I had a 98 Mark VIII LSC Collectors edition just like this one. On the drivers side door there is a sticker that gives its build number, I believe mine was #612. Also under the backseat was a blue box that had all the silver ingots of previous Marks. In front of the glove box up against the firewall there is a build sheet. The only problem I had with mine, and it was pretty common was the blend door failure, and I replaced the air bags and pump, the alternative was to use Mercury Cougar struts and delete the air ride completely. I replaced mine three times. Initially I had to just about remove the interior of the car to get to it by the third time it was pretty easy to handle. On the doors there is wood grain that had some gold paint that read Collectors Edition, on the driver door this tended to rub off over the years. I had the pearlescent model. Awesome video! This brought back quite a few good memories.
I have this exact car #1145 Collectors Edition ,they came in Cordovan Metallic Red and Tri coat pearlescrnt white metallic an additional $365 option ,they were $45,000 in 98 (around $82,000 today) they were ahead of their time with neon taillight and HID headlights, super nice drive and comfort ,wicked fast when stomped on,I drive mine maybe 1500 miles a year ,it turns heads wherever I go everything still works 25 years later including air ride last of the rear drive muscle cars, probably the best of all the Lincoln Mark series IMO ,becoming rare hardly ever see them on road or their roached out and beat up , I'll be keeping this one forever .
When did a Mak VIII get to that value ?
Anthony I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again .. you have to be the most honest and completely transparent salesman ever .. beautiful car and awesome walk around and description.. you and papa bear have a great weekend
Hello Ronnie hope you also have great weekend. Papa 🐻 & Anthony
Least you're honest enough to point out all the things that are wrong with the car I appreciate that Hey did you get your package
Anthony - did you put a paint meter on each body panel to measure deepness of paint.
That should give you an idea of how much paint has been applied to each panel.
It’s a shame that the body shop did such a shoddy paint job but maybe that’s all the owner wanted and paid for. Buyer be ware!
Otherwise a nice looking Lincoln.
Beautiful car with 23K miles love your channel of course we don't see too many late 90s cars anymore
Anthony you're a salesman at heart, but also very transparent about your cars. I appreciate the honesty
I really like how the beveled line runs through the headlights!!
Vanguard Motors has somehow gotten their hands on a couple time capsule black on black Mark VIIIs with low miles. Unfortunately, they asked more than what these cars cost new 25 years ago. Id LOVE to get one like that though,.
The bigger question is, what was a car with less than 25,000 original miles painted in the first place? If the interior is near mint, then it wasn't neglected and left outside to the elements. These cars were NOT known for having issues with their exterior paint so it leads me to believe that something happened to this car that goes beyond what the carfax is telling you. People don't pay thousands of dollars for repaints for zero reasons. If I bought this car, I would use it as a daily driver and not worry about collector status anymore due to this issue.
Maybe it was vandalized
Hey whatever it may be, this Lincoln could be a daily driver all day long!
Probably sun damage to the clear coat. The rear window seals that 'bacon strips' are indicative of excess sun on them.
Love that Mark. I wish I was in the position to make an offer.
Very smart to take offers Anthony!! It's difficult to place a value on this car
Love these Lincolns ! Even with the bad paint repair and blemishes I still love this underrated classic. Love to give her a 4 ever home !
I have a 97 almost the same with 66000 miles on it love the car gave $ 5000 for 2 years ago at that time had 52000 miles on it.
This car is absolutely beautiful! I just realized that my '99 Saleen XP8 uses the same wood accented steering wheel as the Mark VIII.
The Drivers seat looks like it came out of a 123k mile vehicle - ouch
Agree. Something not right
If it did, Anthony would be the first one to divulge it. The Gozzos are 100% honest when it comes to his business. Honesty brings success!
@@8corymix8 REmember, lots of people who owned these things new, were well off, and probably overweight.
It's a beautiful car but I bet the dash cluster may have been changed because there is no way a seat is going to beat down like that in 23k miles. My 2003 Lincoln Town Car has 100,520 miles and it has no cracking or wear but does have slight creases.
@@mikesamra9126 I will ashamedly admit that when I weighed 350, I almost destroyed a new Expedition seat within 40K miles. So it's not impossible that someone even fatter than I, could do that to a nice seat. These aren't Recaro made buckets; just cheap Ford seats with a fancy Lincoln emblem on them. My 1986 Porsche has Recaro made OEM seats; Still in great condition. That's 35 years ago, they were made, with only minor wear on the drivers seat where I rub on it with my butt, getting in and out. American manufacturer made seats? Made to fall apart when the warranty period is exceeded. Planned obsolescence.
