    Awww I’m sad. Your voice was easy to follow and I really liked hearing your reviews and content. Totally understand the planning stuff I quit also and have started a learning journal. Every time I hear something interesting I do some research and write it down. I’m sure no one will read it but I get to use my fountain pens and different color inks.

      Dont worry! Those kind of things will still be coming. Reviews and journaling content will still be around but mostly wont be bullet journal content. Also, I love the idea of a learning journal. I have a research notebook where i sort of do the same thing!

      I felt this in my spirit. I have been so lax in my planner in general this year and I'm resigned to no longer FORCE the creative part of it. I'll still do a little bit here but I'm going back to my roots - planning and journaling as self-care. A life skill. An outlet. You are going to free a lot of people with this new approach and I'm excited about it.

    It's been almost 3 years since i last picked up and spent time bullet journaling. Lately i find myself using notion for random journaling... not organized at all but it helps me release my thoughts and worries! Thank you for all your hardwork and content on bullet journaling! Because of where I am on journaling overall I am excited to see other journaling content from you that are different from bullet journaling. even if you end up swaying away from journaling overall in some videos or forever I love your creativeness, who you are, and your voice is easy to listen and follow to!
    As a girl I still found this so helpful even though you started this off to help guys too. Thanks!!

    As a viewer. What I like from planner creators is seeing *how they plan*. I like seeing how someone's mind works. How they approach life. The medium is less important than how someone engages with that medium, I guess. So I look forward to your next phase. We all change! What we're using today may not work for us tomorrow.
    Regardless of what you do, I think men's journalling channels are hugely important, however you journal.

    I'm only relatively new to your channel but I enjoy what you've put out there, including this video. I'm not a bullet journaller, I find many things about the system too stressful and I've always been a pre-printed planner type. I do creative stuff sometimes and sometimes it's just getting down what I want to remember and no time or spoons for aesthetics. Good on you for identifying and running with what you simply didn't want to put your energy into anymore, nothing wrong with changing direction even after so many years. I hope you find your journal joy again and in the meantime thank-you for sharing glimpses of that spectacular looking campground. Be well Bryant and I'm certainly eager to see where your channel goes next!

    Brian, as someone who grew up before the days of the internet, Ive seen how content creators and social media users burn out mentally and personally through the quest for ‘likes and comments’ It consumes their lives. I imagine making content is a similar situation I’ve come across with playing the Irish whistle (tin whistle) where you strive and push yourself to get to a certain level, by which time the enjoyment of what you’re doing is destroyed by the never ending quest for perfection.
    Certainly change everything around, and importantly make time for yourself. Because believe me, you’ll maybe now think to the future and see your future as being so far in the distance you can’t ever see yourself getting there….but one day you wake and you’re 40, the 50, then 60 etc and you look back at a life full of stress and hassle that needn’t have been.
    You obviously like the TNs, and why not use them for yourself, not for ’content’ Make yourself a diary, monthly planner where you can sit and relax without a camera running and just draw lines to create the planner. Have an insert to jot down the laughs and great sharing stuff between you, your friend your girlfriend on this trip away…not to be shared with others. Basically wind down.
    I do enjoy your videos, but I would enjoy them if you just say talking about why not the bullet journal….like now. 😀
    Change things around, make time for yourself, enjoy using your TN, and take care x

      I was unfortunately caught up in the quest for likes and comments. and Im not even that big of a creator. I cant imagine the people who live off of their content and the stress they must be going through on a almost daily basis. Youre completely right though. Time is passing and it's not slowing down for anyone. And i want to look back on the work that I do and produce and be proud of where I spent my time and what I created. Doing it for me more than anything now. Im making changes. slowly but surely. Thank you so much for watching my videos! :)

    I've been following you for a while and though I've enjoyed your previous content, I'm really excited to see what you do next.
    I started bullet journalling almost 3 years ago, but it only took 3 months of struggling with the artistic/creative side of it to realise that wasn't for me (even though I'm actually an artist as well - I just couldn't make something that was both artistic AND productive at the same time). So I went super-minimalist and back to the bare-bones Ryder Carroll method... until around August of this year when I realised that I was getting tired of the system itself. So now I'm even more bare-bones - just tracking tasks and habits in a passport-size TN and doing other forms of journalling in other notebooks. I'm a huge fan of the modularity and customisability of the TN system.

