- Thursday Sept. 8th at the Planes of Fame Air Museum was a busy day for aircraft departing for the Reno Air Races. See unlimited class air racing aircraft close up in High Definition like "La Patrona" Rod Lewis's F7F Tigercat and Robert Gibson's "September Fury" as they leave POF for Reno. Also see a Rare P-40C as it departs for Reno and it's new home in Texas.

Beautiful aircraft.
‘La Patrona” is gorgeous!
Dang! A P38, P40 and a P51 in the same flight! Those guys at POF have all the fun!
Somebody picked some kick-ass music to go with that footage. Excellent!
would have been better without the music in places, unable to hear engines starting but still was GREAT video, thanks to all of you involved
I am X air force and I absolutely love watching these older war aircraft running and flying. Excellent!
What a beautiful sleek look, So cool.
Thank you all for the hard work and love of aviation displayed here. I'm just an old retired instructor pilot that still has avgas for blood...
That F7f is one beautiful aircraft!
This video is a model of audio control as described below, beautiful planes... absolutely stunning... good job and thank you. this footage is actually very rare, with all the close ups of engines you just dont see anymore
The September fury sounded amazing!
I appreciate the way you dialed back the music to enable us to listen to the real music of radials and other moto sound. Thanks
Tempermental! LOVE the sound when she finally lights up!
These are some bad ass birds. My favorite though is the C model P-40. Not as fast but classy. You guys do amazing work with these aircraft. Thank you for an outstanding video of 3 super stars of the air.
The Tiger Cat is my favorite aircraft. I do prefer it in the dark blue paint job though.
Too cool. They're all beautiful aircraft but that P-38.
She's a peach!
Pretty cool job "oh I got to fly the P-38 back to base".
Yeah there's a reason I love these warbirds.
Damn beautiful!!!! Lucky pilots. Lucky owners!! Thanks
Beautifully shot video. The professional touch shows.
Very nicely done video. Really emphasized the mechanical beauty of these machines!
Growing up our house was inside the landing pattern of the airport. Connie’s all the Douglas makes and convair prop jobs would fly over the house.
Excellent video!! Love those ole f7f Tigercats!!
P 40 my new favorite though all are exceeding well done, Makes me want to build something as nice, anything, so off to fix up my old boat , guys at the marina wonder why I keep everything as nice as I can, and the bare polished aluminum wheels on my car also maintained to high finish LOL close as I'll get to shining up one of those babies. thanks for more inspiration to build quality. Long may your craft live on.
It just amazes me at how clean these aircraft are. Great to see these old birds are still ripping up the sky!
it so nice
My new favourite Av video!
Thanks, I was a mech in VR-21 Barbers Point NAS, Hawaii from 66-69. We had DC-6s (C118), seemed huge back then. funny
Great on the headphones.. Love it.
There ain't no sound in the world like twin-engine Wasp's coming down the runway. Makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up!!!!! Love it!
Unreal,thanks!
Absolutely stunning aircraft! Great video, thank you!!!
No, They are two different aircraft. The F-7F in the video belongs to Rod Lewis. The aircraft in our yard at Planes of Fame is an even rarer RF-7F, a recon version. Fighter Rebuilders at POF is currently assembling another F-7F which will be flying as soon as it it completed.
Thanks for that info,I feel privilaged to have laid hands on her under construction 👍👍👍
My favorites are the P-38 and P-51. Awesome aircraft!
well done very nice happy flying !!
Beautiful machines
Beautiful planes, very good crafted video, though I do prefer when there’s no music and only original audio.
Great video. Thanks.
Beautiful F7F Tigercat
Beautiful P-40
Excellent!
Awsome aircraft. Well produces video as well. You folks do good work.
Excellent.
The F-7 is one beautiful aircraft.
F7F is the proper name. Not F-7 and not F-7F.
Oh man! I would watch your videos non-stop if they were 3 hours long! Such class. I love your work!
There is nothing like taking off in a P51 Mustang!!!!!!!!!! Will always remember my stick time!
Yes please🤩thank god I found your channel 😎🇺🇸💪🏼
I appreciate that you turned off the music so we could hear the engines...
Very well made video.
Like!
Great editing!
Love the Curtiss P-40. Army Air Corps. Leather jackets. Officers dress pinks&greens.