Got your work cut out here Anthony. Beautiful car...even with the imperfections. I've owned 2 Mark VIII's, a 95 base and a 97 LSC (almost identical to this 98, except the Collector's edition). Had to unload the 95 due to a move and after 3 1/2 years of enjoying the 97, decided to donate it back in 2016. Just wasn't driving it enough, mine had 83k on it, and everything worked.
Don't have room for this one in my fleet right now. Could be just a sensor for the ABS light. Love that it still has the factory air ride! Both my Mark's had it.
Don’t ever change your ways, showing, telling, and be honest to all your customers is such a breath of fresh air , don’t know when it will be , but my next car will be bought at SPECIALTY MOTORS. ……..God Bless
Thanks! Nobody likes surprises, so I’d rather tell it like it is!
I had three of them and one Mark VII. I loved these cars.
I had a brand new '96, watching Ur video just brought back sum gr8 memories. I drove it up/down the east coast, effortlessly. Very good passing power, moonroof, I didn't get the disc player in the trunk. AWESOME car & video guy. Njoy
I can see the difference in the color of white through the video on the driver side door & front fender on both sides so the whole front end looks like it's been repainted. That's a shame they didn't bring it to a higher end car restoration shop and have it done properly.
I love how Anthony points out every little imperfection, but Mingya!! But you know what, with this engine and low mileage, this beautiful car will outlive ALL OF US!!!!! From 10 plus feet away, this is a real eye catcher! Especially in Pearl white!
Still looks like a nice car from 5 feet away. Just seems like it a has a Maaco tape and spray paint job. Could use some TLC but with the low miles should be a dependable car for a long time if someone wanted to just enjoy it and take it out on nice days and to cars and coffee or a local Ford car show.
Speaks very highly of you to be upfront about the paint issues- that is why you are so well respected! Definitely a nice rocket for someone to enjoy! A big Hello to you Anthony and Pappa Bear from Canada Eh!!
Hello up there in Canada. Nice to hear from you. Papa 🐻 & Anthony
Thanks for your support CadillacGuy!
Man, I had a 95 base with 185k miles on it. I miss it, but it wasn't as nice as this one and it had some quirky weird issues. it just didn't work for me. I do miss it sometimes, but I don't regret selling it over my Town Car.
Love these Lincolns - gorgeous car with such potential. Another win Anthony!
worked for ford then. the mark VIII was the high water mark for performance /ride/beauty .
I thought there were a lot of mismatched areas on the car on the first walkaround. This was confirmed in the video.
I could see the mismatched paint right off. It wouldn't bother me. I am sure it is sold anyway. 🙂
Nice car, but it’s too bad about the Maaco splash job. Unfortunately, that devalues it greatly. Still a good car for the entry level collector.
That’s who I’m looking for!
Nice piece Anthony!
The interior of this car is nearly identical to my long gone '96 Thunderbird. That cockpit like dashboard layout was amazing. Everything was in reach and easily legible.
Hey Anthony & Papa Bear, this Collectors Edition Mark shows well. Way back when I had a Mark Vlll that handled great & was very quick,. This will be a nice daily driver for someone!!! Thanks for sharing this fun video!!! 👍👍🙂
Hello Christopher this one also handles and drives nice. Very smooth running car, I'm sure it will be a great driver for someone to enjoy for a long time. Papa 🐻 & Anthony
50 shades of white
Thks Anthony, great looking Lincoln! To bad the exterior paint is not up to par, but an excellent driver.
Absolutely Gorgeous, I can't say it enough... If my pockets were deep I'd have half your inventory in my collection... For the right dollars I'd repaint ... Professionally
His Lincolns Rule!
Anthony thank you for sharing the Lincoln Mark VIII . I liked the Mark VIII. It is a shame about this one, but it would still be a great one to own. Your honesty is appreciated.
I just want to point out the luxury that Lincoln was doing with this car. The power-forward seats w/memory setting is something that Benz and Lexus was only doing at the time, IIRC. The FOUR stage heated seats(some cars still only offer two-stage). The softness of the leather. Even the interior design nearly made you forget its Thunderbird roots. Plus we all loved the Xenon headlamps and neon tail lamps back in the day. They were true showstoppers. Obviously the buyer knows they will be confronted with dealing with Lincoln's much maligned air suspension system, but for the overall quality of this car(paint notwithstanding), someone will get a great car. Anthony, I so appreciate your integrity and ethical business practices!👍🏾
The big mistake, was the early model's low beam headlights. Absolutely useless. The 97-98 were better, with the HID low beams.
