Also, I talk to you about a news article that was published recently about how graduation might be compulsory to become a pilot in India!

The union civil aviation ministry is exploring the possibility of making graduate degree a minimum qualification for a candidate seeking to become a commercial pilot in India, CNBC-TV18 has learnt.
Currently, a candidate aspiring to become a commercial pilot in India needs to pass Class 10+2 with physics and mathematics from a recognized board or university or pass its equivalent examination to fulfill minimum educational qualification.
"We are exploring this possibility of a graduate degree being minimum educational requirement for a candidate aspiring to become a pilot in India," a senior government official said.
"Pilots do not remain pilots for the rest of their professional career. If they want to switch their career after let’s say 20 years of flying, then a graduate degree may come in handy and help them in roles across leadership and executive profiles," the official added.
The idea to increase minimum qualification for pilot licence is at a nascent stage and currently, officials are exploring the possibility and no official decision has been taken, CNBC-TV18 has learnt.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has on an average issued over 16,000 commercial pilot licences per year during 2015-2019. The number of CPL issued has steadily risen to 17,839 in 2019 from 15,334 in 2015.

A candidate aiming to become a pilot first enrolls herself or himself at a flying training school after meeting minimum educational and medical qualification. This is followed by basic flying training at a government or private flying school in India or abroad which takes around 2-2.5 years and after successful completion of the training, the candidate attains a DGCA-issued licence .
Following this, the candidate appears for induction processes at different airlines and once the candidate is selected, he or she completes Type-rating depending on the aircraft the pilot is expected to fly.
The entire process from admission to a flying training school to coming on board a flight as its first officer may take at least 5 years under the current ecosystem.

U r right. Pilots don't use Differential/Integral calculus, trigonometric equations while flying. Even different types of engineers don't use such things unless they are into hardcore R&D. So graduation is total waste for pilot. However, if someone wants to be test-pilot &/or somehow involved into making a new plane after few years of flying then Aeronautical engineering will help a lot.

you don't need a college degree. You can do your flying in US after class 12 and than after 7 months of getting CPL and passing the FAA exams. Than you can sit for Indian DGA exams. during that 7 months, just get a A350 simulator. Full mock up like the real thing and get familiarize. Once you pass the exam. It will be easy to become first officer in A340 or you can train directly for Boeing 787 After building your hours!! 787 can be earned faster in Spain after US..

Congratulations on your engagement, you must be very busy right now and I shouldn't be asking for this but when are you planning for an qna? Was having lots of questions like 1. Have airlines started hiring?
2. Have aviation got back up?
3. Are the flight cost per hour gone down in the flying clubs due to the outbreak?
4. By what ratio would you describe the job of a pilot as comparing to memory and application?
5.Should we aspiring pilots think of getting a degree before CPL as per current scenario, if yes which degree would be helping, some aviation related degree like BSC aviation? Or Aeronautical engineering?
( If possible could you also shed some light on what have you secured as a backup plan.)
6. You always have been suggesting to complete CPL, if time permits prep for ATP and only then for backup options, do you still suggest the same?
7. I was also thinking for air force ( short service commission).... Do you think the time and experience there would benefit in flying commercially afterwards by any sense?
8. In your description you have said that a journey from induction into flight school to entering cockpit as a first officer may take upto 5 years, I wanted to know what has led to the increase in time span or was it always like this?

How can I become a pilot?
Is anyone tell me all about it..like which exam is required for become a pilot..etc..
-First you must pass the 12th class with math and physics.
-English proficiency.
-You must be medically fit so that you can pass an aviation medical examination (Class 2 medical).
-After the medical examination you must pass the DGCA exams.
After you have passed the DGCA exams you need a Class 1 medical examination so that you can go to a flight school where you will get a commercial pilot license with a multi engine rating and an instrument rating. After you have received the commercial pilot license you can apply for the available vacancies.

My question is that can an indian citizen apply for flying school in other countries like canada after his/her 12th class.
You can choose where you want to get your pilot training, and you can get your training also in another country.

@@sukhman7439 When you have decided where you want to go I recommend that you first check the website of the flight school. On their website there is also contact information like their email address and phone number.
For example, you can send an email and ask about the procedure how you apply and what you must do.
And you also need to apply for a student visa/permit so that you are allowed to receive training in this particular country.
For example, if you decide to go to Canada you must apply for a Study Permit if the duration of the training is more than 6 months, and you also need to apply for a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV). It normally takes more than 6 months to complete the training for a commercial pilot licence.

A commercial pilot needs to maintain good health throughout their career.
Indeed, every pilot wants to work till their retirement age, but many aren't able to because of health deterioration.
Hence, if a pilot ends up being deemed as "unfit to fly", then there would be no opportunities left for them to pursue.
I think that's the reason the flying ministry is considering including graduation as a minimum criterion to train for a commercial pilot license since that would allow them to pursue some other field they graduated in as a backup.
if u get medically unfit at the age 40...and suppose you are graduated...and u lost ur job as pilot...who the f will give u a job with a graduation 20 years back ?
