That 800 meter split alone would win a state championship for High School State Meet, and these guys are going another 2 laps at that pace - basically.
What blows my mind the most about these races is that the guys who win the most elite races look as though they're not even out of breath. I'm a decent runner, but I'd be gasping and clearly suffering for at least a minute after doing something like this.
mobus1603 I totally agree. I think it might be because of the fact that they are used to train in altitude. Makes it easier to compete near sea-level without being totally out of breath.
mobus1603 natural talent and drive to do well...training...training conditions...conditioning...for years and years before the Olympics...then they can do it like that
mobus1603 it’s really all aerobic development, when trained fully and properly most races from 1500 and up should not leave you so out of breath because of the aerobic groundwork laid beforehand
when you time the 100m or 200m where he really kicks in his 10k and 5k races its not suprising he has enough speed to do this. hes done 25 seconds for the last 200m before, even an 800m would be proud of that kind of finish
there is a huge difference between maintaining speed for 200 seconds and 30 minutes. completely different. his remark was fine and yours was misleading. in the top level you see only what? lagat and el guerrouj winning the double in the 1500 and 5k and niether of them ran a 10k on the same week. you either focus on the longer ones or the shorter ones but not both.he ran a 3:32 run which suited his stamina and speed at the time and against the level he's running, it's a good place to be at - 2nd
They are idiots. Their logic is that middle distance should be easy for Bekele since he's a long distance runner. It doesn't work that way. With that logic I guess Zersenay Tadese would be able to compete with Rudisha in an 800 meter race smh.
joeyyowee they went thru 800m at 1:51...if it was an 800m race they could easily go quicker cause they r so fast...I was surprised to see bekele not have enough left to win it at the end there
Yea totally. There were all those people in front of him when he set the 5000 and 10000 WR. Not to mention that Olympic Gold in 5000 at Beijing. There must have been at least zero people in front of him as he ran away from the field for 12:57 with a last mile in 3:57..
fast time, if we take into account that Bekele is short (small stride) and that this is his first official race over 1500m (like a trial) and that the winning times in London 2012 is 3:34 and in Rio 2016 is 3:50
Minute 1:25. the Journalist is wrong. Bekele is not an Allrounder between 1500 til 10000 meters. He had immense success beyond the ten thousand. He is second to Kipchoge in marathon. He is the most successful long distance runner.
I'm guessing English is not your first language...I had a hard time understanding any of that. I have been running competitively for over 14 years and have followed all levels of running (high school, college and pro) for over a decade. This was a good race for Bekele, sure, but not good enough to cause surprise. Keep in mind he is considered by most to be one of the top 3 distance runners of all time.
At 54 to 55 seconds per lap, they're fucking flying. But I agree, a lot of videos make professional running look like a jog almost - that is, until you learn to "read" running form at different speeds. You have to take into account how high their feet come up, and how quick their cadences are, both of which are insane in middle distance races. The average person, hell even average runners, would feel like they are literally sprinting at top speed just to keep this up for 100m, let alone do it 15 times.
The guy you just watched is four inches taller than you and could run a 50 sec 400 to finish off a 10,000 meter race. Height might be somewhat of a hinderance in running fast but if you’re relatively athletic and determined you can certainly push your limits.
why would you not be surprised that a cross country/10K guy can run second in a world class meet at 1500m. They are completely different races with hugely different training requirements. I imagine he is surprised in the same way that he would be if Rudisha placed second in a 5000m. I am guessing you may not know too much about track and field.
Bekele can run any distance. this is crazy fast for a 10 k specialist. now he runs marathons - superfast. he can do it all.
对
+axlrosea675 Bekele is only 5'5" or 5'6". It's amazing to see how long his stride is compared to the bigger guys.
He's 5.3
fat cat Taller people have longer strides
Then let him run 100 m or 200 m
Here is usain bolt there is jailan and other beats
Omgosh. Didn’t know Kenenisa did the 1500! Absolutely amazing!
It's crazy and unhuman how they're able to do a 1:51 800m and are still able to run 2 more laps with a kick.
That 800 meter split alone would win a state championship for High School State Meet, and these guys are going another 2 laps at that pace - basically.
nobody:
commentator: "Keni Bekele"
I'm surprised Bekele came in 2nd in a 1500m race. It just goes to show you how fast and versatile he is.
He and Eliud Kipchoge both have 1500m PRs of 3:32.
Daniel Kipchirchir Komen is such a smoothie. I always enjoyed watching him run.
Both of the first to could have run faster as the pace for the first lap was too fast 53.46! They were a little behind the pace thats still too quick
What blows my mind the most about these races is that the guys who win the most elite races look as though they're not even out of breath. I'm a decent runner, but I'd be gasping and clearly suffering for at least a minute after doing something like this.

