- Опубликовано: 18 мар 2022
- It's Day Two of Time Team's first brand new episode in a decade. New presenters Dr Gus Casely-Hayford and Natalie Haynes join team members old and new to investigate an Iron Age settlement in Cornwall with mysterious underground passages, known as a fogou.
Armed with new technology, and with help from Site Director James Gossip and the Meneage Archaeology Group, Time Team have just three days to shed light on this fascinating prehistoric site on the Lizard Peninsula. Can they do it?
Day One: • NEW EPISODE | TIME TEA...
Day Three (Sunday 20th March at 6pm GMT): • NEW EPISODE | TIME TEA...
** ABOUT TIME TEAM **
Time Team is a British archaeology series that originally broadcast on the UK's Channel 4 for 20 series, and countless specials. Over the years, the team excavated over 220 sites, from back gardens to Buckingham Palace. The show has now returned to RUclips, thanks to the incredible support of thousands of worldwide fans on Patreon.
Series 21 (Season 21) of Time Team follows two incredible new digs, each released in extended 3-part episodes exclusively on the Time Team Official RUclips channel. The first dig explores a mysterious Iron Age site in Cornwall; the second investigates a huge Roman villa on the estate of a Tudor castle in Oxfordshire.

Today's episode was brilliant - well done - much sparkier than yesterday's. Can I suggest you do a slow roll-out of short self-introductions for the team over the coming weeks/months - people are interested in the individuals involved & how they became involved in archaeology. Thank you 😊
Another fabulous episode of Time Team!!!! When it ended I was not ready and said out loud, Noooo..... I need more!!!! Then I laughed and said to myself, "The people who created the finished Time Team episode content are masters of suspense! ; ) Excelent job TT!!!!!!
That was so soothing.
Gus seems to be quickly settling into his role. He looked a little nervous in the first episode but is more relaxed in this one. I like his laid-back style because it focuses our attention on the archaeology rather than on the personality of the presenter.
AS a guy who just found time team in 2020 this is great we have you guys back its great to have another archology show
Excited to see part 1. The geophys is amazing. John Gaiter trying new toys and seeing amazing stuff reminds me of the first computer printout that was shown on episode 1 of the original. I love seeing the old team and new team together.
Aww I'm not alone in that! His lifetime love is so unquenchable its infectious, isn't it?
To be honest when I heard the opening music...I cried.
Thank you to any and everyone who made this possible ❤️
I did as well, I was hoping they wouldn't of changed it and sure enough, keeping to the original, they didn't and am SO Happy..
@@dloglesby57 I farted.
which just isn't the same.
I got a little misty, too. You’re not alone.
I feel similar! Theis should intrigue a researcher into the sociological psycho-social effects of TT's grounding, soothing & uplifting show. What causes us to feel so grateful & thrilled with TT? When I learned in the video titled Warrior, that a veteran found it effectively grounded and decreased his PTSD.
It fascinated me, as a survivor of generational PTSD -WW 1, 2, Canada's Great Depression & parental immigration in the 40's. When the Veteran then started a business to enable more vets to join in & find relief & joy in daily life I was blown away! It's a truth for more than vets but I bet for many in this world of highly traumatized peoples who ever went to war yet were impacted by life threatening situations where no safety or soothing comfort was available.
It's simply superb work on so many levels that matter to us humans who0 are spun into the greed, sociopathy, inhumanity & divisive acts of Government- such as 2022 Turdo in Canada & the many deadly inhumane totalitarian STATE's!
Research is vital when we frind a GEM like Time Team that shines head & shoulders above all comparable (none that I've seen) to date!
Me too!

glad to see matt's back, john has new equipment to save his back, and stewart is still off leash wandering around like he should be!
4 or 5 years ago I was metal detecting the coast in north wales and a dog walker came up to me and said the usual 'found anything yet?' , got talking and it turned out it was Matt Williams Dad, lovely guy. He told me a little up the way theres lots of oyster shells, I went in his direction and found some interesting objects, possibly roman.
