@maverick1685 same. And likely suit up very similarly to drive it. (can't drive in inclement weather. Hmph. That's what my leather pants and Aerostich are for.) Although, I'm just as likely to nick one of those engines, strip all the emissions gear off it, and stuff it in the arse end of something like a Berkut 540 and end up bombing along at over 300 per... *legally*... three and a half miles up, sucking oxygen. "Where we're going, we don't need roads!"
Top gear now has found its roots and it's a blast to watch again. The lads are doing an amazing job since the last 2 seasons and everyone genuinely needs to give top gear the second chance it deserves.
I've had the pleasure of meeting one of the TMI Autosport on-site track engineers and a sales manager at Virginia International Raceway. They were both super cool people who are VERY passionate about what they do.
One of the most honest cars ever made, it’s innards are visible for viewing and feedback. It’s a “focused” car that rewards you when used as intended and will punish you if choose to use it for functions it’s not truly designed for, like driving in increment weather. I can imagine hauling down some back country road at triple the posted limit being equal to doing something like “speed”, totally exhilarating. We’re lucky to live in a world where someone builds an insane machine like this and we can drive it on public roads, life is good!
jon doe dude you’re out of your mind. Harris has a real racing career under his belt and is probably a better driver than Clarkson, Hammond and May put together
Yes, Chris not only drives and reviews the cars but he is also entirely responsible for the edit, too. It's not like Top Gear has been edited by children for the past 18 years now, has it?
I wonder if my doctor can write me a prescription for one of these. "Hey Doc, i have been feeling a bit down with all this Covid madness, can you set me up?"
@jon doe How exactly would editing benefit the pedal movement that I am sure the commenters above are focusing on? Having see how Harris drifts HyperCars, enduros at N24 and races a classic manual mini, I'm pretty sure it's all skill the people above (as am I) are appreciating. Not editing.
@jon doe I respect that people don't have to like other people. But saying that he is an edited driver is baseless. Having seen him drive in real life at circuits like Goodwood and the genuine times he has produced in endurance races, he is a good driver. Nobody is saying you have to like him. I never said he was a good host. But you cannot back up your claims of him being a bad driver.
@jon doe I'm not sure what point you are attempting to make. You said he isn't skilled. I'm saying, someone who has what he has under his belt is skilled. You're right. He isn't a career race winner. But again. You can't back up the fact that he isn't skilled.
The only thing more amazing than the improvements to drivability is the price actually went down over the 3S. What kind of car gets CHEAPER these days?
I was wondering why this felt so groundbreaking in terms of cinematography and feel. Then I saw it was uploaded 7 minutes ago. Chris is my favorite presenter thus far
That center-point roll cage highest-point, it really, really doesn't look like it would protect either the driver's or passenger's heads in a roll-over. Considering that the only ones I've seen driven were with people that weren't wearing helmets, perhaps Ariel has a little more work to do.
I mean it is basically a race car you can legally drive to the race track and assuming you have not blown up the engine during your track day drive it right back home again after refuelling and changing your underpants I'd assume.
speced out how you would want, it is around 95k. For that money a gt500 is on the table, corvettes are close to that, and used gallardos are that price
Uh, given how quick it goes, even as a track toy, I'd rather have paddle shifters on that thing... This way you can concentrate more on steering the beast! And have an auto mode to drive to and back from the track too :p
That's what I love most about mine. Without a helmet 70 feels like 100+ and it's quite surreal picking up all the smells as you make your way along the road. It's totally immersive. My favourite drive last summer was through the Scottish Borders and Dumfriesshire in the dark. As well as the sound of the turbo next to your ear, I could feel the changes in temperature on my face as I went under trees and the dark is completely enveloping with only the cool digital dashboard glowing away and the full beams lighting up the road ahead. It gave new meaning to driving "through" the night. Yes the Atom 4 is one of the very fastest cars on the road objectively and subjectively I don't think any car could feel faster driven at the limit. Although, even if I had the ability/desire to drive a car with the power to weight ratio of a Bugatti but with zero driver's aids and no protection at the limit on the road, for me it's the feeling of immersion that makes it truly special and a uniquely visceral experience every single trip. Just wish the temperature would hurry up now and go up. The brain freeze you get at 60 when the ambient temp is below 6 degrees is bloody 'orrible :D
@@keevincharles9389 what benefit would that have over this Honda powerplant? Remember this is a bone stock Type R engine, plenty of room to turn up the wick if desired.

Engine weight, engine speed, powerband... you have to thrash any car with motorbike based engines to get what you're expecting from it. The original Atom had a turbo four from a honda, and it was pretty tight. The V8 atom was INSANE fast, but nigh uncontrollable, or even driveable. Going back to a turbo four from a honda, its tight as a nut again. V8 engines made from motorbike engines has already been done, but take it from Ariel and their atom having come full circle from car engine, to motorbike V8, back to car engine. :)

it's also a quarter of the price of a BAC mono, so that's not too bad.
Denis Kudlik And it’s manual 🔥
Богдан Кондратов what girlfriend
Starts at 40k GBP. The full extra price (AP racing barakes, carbon wheels, ECU reflash etc): 120k GBP...
@Богдан Кондратов but the mono is made to be quick, the "plastic toy" look just makes it more streamlined than the Atom
True but nowhere near the engineering of the bac. But still alot of performance for the money