esa carrera fue el 28 de septiembre de 2007. segun wikipedia.
when you time the 100m or 200m where he really kicks in his 10k and 5k races its not suprising he has enough speed to do this. hes done 25 seconds for the last 200m before, even an 800m would be proud of that kind of finish
Yep - but this isn't THE Daniel Komen .. it's the "other Daniel Komen" - not the 3000m world record holder.
Haile Gebreselasie clocked also a 3'32. It was indoor, behind Hicham el Guerrouj.
Crazy fast!
@TheInvincible1997 this is 1500m. Kenenisa never comes down to this type short race. This was a trial for him.

bekele is my favourite Always
en que fecha fue esa carrera?

His stride is huge for someone his size
Winning time in a tactical race gives 0 information
El ganador fue daniel komen el plusmarquista de 3.000m llanos?
You obviously didn't read what I wrote. I said that he was versatile because he came in 2nd in a mid distance race.
Minute 1:25. the Journalist is wrong. Bekele is not an Allrounder between 1500 til 10000 meters. He had immense success beyond the ten thousand. He is second to Kipchoge in marathon. He is the most successful long distance runner.
Bekele soy tu incha.hermano.
It must have been the day of his life to beat Bekele
Not really, I mean he's Daniel Komen, nobody else has run the 3000m and 2 miles as fast
Muhammad Putera This is not Daniel Komen. Komen's career was in the 1990s when he was a great rival of Haile Gebrselassie
My bad!
+Aaron tewelde it's another Daniel komen
@@muhammadputera6593 Just FYI....The winner of this race is a different Komen, NOT the 3000m and 2 mile world record holder.
Why did the pacer go out in 25 🤔
i got 73 but damn, these guys could complete the pacer 5 times over, 247 pacers is the cap, and they wouldn't be winded a bit.
what's the year

Would’ve been faster if they didn’t go out so fast
El guerrouj THE G.O.A.T
I am 5'0 ft tall... how can i make 400 m for 80 sec? Pls help me :(
The guy you just watched is four inches taller than you and could run a 50 sec 400 to finish off a 10,000 meter race. Height might be somewhat of a hinderance in running fast but if you’re relatively athletic and determined you can certainly push your limits.
@MyMeatYearns4Andrea
You're welcome :)

Save the pisto dome day i win a 5000 meters in olimpycs left your commebt if You too

im assuming rudisha would get his ass whooped by some top high schoolers in the 5k.
don't Kennesia, only Kenenisa lol
oh really? Look up Jeremy Wariner
Just look at Mo Farah this year.
Bekele could beat mo over 1500m in his prime even though mo has run 3 seconds quicker
@@conorkissane-wood7566 agreed. Monaco is way quicker than Shanghai AND this was end of season, Monaco is in the middle of the season.
they are thin, I would like to see those big FAT giant people running like that
FAT = means not running long enough to lose his fat. LOL.
john cena
You are surprised that the world record holder at 5k and 10k got 2nd in a 1500? You must not know that much about track and field
He was
Yea and that one XD
1.45
ダニエルコーメンか。
no
He came in second to Daniel Komen. Nothing at all to be ashamed of.