Tea mugs looking like Mick’s sweaters! Natalie’s Moomin t-shirt. Matt Williams down a hole with his fathers shovel, Stuart wandering about in the fields, and John dragging new tech across the site. Dr. Gus’s calmly informative and encouragingly enthusiastic voice overs are all new/old things to recommend Time Team Series 21 so far!
I love the coffee mugs, too. So sweet.
Gus should read bedtime stories! also love the mugs :-D
This is such a perfect review if the series so far! The mugs are such a lovely touch, love the new presenter and of course The Mick Mobile! Plus - this one is in Victor's field which made me think of dear Victor Ambrus!
what you are saying will not make any the show any better and is just a bunch of tripe gossip irrelevant to history or even life.
@@wanttopreach What?
What I like most is the return to the slower pace. What I loved about the early seasons was being able to enjoy the pastoral countryside and the intelligent discussions. The new producer of the last seasons seemed to want to speed things up and fill every moment. That killed the magic of TT. Thank you for bringing back that more relaxed atmosphere. I have to get used to the new presenter as he matches the tone of the archeologists too closely. Tony, Mick and Phil had an amazing chemistry that will be very difficult to match. The magic wasn't all pot sherds and mosaics.
and I just joined Patreon!
Agreed, also I always loved listening to Phil's accent.
@@MWhaleK Ooooo! Ahhhhh!
Gods, I miss Phil's sweaty hat.
> I can't get used to the new presenter's voice, boring. > Too much 'Technical' stuff. Show us the amazing 'hands on' work...
and some chemistry of the people....that is not matching anything close to Mick/Phil or Tony. Too many new faces...to make a connection with them. Too many 20 second shots of boring information...jumping all over the place. No magical excitement.
Yeah, I think the new host is actually an archaeologist and Tony is an actor who gained knowledge from years of being around it. Tony was all about energy where as the new guy (sorry, cannot remember the name right off) has a more quiet, scholarly dynamic. But i love the continuity of bringing some of the old crew back :-)
Watching from Sweden here!! Go Time Team!!
Congratulations Time Teamers! I'm surprised at how *excited* I was when the intro started. This is the best thing on the internet. I'm watching and supporting from the US, where we envy your archaeology. Hoping to spend our next holiday volunteering on a UK dig!
you've got great Archeology in the US. The first nations were in the middle of a Dark Age when Europeans arrived, and had reverted to tribal life (as the Europeans did during their Dark Ages), but North America had large, complex and powerful civilisations just like Mezzo and South America did. But we've got the best outside of Africa here in Australia, some sites go back 40,000 years....just a little Aussie pride.
@@waynehieatt5962 have you read anything about the discovery and ultimate blocking of most examinations of Kennewick Man and the bones secret reburial? some tribes are still in the Dark ages with the bones of a man 11,000 years dead must not be studied because it would disturb him. No, not because the burials or dead of the tribes had been treated badly historically, but because the Chief could not see any reason for examination under tribal overbite, but because it would “disturb” the dead.
Wow! That would be awesome to go on an archeological dig!!
@Wayne Hieatt
We cannot do much with what we find, in terms of Native American archaeology. We must take into account the sensitivities of those who were invaded. Therefore, any artifacts and remains must be dealt with in the way the Natives suggest.
@@iamblackthorne I do understand to a certain degree the fierce wish to keep Native People’s burials respected and handled as other than carnival attractions. Such showmanship was never in the cards for Kennewick Man who was still never proved to be a direct ancestor of the tribe which raised the greatest objections. The bones were ancient before Otzi began his climb in the Alps! Even the little scientific examination opened up fascinating new travel possibilities with KM shown to have grown up eating ocean products rather than the inland foods. It is the blank wall of refusal of interest or even the concept that there could be interest that irritates! No suggestion that a Native Archeologist or Anthropologist lead the examination!
