if you keep a day well and good but every single day is to be walked into by faith in the finished work of God in Christ with the spirit of God. I rest my case in the Rest of God as a spiritual Rest that God desires that we enter. If Christ fulfilled the law then why do we need to place an emphasise that one day is more important than another. The Rest is a permanent state 24 x 7. Do you really think God treats one day more holy than another! We tend towards legalism and miss the entire point of Spiritual Rest when we focus our faith on a day. *It’s text so excuse me if my words sounds if I’m being rude*
First we must understand what Rest is. Rest is when we no longer trust in OUR efforts or understanding to get anything done in His kingdom or for any provision in our life. Rest is simply when we trust in God to provide to help, to bring things to pass etc. when we rest we do not neglect works for it is by works that PROVE our faith and we see that in Hebrews 11. If I gave you a check abs said cash this it has 1M dollars on it. How would I know you believed me? Would it bc you said “yea I believe you bro” and just sat back down “believing” NO!! I would know you believed me when you get up and take the check to the bank to cash it THEN you would have proven to me that you believed me. Same with God when God tells us to do something or not to worry about something we OBEY him in our works and by our OBEDIENCE we show that we trust/rest in God and in his word alone

God's calling you. Do you know the gospel? Allow me to share
I have a question for you to consider. Are you and I good enough to meet God's standard of righteousness? Do we qualify for heaven? God shows us whether or not we are.
Would you consider yourself to be a good person?
How many lies have you told, and what do you call someone who lies? Have you ever stolen something, no matter how small, and what do you call someone who steals? Have you ever taken God's name in vain/blasphemed, even ‘OMG’? That’s taking the name of the God who gave you life and using it in the place of a cuss word - would you do that with your mother’s name? Have you ever dishonoured your parents? Jesus said whoever looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery in his heart. Have you ever looked with lust? Most people probably have broken all 5 of these commandments. I myself have. I’m not judging you but if you have done these things then you’re a lying, thieving, blasphemous, rebellious adulterer-at-heart by your own admission. That's only 5 of the 10 commandments. God is fully just so he must and will punish every and all sin (which is departure from/rebellion towards God and the conscience) when he judges us. He cannot simply cancel our debt and let us go, or else he would be unjust. If you went into the courtroom and said: ‘Yes Judge, I’ve done these things but I also give money to the Red Cross and volunteer at an old-age home. I try my best to love people’ the judge is not going to take that into consideration. You’ve broken the law; the good you’ve done won’t help at all on the day of judgement.
If he judges you by the moral law will you be innocent or guilty? Heaven or Hell. The answer is Hell. But, fortunately, that is not God’s will. He is so loving and merciful, he made a way for you to be forgiven. The Son of God came down as a man, Jesus Christ, and lived a perfect, sinless life, so was the perfect sacrifice. He excruciatingly suffered and died on the cross to pay the FULL debt we owe because of sin; justice is fully done. You and I broke God's law and Jesus paid the fine in his life's blood, being resurrected again 3 days later. That’s why he said “It is finished” on the cross - in other words the debt has been paid. God has the payment ready to go for you. What you need to do is repent (recognising you are a sinner deserving God's punishment, turn to Him) and trust ALONE in Jesus for the forgiveness of your sins. Our works can do nothing as by the standard of God’s moral law we fail, but faith in him is enough to save us from all sin - past, present and future! Then though you have grievously offended God, he will forgive you and you will inherit eternal life being reborn in the Holy Spirit when you put your trust in the saviour. Too, you enter a covenant relationship with God - sonship, and truly I tell you your life will change in his presence. So repent and trust (i.e. Biblical faith), receive the free gift of grace and enter into the rest of Hebrews 4.
Rest in the person of Jesus Christ

Hebrews 47-9means there remains a keeping of the 7th day sabbath as God kept the 7th day, now commonly called Saturday.

No😮 clearly this is talking about God's 7th day Sabbath rest like in the provocation (unbelief)and it is the same today, you will not enter in because you do not believe and love God😮there remains therefore a rest to the people of God 😮v11 let us labour (6day) to enter into that rest (7th day Sabbath)lest anyman fall after the same example of unbelief😊 love and belief in our God 😊self explanatory😇