I was waiting to see this one...As always, I appreciate your totally transparent honest review. I'd love it as a daily driver, but am reluctant to make an offer which might be interpreted as 'low ball'
I don’t think it will insult Anthony. If no one else wants it, I may be tempted!
OMG!! Even with the not so good paint job, that car is still REAL nice!!! I love it!!
Nice video, lots of detailed disclosure. I have a 97 LSC, they are really special. Best of luck for the sale, all around.
Interesting car, trying to figure out what really happend to this car, to need a paint job on a car with 25,000 miles. I like that it is a L.S.C. & COLLECTORS EDITION # 60. I LOVE THE CONSOLE SHIFTER AND THE MARBLE IN THE STEERING WHEEL.
Despite the paint issues and the ABS light, she is a Beauty and Anthony thanks as always for your transparency and honesty... this is why I cant wait to buy a car from you one day. !!! Sa Hello to Papa. :)
Hi John hope all is good with you? It is a nice car I m sure it will sell. Papa 🐻 & Anthony
Love that dashboard, especially with the analog gauges!
I just miss the voltage and oil pressure gauges; hate idiot lights.
Beautiful car!! I owned a 98 lsc also. Smooth ride powerful engine. And that rear light bar was ahead of the game way back then!
Anyone serious about this car would want to take off the plastic cover over the core support, and pull out the trunk liner insulation. Close inspection in those areas would tell you if there was in fact a collision front or rear. Also, put it on a lift and look at all the rails closely.
ABS/traction control light probably isn't a big deal. The code scanner should tell you, but it's most likely just a wheel speed sensor.
I had a 97 LSC and I had the same problem with the steering column. Its super common. It's a bad potentiometer in the column and even back in 2008 when I tried to repair mine there were no potentiometers left on planet Earth. Why on Earth Ford would discontinue a part that would render the steering column immobile is beyond me.
Thank you! Good information to know
I've saved mine, by disabling the automatic seat / steering wheel adjustment that moves them every single time you get in and out of the car. Same with the seat motor adjustment. It will wear out quickly if left to it's own devices. The controls are on the drivers door and information display, to disable it.
@@d.e.b.b5788 I'm sure that absolutely helps a lot. I had to keep mine on though because I needed the steering wheel to move up when I turned the car off so I can get my leg out. 😆
Great honest description. Shame on the low quality paint work but still a nice car. And I think the flaking paint on the grille fins is some what common. Its the only body flaw on my pearl white 98. Owning 2 Mark VIII myself I can say they are a great car, and way ahead of there time.
Had a blue 98 LSC years ago. Wouldn't mind getting another LSC! What a beauty. White was always my first choice but I ended up with the blue one
Hey! I wanted a blue one, and ended up with a light one!
@@d.e.b.b5788 don't get me wrong, I love blue. But, I've had so many blue cars that it's making me dizzy. FYI, you can see my car in my channel showing off the exhaust if you'd like.
The 70's tv series "Cannon" had 2 different model year of the Lincoln Mark cars but I liked the design of the Mark car in the 80's.
Some of these pearl white paint colors are a tri-coat paint, which is difficult to blend with existing paint which may be faded from age. Very expensive to repaint as well. Maybe they cut a few corners for cost reasons, or an insurance company only allowed a certain amount to be paid for repairs/repainting. Good lesson to be learned regarding buying an auction car over the phone. Kudos for your honesty Anthony!!
Thanks you!
I currently have an ivory pearlescent '98. Autobody shop estimates it easily over $10K for a quality paint job, if I want to get the little dings and scratches fixed. Holy crap. Yes, tri-coat paint job.
I had a ninety eight, Mk. 8 , lost it driving through one ft. of water, sucked in 4.6 L of water. What I don't like is the 90s style front end, too sloped down , I like the way they have brought the front end up on today's cars.
Rear wheel drive. Now there you go guys!!!!
FWD=“nose puller”=Moe and Curly
Gorgeous car Anthony. It has it all. Great review as always my friend.
I love it I had a 95, with all the bells and whistles
Very nice. I’ve got a ‘93 Mark VIII with 161k. It’s nowhere near as nice as this one though. I had to buy it quickly after I totaled my ‘11 Crown Vic LX. It’s still got ice cold A/C and good heat, but the quarters are rotting out. Chicago winters all it’s life. I converted it to coil springs after I couldn’t find new front replacement springs for a normal price. I put new rear bags on, and a new compressor, then the front bags started leaking, and the vent solenoid on the compressor rusted and it wouldn’t vent down anymore. Still drives ok with the springs. They sure do drive nice though and the 4.6L DOHC has a lot of pep.