Oh my, Tim, thank you for keeping the music and the title imagery and the wonderful three day format. Love this. Yes, I teared up a little when the opening sequence began. I'm so proud to be a member since Dec 2020. Way to go new friends too. Perfect combination of old and new. Can't wait until tomorrow. Day 2.
Very much enjoyed the first episode, the main presenters were better than i expected, not quite the natural enthusiasm of Tony but still engaging and easy on the ear
I’m sure their ways will continue to evolve as they get to know the crew more =) I think they are great!
@@lacyoh8066 agreed, always hard to follow a very unique presenter but the guys have made a great start 👍
@@lacyoh8066 I hope so, and I think so. I mean, look at some of the very early season 1 time teams (on all 4): it took a while for them to find it.
so - what happened to tony - didnt he want to do it anymore???
@@mudpyz - Indeed, it was Tony's own choice not to return, but he wished the new Time Team the very best.
I like Natalie Haynes in this. She is informative and humorous in perfect doses.
When the theme tune started (and genius idea to use the original much loved one), I had tears in my eyes! So proud to be a small part of this…
Watching the original Time Team got me through Year 2 of COVID...so happy that it's back, with old friends and new...
Very good. Gus does sometimes drift into narrating like David Attenborough, but when he speaks (what I assume is) naturally, I like him. The whole team is fine.
More! More!
I am extremely happy!!! Also - I really hope that the stripes on the cushions and the mugs in the trailer (with Helen) are a tribute to Mick. So happy to have Time Team back!!! John and Stewart - they just make me happy.
They did call it "The Mickmobile," so I would assume so.
Oh I hadn't even noticed that, that's such a lovely touch
Yeah, even I got a little teary at the opening music too. Its been a long strange often-disconnected too many years. Welcome home, Time Team.
Susan Scott
I'm THRILLED that you're BACK! Now I can give the previous 20 years of episodes ("series") a rest 🙂 I've watched them over and over again, COUNTLESS times! Thanks SO MUCH!
Dr Gasely-Hayford reminds me of Mic Aston in how calm he presents. I do miss Phil Harding and Sr Tony, but think the current presenters both from the past and new members are doing a wonderful job!
I love all the ladies on camera - in fact, several men - JAMES - also add to the fun atmosphere we are used to with TT. SO interesting, AND exciting. 🤔 Well done, Time Team!
I'm so impressed with the landowner's efforts to preserve what he found until the archaeologists could get to work! Well done.
Gus's voice is so smooth and soothing! What a lovely choice to narrate the discoveries as they unfold.
Been watching time team for years family from sussex to see John gator carenza lewis, matt aged as it is to see the new time team brought me a tear keep it up guys;thanks from Scott Stevens of California
I feels like the presenters are holding back their enthusiasm. Nerves? Could be. Time Team is quite a thing. Nice to see so much of the team back. Thanks for bringing this back to us.
I wasn't sure about the change of presenters but Gus's slow paced commentary is a joy to listen to. Lovely to see the programme back again.
Only bad thing about this is I can't binge watch. Very excited about the renter of Time Team.
That's how I felt lol. I watched the original 20 seasons about 8 times once I found it. Life saver during quarantine!!
Huge thanks to all the patreons for making this possible!
I loved day 1 of the dig, very excited for this! The music and credits brought it all back and the new presenters were great. I was happy to see the friends of old and look forward to knowing more about the new additions to the team.
I think there's a special form of dopamine that my brain reserves just for new Time Team content, and it's just popped the cork on a fresh bottle that is all the better for a decade's aging. The pop of revelations, the fizz of experts exchanging knowledge, the smooth and familiar cadence of sipping as the site's flavor blooms... it's one hell of a thing.
Cheers to Time Team, and to everyone in the extended TT family (if you're reading this, that includes you) who made it happen!
Same here - grew up watching it and my brain is annoyed without it!
