Freddie Blassie was the Champion when I was growing up in Los Angeles. I sure loved him. So many fond memories watching the Wrestling shows at the Olympic Auditorium in LA and the old Muncipal Auditorium in Long Beach. Bob
I saw this live on KTLA, channel 5, LA. Unusual for a title change to take place on TV in LA in those days. After the match, an outraged Blassie appeared in the dressing room yelling, "I'm going to speak to my very good friend President John Kennedy about this!" The California State Athletic Commission supposedly fined Blassie $500 for ripping off referee Johnny "Red Shoes" Dugan's shirt. The (English language) play by play announcer is the legendary Dick Lane.
notice also the japanese commentary is being spoken over the tape. There is a definite difference in the audio levels. This was a japanese broadcast, but the match was from the olympic auditorium in LA.
Hey Timmy3000, You're probably quite well aware of this, but in addition to wrestling, Dick Lane was far better known as theTV play-by-play voice of the LA T-Birds of Roller Games, and prior to that the LA Braves of Roller Derby! Now if anybody could come up with footage of him calling Braves games, that would be so cool!
懐かしい。

Jimmy Lennon was the best wrestling and boxing announcer ever.
Rikidozan did a shoot on Blassie on several occasions. He would not put Blassie over on any of their matches.