Anthony always whit great videos great machines 😉😉👍👍👌👍😉😎😍❤❤❤❤🙏🙏❤❤❤
I have a 97 and it’s one of my favorite cars.
The tech and luxury and quality for a 1998 is amazing. This is where the Lincoln brand fell off in later years. Imagine if the Town Car had been invested in and kept advancing in tech and quality of materials through its later years. Ford really screwed up the brand when it let the bean counters have a larger role in vehicle development.
That is a beautiful car i bought a new 1996 Lsc that thing was so fast me and my pops ran it up to 130 and was still accelerating we were yelling and i got scared and slowed down. The rear airbags went out within the first year. It was stolen from the Lincoln dealership and stripped
In 1993, Lincoln took one to Bonneville, disabled the software speed limiter, and ran one up to 181MPH with the mirrors and rear brake pads removed. Engine was an off the shelf one. Took the production speed record for that time.
What a cool car! do you know what would need to be done to repair the ABS light and traction control light?
Had a '94 and loved it.
Good work is not cheap, cheap work is not good.
Yes!! You get what you pay for at its finest.
Any chance this is still for sale?
"Com'n man". Great car. B/C of the paint issues, I would daily drive this. What a great car. BTW, you can take that to a Ford dealer and have them plug into the central computer system, NOT the OBD and they can tell you what the real mileage is, how many times the cars been started, etc etc. That front seat bothered me but I think it's real 23k. Sure wish Ford woulda put a 5.8L (351W) in this and any CVPI. They coulda easier done that and had a 2V no maintenance 325 horse V8. Cool car Anthony.
I’m certain the miles are real. Judging by the paint issues I assume it just lived a little tougher of a life with the seat wear.
Fleet mileage was a concern, hence the 4.6. Same with the air suspension which lowered the car just over 2cm over 60mph; it was to increase mileage just a bit. Remember, that 4.6, STOCK, got it to 181mph at bonneville, so speed wasn't a problem.
Beautiful
Uh Oh better get MAACO
Very honest review I really appreciate honest attention to the problem
I love ❤️ Lincoln so!!!!!!!!!!!!! Much!!!!!!!
I owned 4 marks. 1994 leased new. 1993 owner with 27k miles for 11 grand back in 1998. Then another 1994 with 65k miles for cheap like 4500. Then a 1995 with 81k miles for 5200. These cars are awesome! But I am a purest and kept all of them on the original air ride. To me that makes the car float and hunker down at speed. I invested 3500 to replace the air ride on my 1995. Don't regret spending the money to restore the air ride. Anyone looking at these mark 8 models should keep in mind the air ride cost.
Beautiful car loved riding in it as a kid... My grandma had a black one but it was side swiped and destroyed 😢
Nice ride, I was curious if the back window moldings were funky, yupp. That would be a deal breaker for this model. The grille never should have been painted and it's off a shade. This Lincoln needs new headlights, chrome grille and a good burgundy paint job. Glad you mentioned the over 60 & drops level (little known fact.) Hope you find a buyer.
@@8corymix8 Classy/elegant combo with tan interior & it has to be taken apart & repainted properly. Why not?
The back window moldings are due to sun light and heat. there's a place online which carries a nice repair kit for that. Those headlights can be repaired; OEM ones are about $500 each, IF you can find them. THey show up on ebay every once in a while.
Wrong. The grilles were ALWAYS painted on LSC models.
@@mikek5298 LSC/ Mark VIII, same diff, that wasn't painted, and if specific LSC so, why off a shade or two, peeling in between bars?
Beautiful car
I would imagine the condition and mileage of the car according to Kelly Blue Book would determine the price.
I don’t consider Kelly blue book on any older car. While the book keeps going down with age, the cars are going up in value in the real market. Kelly and NADA are great tools for late model cars.
My Dad had 93 Mark VIII the 7,6,5,and 4😀
Kinda cool that you sold a MK VIII to Hoovie :) I like these, but prefer the cordovan - or whatever they called the red exclusive to the collectors edition. I like the interior refresh they did mid-cycle but they dumped the in dash CD for 98 and not everyone got the changer so you have to make sure it's there if like me (!) you still actually like cds. That rear window gasket would bother me more the paint work shown since it would be a driver at this stage - paint can be done later when it really starts to come up (if indeed it does). Better to get the mechanicals right. Like the JBL system - had one of those as well as the later Alpine (LS), JBL better. So swoopy, so cool, but even though it does sort of shrink around you on the road, the absolute size comes into play on back roads. Really appreciate the honesty - class act.