Oh you put this just right! Simply, poison of happiness!
I am feeling the same
I mean, if they were to find a nicer presenter for the series, then I don't think they could have done better than Dr Gus Casely-Hayford. What an absolute gent. Can't wait for more!
Love it! I love the rainbow stripe mugs and pillows as a Mick tribute too. So excited for day 3!
Two things I particularly liked were the chat between the two presenters providing some historical context near the beginning of the sho (I hope we see more of these), and the timeline that appears periodically and again helps with context. It's only been through watching 20+ seasons of the old TT that I've learned when the Bronze Age was vs. the Iron Age etc. but it's still helpful to have a reminder.
What I would like for the future: please put more information on Patreon and RUclips about the dates and times of the new programmes so that it's easier to find.
People who enjoy the show should consider sponsoring it through Patreon, if they can. More funding, more digs.
So good to see Carl again! Loving which of the earlier Team are on this dig. ❤️❤️❤️
One of my sons came in, in the middle of this, and wanted to tell me something. I said “Dude, this is a live premier; I can’t pause it.” He said “but that’s Time Team!” I said “Yes! They crowd funded a new series through Patreon.” He literally went 😳 and walked out of my room. Congratulations, @Time Team Official, you’ve rendered at 22 year old (ice) hockey goalie completely speechless! As much of an accomplishment as Season 21, IMO. 😂
I couldn't believe how much Carl looks exactly the same!
Our moderator from another mother
You can pause it. I think.
Really like the respectful mix of old and new. And I'm sure it will be even better as this team finds it's own "groove"
So excited to watch this, and it's better than I could have imagined. So many familiar faces, and the technology has improved so much! It feels like it's gone back to being the cerebral programme of old. The Mickmobile actually made me well up. I miss Tony and Phil, but otherwise this is amazing.
I miss Tony and Phil (and Mick as well).
I'm trying to get use to the new presenter. His voice is very soothing but I keep expecting Tony's vibrancy and humor so the soothing-ness seems opposite to me somehow.
It will take time, I guess to get used to Time Team without Tony and Phil.
Love the dog coming out the tent, the Bronze Age is highly significant in Cornwall as the whole whole of Europe got tin including the Minoan’s got tin from Cornwall
Reading the comments of widespread agreement on the effect Time Team has on so many people, everywhere!
It's soothing, amazingly interesting, magically therapeutic and finally BACK! We are home.
Thank you all, fellow patrons, Tim, the Time Team crew and worldwide TT fam.
We did it! 💕🍻💕

OOOOOhhhhh I am soooo ready to see some of the old youngins...LOL with the new youngings....LOVE YOU guys an gals. HAVE an AMAZING time!!!!! Wish I was on site to help an experience it with y'all. Watching from Windom, Kansas!!!! Coffee is on an cakes are made........See ya there!!!!!!!!
Not far from where I grew up - Penzance, making it very difficult to watch from Colorado! Time Team and Cornwall - talk about making me feel homesick!!!
I have to admit that I had no small amount of trepidation about the reboot. Phil, Mick, and Tony, and the original team... I didn't see how that could be matched. We humans don't care for change, esp of a group so beloved! Victor, Robin... I could go on.
I finally took a chance, and am SO glad I did. The new narrator is the opposite of Tony - which is exactly what was needed. I love the calm he brings as much as I loved the energy Tony brought. I am so glad to see so many who did return - Matt, Helen, JohnGator, Stewart, Carenza (I think I saw her in episode 2)...and I am looking forward to getting to 'know' the others. I always wanted to be an archeologist, but am old enough that "that isn't a woman's job" per my parents. Thank you for such an amazing show, for coming back to do more(those who did), for the originals that I'm still working my way through (American who found this show sometime during covids first year), and to the new people, for being brave enough to step into some incredibly large boots to fill! I'd love to see Raksha (please forgive my spelling if its wrong) back too, do we know is she well?
