  • Since the start of my Niche Fragrance journey, I have been afraid of Oud's 'awesomeness'....and robust scent, hence I've always steered away from it. Not anymore!
    OUD ORANGE INTENSE by Fragrance Du Bois @fragrancedubois is a brilliant place to start for anyone interested in taking their first step towards 'Oud'....like me.
    (PROMO CLOSED WITH OLIGARCH)
    I'm in love with perfume and beautiful smells. I deeply love niche perfumes and find that they are unique and incredibly diverse. I am Marcelo and I'm the Niche Fragrance Collector.

    Oud Orange Intense is one of the absolute best oud fragrances available. The opening is beautiful but the heart and base notes are simply magical. Too good.

      Yes to everything that you listed! What a discovery for me! I had no idea that an Oud fragrance could be this soft, delicate and even with a sweet note to it; I absolutely love it! Thanks for sharing and your support @Hashim Madani

    I just bought my first Fragrance Du Bois scent: Sahraa Oud. It is my new favorite scent. I bought Material by Amouage, another great new scent, but Sahraa Oud is my go to, stunning. .

    I am really enjoying your reviews and I especially like your style of presentation. I am a child of the '60s and '70s (yes that old!) and I think your intro music rocks. You also remind me of the David Niven and Cary Grant genre of smoothness. Keep up the good work. I am anxious to try FDB fragrances!

      Man, to be be compared to David Niven or Cary Grant, forget about it! What an honor!! Thank you @wilcherglobal for your encouragement and support, very much appreciated. And yes, I’ve found that FDB have multiple winners in their collection. They do Oud really well, so you’re going to be spoilt for choice.
      Thanks again your support @wilcherglobal👊🏽

      If you're interested I did this line up; with a different kind of set up. I reviewed 8 fragrance's in total, with a mixture of male and female leaning scents:

    I had to laugh about the experience with your wife that you shared. My husband snubs even the most crowd pleasing, beautiful fragrances. I don’t get it! The Initio, PDM, BDK bangers, even…he gags. We fragrance lovers will have to find our support in each other. Hugs

      You know, it's a journey for our partners. For us "perfume lovers" we can jump around and smell a million things and appreciate it all, but our poor partners are playing 'catch up'😂....the other thing that I found with both my wife and my father (who incidentally my step mother loves perfume), isn't so much that they don't like the smell of the perfume but the price tag🤔
      I know that this is true of both my wife and father. That if they say "mmm, that smells nice", then the personality of both my step mother and me is that we'll say "cool, I'm buying it!!!" So they're just trying to rein us in😂
      But how can you rein in the inevitable??? You can't 😇
      Great to hear from you Claudia; nice to know that the "fragrance lovers" are all uniting 👊🏼

    I don't know too much about true oud either (there's some really niche oud genre out there I have no expertise in) but I'm a huge fan of xrjoff oud stars line. For me, the oud stars is what makes xerjoff, XERJOFF.
    I got to try fragrance du bois.

    Okey I’m sold. I’ve been to my local perfume shop and tried it on me for many test days but never pulled the trigger even though I know it smells so unique and crazy good. The best thing with this fragrance is that it’s so versatile, you can wear it all year. But it reminds me just a little bit of MFK Grand Soir!!! But yeah, I will pull the trigger next time I’m sure.

    • @TheNicheFragranceCollector

      Do it! Awesome perfume and yes, very versatile. Funny, I'm not getting the MFK vibe to it, but I also know that fragrance is very subjective as we all pick up different notes in fragrance.
      Love it @mmss! Thanks again for your comments and support

    I’m so glad to hear you say that you don’t smell oranges 🍊😂 I do honestly think there are no oranges in here - though many reviewers say they can smell it. Their intense oud collection is named after colors (blue, orange, jaune, rouge, noir, etc). So the name is playing tricks on peoples noses 😂

    • @TheNicheFragranceCollector
      @TheNicheFragranceCollector  2 года назад

      I like your description. I actually think they are named after the colors like you mentioned.
      I definitely cannot smell any orange in this particular fragrance. For me this is a wonderful chocolatey Oud scent.

I need to explore more the PDM range....I look forward to checking out Galloway (thanks for the recommendation)👊🏽

    does it have any easily noticeable flowery notes ?
    jasmine , rose etc

    • @TheNicheFragranceCollector
      @TheNicheFragranceCollector  3 года назад

      Hey there @Proud Bombayite, not to my nose. I don't get any flowery notes. Also on the official break down of notes from Fragrance Du Bois, they don't list any flowers.
      I find that perfume is so subjective, sometimes I pick up a note in a perfume but discover that it's not listed in the perfume (like in this case, I'm picking up a very chocolatey note).
      When you smell it do you get a flower note?

    • @BlokeBritish
      @BlokeBritish 3 года назад

      @@TheNicheFragranceCollector thanks. no , i asked coz i dont like those distinct flower vibes wich some scents give off. i mean i dont mind if some flowers r blended out of view but if u can clearly sense them especially in the drydown,
      it turns me off, no matter how good the smell is.
      somehow ive come to associate flower with femininity, so such scents r a big No for me.
      having said that there r exceptions too and the only flower i can stand a bit is Rose.
      Tauer incense rose is among my top favourites.
      i tried Kemi Jabir the other day. wat a fantastic masculine scent i thought.
      but sadly it had this white flowers note in the dry down wich i just cd nt bear

    I sampled about 12 of their fragrances and decided on Oud Bleu Intense for the summer - so original and just knocked it out of the park.. But for more serious occasions and the winter? I had it narrowed down to a few, including Milano, NY Intense, Oud Vert. But Milano, while being an incredibly unique leather fragrance, has a cloying sweet green melon accord that lingered all day long and bordered on feminine,. Oud Vert is serious and classy like Roja Oligarch, but it doesn't take me anywhere special...it was kind of safe and, well...a bit uneventful, if not well blended and classy. NY Intense was nice but reminded me of so many other fragrances I have that it just didn't seem that original - sweet spicy woody blah blah blah. Enter Oud Orange Intense - I had written it off because I have Nishane Ani and expected them to smell very similar - boy was I shocked! It has a smokiness and mesmerising quality, without being overly sweet. I also smell very little vanilla - more chocolate, coconut and smoke, like you say. It is like the orange and Oud counterpart to Kilian's Black Phantom or Dark Lord. I will be comparing it more to the others but right now Oud Orange Intense is currently the front runner. I have 25 niche fragrances (mostly from Kilian, Parfum de Marly, and Nishane) and this just screams sexiness and originality.

      This is amazing feedback @David Antonelli, appreciate your break down of the various Fragrance Du Bois, as I'm personally keen to explore this House further (at this stage I have only properly smelt Sahraa and this one, Orange Intense....clearly I made the right choice!!)
      I would love your recommendation on Nishane. This too is a House I'm yet to explore. In your opinion where should I start?