Really cool video..
Yes.
The A-26 Invader was an attack aircraft made by Douglas Aircraft Co.
The F-7F Tigercat was a fighter aircraft made by Grumman Aircraft Co.
Both were powered by the PW-R2800 Double Wasp engine.
One of my favorite air museums by far. Its just a shame its in southern california
Just look how slim that Tigercat fuselage is!
Chrome plated gun ports.... bling on!
Or polished aluminum.
This is a Hawker Sea Fury. Looks a bit like a Yak until you see them side by side. The Yak is much smaller. These airplanes are fun to watch at Reno!
That P-40 just wants to shoot something!
You should go to the Chino air show. You can feel the power as they go by.
don't know why but Green always looked really good on airplanes......always watch September Fury at the reno Air races, always gives Rare Bear, Strega and the rest of them a good run for the money......
I "LOVE" WW2 war birds. They have a class all there own. Thank you for the video.
If you can please do a video with the P-36 Apache, P-51A through P-51H.
Again.
THANK YOU FOR THE VIDEO.
If only the army never used the Allison Engine in their aircraft and instead took the rolls royce, Marlin or the Griffin.
P-40 powered by a Griffin with 2x .50cal browning machine guns and 2x 20mm hispano cannons.
P-40B powered by late war marlin with 2 turbo chargers and 4x 20mm hispano cannon with 300 rounds per gun.
If only.....
Thanks. Some of us are poor enough, old enough and in poor enough health that we will never get to see some of this stuff. I maintained GCA precision RADAR at NAS Miramar, 70--74. "Once in awhile" there was an interesting bird through there, LOL
Someone commented that they thought it was a Yak. The tail design and the side exhaust exits on the fuselage are both very identifiable as a Hawker design. I just could not remember if it was a Tempest II or a Sea Fury.
Planes of Fame operates out of Chino Airport (CNO) in Chino, California.
I liked the nose art of "La Patrona".
would the f7f not have an advantage over the other aircraft with two engines?
Can't be any Bristol Centaurous engines left now?, for the "Sea Fury"
So is "La Patrona" the same Tigercat that has been in the POF back lot for the last 25+yrs? Or is it another plane? Love the non-blue paint scheme.
Is the F7F going to race with the drop tank attached.
I almost wish WWII didn't end as soon as it did. Tiger cat would of been awesome.
They have canadian version sea fury in Calgary Alberta Canada war museum
I am not sure what a tail scream Hawker refers to, this aircraft is a modified Hawker Sea Fury MK 11. She is currently owned by Rod Lewis and flown by former NASA Astronaut Robert "Hoot" Gibson.
Do you know what engine it has fitted? Doesn’t look or sound like a Bristol Centaurus.
Is the A-26 and the tigercat the same plane? Beautiful paint on the Fury
Hey!! no mention of the P38??
what music are you using? id love to know :) and awesome video!!
What's better than three Allison engines and a Merlin all running at the same time?
+A5mod3us DB 605 series :D
3 Merlins
Looking back, if Britain had not requested the P 51, would it have gone into service and if so, when?, also Seafires had poor undercarriage for Navy use, did the Seafury have a more efficient "bouncy" set of "Oleos" like the US type carrier aircraft.?
the P51 was no good until the up engined it with the merlin engine
At least two Sea Fury's have crashed due to undercarriage problems, in recent times.
What airport were you flying out of here?
Side exhaust and tail scream Hawker
didnt see these planes at all at Reno. we rolled into town 10min after the 51 crashed....:(
"September Fury" is a modified Hawker Sea Fury.
Red plane a seafury?
the music would be better if lower and not changing in level so much
but the "september fury" is a SeaFury (RAF)
Royal Navy
Nice 1 :) thx
Definitely a plus to hear the engines and not some no name techno music(or anything besides the engine sounds, for that matter).
i guess that is not originaly engines on planes
Lose the "music"
美國 陸軍航空隊的 P-40 P-51 P -38 .
the F7F is so un-proportional! The fuselage is too skinny!
La Patrona . Look like a Bad Ass . But the F 7 F looks better in U. S . NAVY COLORS
Is this what rich folks do on the weekends??
Would of been a good video, minus the ''music''.