Really enjoyed Day One. Already impatient for Day Two.
I'm so happy! Brilliant to keep the music. And our beloved experts connect us to keep it real aswell. No stupiditiation but still easy to understand.
I am so glad this episode included experimental archaeology.
Aaaagh, OMG, so fantastic, I am tearful. Love, love, love. Best wishes to you all.
I like this format of 1 episode per day of digging. Cramming all 3 days into one episode means a lot of footage and detail gets left or edited out to be able to fit all 3 days into one episode. We get to spend more time onsite with the crew!
Lots of puzzle pieces to put together to make the picture clearer. Great to have Time Team back!! Mary
When they said 'Roman temple' I thought, 'Yeah right. We know Roman temples only come in threes on Time Team. 😁
Friars Wash was one of the best episodes! 😄
I am SO happy to see the return of Time team. Given that I am in my late 50’s now I didn’t exactly grow up with this as many of the original people are my age, but archeology has always been one of my passions. I am glad you are back..
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 When we first got the chance to help fund the return of Time Team, the point where the first new show awould "air" seemed so far away, but it actually happened surprisingly quickly, and watching the first two parts of Episode 01 has brought back all the joy and adventure of the original show! Hats off to Tim and the whole team, members original and new, and Patreons for bringing it together so brilliantly!!! 😁😁😁
Seeing some of the old team is a blast from the past
Matt's energy and personality is so refreshing!
At first I thought time team without Tony would not be great.I was wrong.this is great the spirit of time team lives on.
its shite
Yay! They’re doing the experimental work too! Happy, happy day.
A random dog wandering around the site on camera is absolutely peak Time Team.
I can't tell you how happy I am to watch this new episode of Time Team. I'm loving it.
Well done Tim and the Team (sounds like a band name), Day 1 was brilliant, can't wait for this one (8hrs from now, 4am for me). You've managed to retain the flavour of the original series, and love that you've kept the theme music.
Well, they did say they were getting the band back together.
Welcome back wonderful Time Team 👍💞💞💞💞
there is SO much going on at this site! its nice to have a huge team to work with, being able to open lots of trenches to really get at the goodies below the surface
I dearly miss some members of the original team and love seeing the rest of the original crew. But, this new series is as good as the original. Very well presented, new technology and the same passion for rediscovering the past. It keeps the spirit and fun of the original show. Great work by all involved. I look forward to many more episodes.
I'm delighted at how many of the original crew have come back, though. I think it helps mitigate the fact that Tony chose not to return, as it still very much feels like the same Time Team family.
It would be great to see the others from time to time. Phil may not be able to dig but, maybe he could visit some of the rare excavations and discoveries. Really miss Raksha (sp?), too!
Mick would be proud of this, I just know it!
After Day 2: While Gus is a very affable person, I feel like he’s putting us to bed with a bedtime story as he narrates while trying not to wake the baby in the crib next to us. I’d like to hear more vigor and energy in his delivery. Also, I thought Derek and Lawrence were going to play more central roles, or at least appear on camera. So far, they seem to mostly be extras hired to dig. Then there’s Carenza, the legend of Time Team, who has hardly appeared at all so far. She used to be one of the greatest and most successful archeologists of the original team - a brave maverick! Will we see her show her stuff ever again? Finally, this effort to have the team in New Zealand evaluate the dig virtually doesn’t seem to working. The dude seemed to be struggling to conceptualize the spacial relationships of the passageway from his computer. Maybe things will improve as they work things out.
Overall, the fogou is far more interesting than more roundhouses and Roman remains, so I felt like a great deal of focus was lost as we listened to John argue with the archeologists about the interpretations of the geophys of circles in the ground when they’re standing on top of the amazing prehistoric series of passageways and structures of a fogou that you’ve only scratched the surface of - literally!
This feedback I offer with the best of intention in the hopes that it will help in some way. It’s early days, of course, so fingers crossed!
