    A good shield should indeed be recognizable in two colours. Thank you for your work!

      Thanks... That was part of the reason for the change.

    It's always a treat to see a padlock 🔐 that actually has all six chambers populated. I like your logo can't really see anything I'd change.

    • @lockpickinglawyer
      @lockpickinglawyer  7 лет назад +5

      Agreed. I don't think that PL offers the core with less than 6 pins... as opposed to making it an upgrade (as many other companies do).

      We do "dumb" down our cylinders to 5-pin for those customers stuck on ALC key systems and don't want to do a wholesale changeover. Keying into American is no problem... just have to ask us to make it a 5-pin core. Can't recall anyone asking us for a 4-pin cylinder!

    Paclock is cool as fuck for sending you a custom engraved lock to pick in one of your videos. Great company who make a quality product, my new favorite lock company! Good on you Paclock!

    Wow, Paclock are loving you. LOL Nice that they will move to using a circlip. Being able to change the springs and drivers should be useful for a locksmith also.

    • @lockpickinglawyer
      @lockpickinglawyer  7 лет назад

      I'm definitely feeling the love. As for swapping springs and drivers... I see what you mean. However, it seems more likely to me that if the lock is old enough or beat enough to need new springs, the locksmith will sell you a new $20 lock rather than spending the $20 in time to refurbish it. Makes more sense IMO. Even so, its nice to have the option.

    keep the black and white design and put it on a shirt. I'd buy the crap out of it. But if you end up wanting a full color variant, by all means go for it. Love it dude.

    This lock looks really very nice in black :) and the guys at Paclock did a fantastic job with the engraving or printing your logo :D.
    Maybe the end of the spools is a little bit rounded, so that they drop a little easier down if you try to set another pin (well, not for you ;D).

    • @lockpickinglawyer
      @lockpickinglawyer  7 лет назад +4

      Thanks... not sure why the spools are rounded, though I couldn't really feel a difference in picking.

    • @redcatimaging
      @redcatimaging 7 лет назад +2

      Rounded pins just remembered me of some challenge lock pins from Boris. They were polished and smaller and liked to drop down ;). Maybe not on this lock and not with your experience, but it's anyway a very nice lock :).

    Pretty awesome logo LPL. I also have the same 100A from Pacific Lock with my logo on it. I'm not sure if you've seen it. I've talked to Greg about putting clips on the cores back in November. I was hopping that when I got my 100A it would have clip. I ended up filing the back of the kik and putting my own clip on it. I think if you try and crimp it again it's just gonna break. It seems very brittle.

    • @lockpickinglawyer
      @lockpickinglawyer  7 лет назад

      Thanks. I've recrimped them before... I've not had any issues. But I agree that a clip is preferable from the prospective of a locksporter.

    • @pacificlockcompany3200
      @pacificlockcompany3200 7 лет назад +3

      Yup, change is in place/production. Clip on the back and security pins on the #6, 7, & 8 key pin sizes. Needless to say we're not doing a junk & replace situation here with our current inventory... and the parts that we had in production. Our first "improved" cylinders are slated to be ready next month and we'll definitely post something with you guys to let you know!

    That's awesome they are going to get rid of that crimped core. That's the biggest complaint I've heard about them from the other pickers. I wonder how long until they add the clips? I wouldn't mind getting a custom one designed for my gym locker made when they get on that.

    • @lockpickinglawyer

      PacLock seems to stop by every now and then, so maybe they can give you a time table if they see this.

    Nice pick, and a nice lock as well...
    I waas one of the ones who spoke up on either WCP video or Booby Keys video on the packocks they got from Greg. About the crimped ends and how just like yous said I understand the decision to crimp as a cost saver. But the locksporters would likely choose the clips. But he said that I was mistaken and they don't cut corners or cost in any way. lol
    Oh, well ok then...lol

    • @lockpickinglawyer
      @lockpickinglawyer  7 лет назад

      Thanks... I have no insight into the crimped cores... like you I prefer the clips because it makes things easier for us, but I'd imagine that not to many people outside the LS community care.

    • @Steel-Pinnings
      @Steel-Pinnings 7 лет назад

      LockPickingLawyer yep yep, spot on.
      But never the less... A beautiful lock you got there... And I am split on the logo... I like them both. But change is always welcome. lol
      Happy Pickin! ! !

    It's hard not to notice the numbers stamped on the bow of the key, I didn't look closely enough to determine if it was in fact six digits but if it is I would venture a guess they match the pinning configuration and thus compromise the security of the lock unless you have the good sense to get it copied or deface the engraving as to made it impossible to decipher.

    Do they make anything to fit a Master body?

    • @pacificlockcompany3200
      @pacificlockcompany3200 7 лет назад +2

      Yes, you'd have the ability to use our rekeyable cylinder with a Master body and vice versa (put a Master cylinder into a PACLOCK body). The reason you can interchange PACLOCK and Master lock is because the back side half moon shape on the cylinders are the same, whereas the American Lock cylinders have the have moon shape oriented perpendicularly. This is why you can bypass an American lock but not a PACLOCK or Master Lock.

