Chaining up a big dog isn’t how to treat a valued pet anyway. Chain link it within your property and give it an opportunity to exercise and run. If you can’t afford to, you have no business having 4 let alone allowing them have 10 offspring.
when my brother and I were kids a pack of wild dogs attracted us and our Irish setter fought them long enough for us to climb a tree and our screams brought my dad to us and then the neighbors organized a hunting party and those dogs were with us no longer and not a danger to the kids and livestock in our area anymore .
You can’t tell me no one’s ever reported the living conditions of these dogs or the strays in the area. Also why does the big island have so many lots that look like dumps and illegal builds? Is everyone too lazy to do their job?

Plus there’s aren’t really many illegal structures in Wai’anae…. get choke on big island and they’re all janky & ghetto, it’s all broke meth head haoles and hippies building illegal shacks… thousands upon thousands of them.
A dog attacked me when I was driving. The dog lunged at my face but his mouth hit the window and his chest hit the driver's door. Reported to the police and dangerous dog help line in Maui. The dog owner abandoned the dog and it is still alive. The dog has a fascination with wheels. He also attached a bicyclist.
we need animal control out here. I am so sorry for this man and his family. The uncontrolled dogs out here are very dangerous. I hope this incident will bring more awareness about the dangers vicious dogs propose to everyone living here. So Sad for your loss...
yes that dog dumping in terrible. My mother was in the area recently and the lady she stayed with had 2 dogs. 3 more were dumped on the property during her 2 week visit. The people she was with were elderly and have no way to control this now pack of large dogs (puppies at the time) but they don't wan to turn them into shelters because they'll probably be euthanized...and so this happens. its a no win situation, but its also a matter of time before more are attacked.

All the dogs in Hawaii Big Island while I was there working as a traveling nurse. They don’t have fences, they they chain them to a wooden box with the ability to only get on top of the box. Most of the dogs are fighting dogs! Not pets. Same as chickens! Chained to a box and not treated well. It’s a horrible thing to see.
Charge the owner to the fullest extent of the law. I hate dog owners who can't take control or neglect their dogs.