In this crazy day and age the return of my all time favorite show is right on time!!
Where is the petition to get Time Team back on Television? What able a cable network? Absolutely loving these three episodes.
I'm so glad the show is back!
You even have the Colonies following your digs
Sitting in the Northern Midwest of the U.S. enjoying Time Team being back
Love the new graphics showing the timeline! Seeing the OG Time Team on the job is fantastic!
I love this incarnation of Time Team! I also surprised myself by shedding a tear when they said the "Mickmobile" and saw all the rainbows.
Good to have you back Time Team! It's been a long time.. absolutely loved it!
Loving the new technology. It truly brings the site to life for us at home. Just finished the first day’s video and had to call my husband at work to let him know that you’re back!😊
😎 Day 2...Brilliant! So many questions. Checking out my Patreon, then I'm watching this again!
Well, I've just finished all the originals. AGAIN .... so what a joy to have something new and fresh and just as interesting, with a few of our old friends.
Great to see Time Team back. Welcome back old friends.
Loved this !!!! I'm a long time fan of Time Team (I wear the t-shirt regularly). I've been waiting for this for a long time. Great to see some of the regulars! I'm in San Antonio, Texas. Remember the Alamo! Remember Time Team!!
A friend told me about this RUclips today, 3-19-22. I don’t have a tv or ANYTHING, just free RUclips. Thank you so much. I liked and subscribed. xx
Time Team is the best .
Another great episode today. Tomorow I'll watch the first two episodes again before watching the third one. One and half hours of pure joy. 🥇 👍
Great to see time team back! so looking forward to these new episodes.
The owner of this land is to be thanked for his wonderful commitment to archeological discovery.
I am loving this. Great to see old friends and meet new ones and love the new technology
I am so glad to see Time Team back on RUclips. Can't wait to have numerous videos on line, out in the open. I cannot wait to see more videos.
Absolutely lovely to be part of the live viewing and exchanging in the chat! I love the new presenters and the awesome mix of new and old. Looking forward to tomorrow! Thank you
Love this "episode per day" format.
Hearing the opening theme, knowing there's a new episode...best feeling in the world!!
I am thrilled and I am having a warm fuzzy feeling... seriously.. it is good to have you back.
I am very happy that Time Team is back ..... I've been watching you for over 20 years, please add Polish subtitles
I would love to see a new artist take over from Victor, to show us their interpretation of what they have learnt. Victor Ambrus was so talented - miss his depictions.
Victor!! Find a new Victor.
100% show some new artist!
I wouldn't mind a new Robin, too. Time Team went on far too long without a dedicated archivist. =^[.]^=
As a kid Time Team gave me the history bug! It was my favourite! Such good TV! I hope new generations will get as much as I did from it. I’m so pleased it’s back! I just love it!!! 🙏🙌🙏🙌🙏🙌🙏
Matt, Stewart, Helen, Bridget, and John! Oh so nice to see all of you.
This is really fun!
Love you guys!
(I keep expecting Phil to show up and be standing behind Matt, holding a pint, like a haunting.
...and I can tell Tony is missing, he kept a much quicker pace/rhythm going. He was always such an abundance of Energies!
(That's a need, to bring back everyone's energy up to that TT Frequency!)
But this is such a treat and I'm so happy to see everyone, all the viewers are.

I loved Tony and his high energy but, I am enjoying Dr. Gus's mellowness too
How is Matt just as adorable as he was 20 years ago?

Thank you so much, I have so missed you all, going to spread the word to all my Canadian friends whom have faithfully fallowed you from the very beginnings

Oh I have missed Time Team so much!!! This is fabulous, back to basics, so interesting.
I am just SO happy to have Time Team back with so many of the original cast that kept me glued to my set and taught me so much about the past.God bless them all and keep up the wonderful work you do.
The technology is amazing. Very interesting.
So so pleased that Time Team is back.