Thanks Joe!
Sold!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No way in hell this vehicle will last an hour.
is this car still available?
I had one black on black fully loaded loved that car I wish ford would bring it back
If you do not get the right price let me know. I'm really interested.
I had one, loved it - until the air ride system went out!
Easy fix!
The air suspension isn't complicated; there are two aftermarket replacement places that service the system in these cars, and they're not expensive. OR... just convert to coils, less than $500 to do so all around. The problem with the air suspension, is that ALL the components are getting old, and after you fix one, another will fail. So unless you want to be constantly repairing things, it's best to just replace everything at once. That goes for a lot of things on older classics!
@@d.e.b.b5788 it’s like anything else you own. With periodic maintenance, whatever you own can last a lifetime, including your vehicle!
I'd take it as is. Out of my price range I expect.
Keep shopping. The previous original owners are dying off about now. I picked up a nice 1998 back in 2014 for $2800. They usually have been garaged, too. warning, though, you may have to travel to get one. And be careful of the ones that lived in flood zones and snow belt, as they can have hidden rust problems. If you have about $40k, there's a NOS one in Wayne NJ lincoln dealer in the window. Burgandy red, no miles.
I knew someone who had a Mark VII and the grill wasn't the same color as the body. The grill was chromed around it and the grill was black. It made it stand out and look sharp. This grill looks blah when painted white like the body.
I think that’s part of the LSC package. Tail light trim is also body colored vs. chrome
@@specialtymotorcars It was an observation that only 1/2 of the grill had paint missing, also since the car was repainted that they could have painted the grill as well and did a lousy job like at some of the other spots that were repainted .
I wonder there any 0001 collector edition mark viii?
23K miles?!?! Where do you find these awesome rides? This one is basically brand new still 👏💯
He does find a lot of them. I found a 96 Buick Roadmaster collectors edition with 22,641miles (1 owner) with the rare tow package (no hitch, just goodies) on eBay of all places.
Lots of these were executive cars; most lived their early life in garages. You have to watch the obituaries, as many widows are hesitant to part with their dead husband's cars for quite a while.
Still for sale?
A great vedio. When the time come, I will buy a Lincoln Mark VIII or Town Car from you ☺.
I’ll trade my P71 for that car. I love this Lincoln 😍
My customer is looking for a straight sale on the car
Nothing but the best !!!
There’s a lot of wear on that front drivers seat for a presumably 23 thousand mile car. Something doesn’t add up here. This looks like a cash auto body job done on the “quick”. Wouldn’t touch this, thanks.
That car taken care of with 23 k miles would have a much better drivers seat. Beautiful from a distance, I slid mine with 70,000 looked like new silver blue with pale gray leather, stunning car. A policeman at the gas pumps was admiring it and told me it would outrun his police cruiser.....quiet smooth car, only issue was air-ride system......
My thoughts exactly when I saw the creases on the driver’s seat. Also, the passenger seat cushion appears soiled or color transfer from blue jeans?
I know it’s a long shot, but is the mark viii still available??
Do you ship /deliver cars to Florida?
Is the mark viii still available??
It appears they just masked off the trim instead of taking the trim off. I can see where they tried to blend the new paint with the old paint. A damn shame that corners were cut on a car with only 23k miles. I offer 5k for it.
Anyone have any idea what this will go for about? 10k? More?
The repaint will bring it down from $35k to somewhere between 8 and 20K. The mileage will keep it low, I suppose. Just from watching the ebay and autotrader listed items.
@@charlesyoung9980 I own one. It's comparable in performance to a Porsche 928, which was my previous coupe. As they get rarer the price will go up. Right now, many that have been used just for regular transportation are rotting away. Foreign exotics of this type cost a fortune to have them worked on; this one, any Ford dealership or local mechanic will do it, and parts are readily available (thank you Henry Ford). Only time will tell; collector items are worth what people will pay for them.
Lots of overspray
Ford records indicate 1386 Collectors Series Editions were produced. Lower serial # of a Collector Series Edition adds a couple of dollars to the value. #60 out of #1386 is considered on the lower end of these Collector Series Editions. Beautiful car!! Don't get much better!
why do lower numbered models of the series bring more money? Later numbered series have always been worth more money in my experience.
@@klwthe3rd Yea I'd say unless you have 0001, which is probably in a museum somewhere, the number doesn't matter that much.
I have a 4.6 V8 in my Lincoln. PLENTY of punch!
how can i buy it
The intech I had,the speedometer was calibrated to do 225 mph! Not 140 mph ! It was a true 5.0 that was super chipped!