    I was never a "bullet" journaler to be honest. the thought of doing my own set ups for everything just seemed daunting and time consuming. I did the very basic iconography for listing my "to dos" on a daily/weekly basis, but that was it. Honestly, I think bullet journaling as a system would be much easier in a ring bound system so you can keep the collections you do year after year and just scan the info you need and shred the stuff you don't at the end of the year.
    I actually found you when you started making fountain pen content so I'll still be here to see what you're up to :D

    • @ThatJournalingGuy
      @ThatJournalingGuy  2 месяца назад +1

      Woo! Thank you for sticking around haha. and i agree. it DID become time consuming to be honest. and life was happening and I simpy just didnt have the time to dedicate to my bullet journal anymore. Premade planners like the hobonichi have been a life AND time saver for me. and a ring bound system is actually a great idea for a bullet journal now that you mention it. Would make migrating things SOO much easier.

    A lot of the community feels more and more performative, totally agree. And it's bugging me as well. That "everything is content" voice over comes to mind. I also feel less and less motivated to share my journaling spreads. Even if they're in this aesthetic niche they still dont do well, everything seems to go to the big accounts. And those are all becoming monetized influencer accounts. I post only on ig atm and 2 years ago it felt more like people were there to connect, now it's more ppl sorta screaming: look at me! I haven't been traditional bullet journaling for a long time. I'm just doing my thing and try to not let the numbers bring me down. Long story short: i get it.

    This very year I have decided to quiet bullet journaling myself, and I'm moving into a Hobonichi Cousin as I NEED a planning system for my ASD and to give me reminders with how forgetful I am with doing stuff or taking care of myself. I've started my bujo journey in April 2021, I love being creative as an artist and my themes weren't the pretty flowers and pastals, no I drew anime characters for 2 years, then swapped to random themes from puzzle pieces, red panda's, Pokemon ect in vibrant popping colors cause I had to make do with what my poor ass could afford (Crayola my beloved).
    My reasons for quitting is not that the system isn't working for me, I love my planning system, trackers and statistics... what got me was the hours spend looking for inspiration regarding my monthly theme, the TIME set-up for the next month would take me the whole week (August 2024 took me 2 weeks with how DETAILED my Pokemon theme was, still love it to bits but fuck) and I want to do more digital art, I want to spend more time elsewhere. In the recent few months of Sep/Oct, I have noticed a pattern of me throwing tantrums at myself and REFUSING to set-up the next month, I just was like ''NO, don't wanna'' and it gave me a lot of stress (the creative process did make me happy but it costed me too much time). PLUS some themes online just... were boring, I'm sorry but there are too many flower themes and any game/anime themes were (no offense to anyone) just not good looking or unique that piqued my interest. It was either too detailed or too minimal, I prefer an in-between balance cause if it's all white space... it's boring and just sad to look at for me personally.
    I hope the Hobonichi Cousin with it's pre-printed layouts but still offering flexibility... will give me more time to do other things. I don't want to think of the next monthly theme and do thorough prep and rough designing, ESPECIALLY when I'm not creatively inspired. I need a functional but still semi-colored planner to get shit done, give me reminders to do things that I will easily forget and give me the freedom to doodle and draw when I see fit!

    @t0dd000 23 часа назад

    "need to constantly innovate"
    Yeah. I get that. Bullet Journaling done as intended is really a one hour how to and demonstration. And that's if you stretch the content. Bullet Journaling's big innovation, to borrow your term, is how easy it is. Each month spread takes five minutes to put together. My daily entry can be anywhere from one minute (once at night and once in the morning) to five minutes if throw down some traditional journaling thoughts and expression. Weekly spreads shouldn't take more than five minutes if you do them (I don't).
    That's it. Bullet Journaling is simple and effective. And that's why I have successfully bullet journaled for … many years now. If it is time consuming, you are going well beyond the point of the method.
    I can't imagine trying to make content about the process week after week.

  • @JBerry-ec7ck
    @JBerry-ec7ck Месяц назад

    Tried it for like 2 weeks, bought a bullet jorunal and everything for it. Problem is it's too organized and seems to be made more for people doing business or trying to make a 'sketchbook' rather than a journal, or for mood trackers and habit trackers. I thought a journal was more of writing down your thoughts, your day, your experiences and feelings, now it's turned into some art canvas and for people to just be 'productive'. Plus the more I used it, I wanted to write down my thoughts or my day , I felt doing that would mess up the neat spread so I woudldn't write as much when I want to fill the page. Just gonna get a regular lined journal and write it that way. Even diaries are more better than this. Journaling is losing it's name.