    Beautiful pins. What is significance of stars on the logo? If they do not have some symbolism behind them, they look like an afterthought -- and busy it up too much.

    Reduced down small, those picks maybe look a little too much like syringes. If that gives you a giggle then yay, otherwire you might want to bang on rearranging a bit. Otherwise looks pretty cool.

    • @uzaiyaro

      This is about a year late, I know. I'm brand new to locksport. Look at LPL, Bill's, and others' reviews of PacLock hardware. The president, and possibly other reps of the company not only read the comments, but they listen, and they action. They designed a brand new shutter "block lock" a little under a year ago now, and they sent LPL and Bosnianbill prototypes to review and ask both them, and the public, what they thought. Both LPL and BB tested the locks destructively - LPL burning his, and BB cutting through the thin point with a hacksaw. Bill expressed concern because it only took him 30 seconds to cut through the aluminium body, so what did Paclock do? TWELVE DAYS later, they sent him a new one. They fixed that attack by driving in a hardened steel insert, and they also listened to recommendations that they move the core and shackle so it was no longer off-centre. The story here is that Paclock already had a large order for a customer, so they spun up a new design for them. When LPL, BB, and the commenters on these videos, gave their feedback, they redesigned the parts of the lock that were discussed.
      Years and years ago they had some MasterLock-style locks, and they were honestly crap. Bill gave them the 'JUNK!' label, and what did Paclock do? They effectively apologized and said that they had dropped those line of locks completely. Because of the poor quality, they moved their manufacturing to the US.
      You will often find that people are giving Paclock tips on how to improve their locks, security wise, but Paclock has said that they are going after a certain market. They are not making an EVVA MCS, they are not going after Assa Abloy's euro weirdness. They have said, quite matter-of-factly, we are targeting the MasterLock segment of the market. We are designing and building our locks down to a price so that more people can afford decent security. They are unapologetic about this. They are specifically making cheap locks that are good enough to get the job done, without compromising quality and security like MasterLock et al. love to do. They care about security - but they also want their products to be affordable.
      For all the commenters who say add drill pins to the core (tbh that would be a good idea, but again - it costs money), do this, do that, add freaky weirdness to the lock, that's all well and good for high security locks with an unlimited budget. PacLock is almost like the Chrysler of locks - Chrysler in the Lee Iacocca days. Streamline production, design the products to be cheap to manufacture, and keep the quality as good as you can for the minimum outlay. An example of this is the block lock again. They deliberately designed this lock to use the puck mechanism, because this made the design a lot cheaper, a lot simpler to build, and it has very few, almost no moving mechanical components, other than the core itself. It is not a lock designed cheaply. It is a lock designed *to be* cheap.
      You probably get the idea by now. I do not work for PacLock, I do not yet own one of their products (I'm in Australia, which is simply not really their market), and they haven't given me a dime or a gram of padlock to say this. I'm a massive fan of this company because they are one of the few companies that actually listen to what their customers are saying, they embrace the locksport community to the point where they literally do have a finger on the pulse of locksport. They send their prototypes to these guys and *thank* them for destructively testing them, pointing out flaws, and offering up suggestions and improvements. If there is a problem - they damn well fix it. They know that security by obscurity does not work in the age of the internet, and they know that if there is a security vulnerability with their locks, you as a customer need to know about it, because if that defect leads to loss of property, life, or limb, someone is going to pay for it. They genuinely do care about what you have to say, and they take it on board.
      Brilliant company ethics. It is exactly how I would run a company. Nothing to hide, no marketing bullshit, we have a target market, which is budget security, we specifically make our products to fit. We design them to be cheap, we don't make them cheaply. We want to hear what you think, and aren't afraid to hear what you actually think. If there is a problem, tell us, we will fix it, and we will disclose what happened, why, and what we have done to make sure that doesn't happen again.
      It's an attitude that is so incredibly lost in a world that only cares about the bottom line. This company loves what they do, by the looks, and they do it *very* well. Look at the reviews of that block lock. Look at how well its made, chock full of security driver pins. *That lock retails for $40* - if you can find a better bang for buck padlock anywhere, I think PacLock will tell you to buy it.
      LPL's review: ruclips.net/video/u3q-iFUnQwA/видео.html
      Bill's review: ruclips.net/video/28qFe-v3HVg/видео.html
      Bill's review of version 2 - incorporating his suggestions: ruclips.net/video/OfBNpY_jYTg/видео.html
      I'll shut up now. Sorry! It's just so goddamn refreshing to see a company with this attitude, who engages with the public, and openly supports the locksport community, and actually takes suggestions on board. How cool is it that someone can suggest an improvement for a product, and within a matter of a few weeks, your suggestions are built into that product going forward.

    Nice picking LPLAWYER! I really like your logo and if I had to change it then I recommend something similar yet with an abstract element to it. I just think that the logo your using now is too much like a legal system representation and I would make it more abstract and I know that you are a lawyer in real life but I don't think that the abstract element would hurt you.
