Welcome back to the channel everybody! Today we’re continuing our Journey through the island and watching LOST Season Episode 14 “Special”. This episode Centers mostly around Michael and Walt, but also continues the search for Claire.
This episode's featured comment came from youtube.com/@pateramat . Thank you so much for your support and for your questions.
Speaking of comments, following the last episode, I received a huge amount of suggestions for other channels reacting to LOST. The one that seemed to get a mention from almost every single one of you was youtube.com/@robtrinreact2825 so I’ve been watching through their reactions and enjoying them quite a bit. Thank you all for the recommendations!

Yep, you've got Susan's measure. Love the scene with Charlie trying to resist a new kind of temptation, especially the part where he's twirling his hair.

We've seen Walt manifest things before, for instance, in an early episode when they first crash and Vincent is missing: it's raining very heavily and Michael says he'll go looking for Vincent as soon as the rain stops. A second later, the rain stops as if by a switch. That was Walt causing the rain to stop so Michael would immediately go looking for Vincent.

Ya I'm thinking that there's going to be a lot of things like that when I watch this again after watching the entire series.

I feel like the first time we saw one of the polar bears, there were shots earlier in the episode of Walt reading the comic...specifically the polar bear.

Haha...ya I kind of remember what I was thinking when I said it. In my head I was basically like "what's the wildest possible thing that could happen here and leave us with a big ending?" So I said "what if it's Claire". If I had waited like 2 seconds I would've been sooooo disappointed in myself for not saying it.

Kate hid from the Monster in a Banyan tree in the two part Premiere episode.
Keep making predictions, even if they turn out incorrect. All of us did it when we first watched "Lost". I remember hearing some pretty out there theories when the show first aired. And everyone was incorrect for most of their theories, even if they won't admit it.

Thanks...I kind of feel like my predictions are sort of like that old saying about "if you sat 1000 monkeys down at 1000 typewriters for eternity, eventually one of them would accidentally write Shakespere"....through sheer volume I'm bound to get a few right here and there.

I enjoy the extra editing you're doing throughout the video. As an editor myself, I realize that it takes more time and effort. I just want to say that while it's enjoyable for us, I hope you're enjoying doing it instead of it seeming like a hassle. Have fun!

    • @OldBeardedGuyReacts
      @OldBeardedGuyReacts  8 месяцев назад +2

Thanks I appreciate that. Ironically, I recorded the next episode this weekend and at the end I asked people to leave a comment about liked (or even noticed) the additional editing. I do enjoy it because I like learning new things and I like trying to make each video a little bit better than the ones before it. The less enjoyable part is that doing something that you're just learning takes a lot longer. But that will get easier and faster.

Don't worry. I missed out too when it aired. I discovered Lost in 2015. I have been obsessed since that day when I was bored and searched Netflix for something to watch. I chose to watch Lost, and I'm so grateful that I did. Lost has been a very special part of my life. I just can't get any friends or family members to watch it. They see "sci-fi," and they just don't want to even watch the pilot. Oh, well. They are missing out. Happy you decided to take this journey. I'm here for you and with you.

Gratz on the Claire reveal for the win! Appreciated hearing your backstory on how you ended up reacting to Lost. Wondering if you think you received any inadvertent "spoilers" from your wife or others who had previously watched it? For your sake, I hope not.😉 Looking forward to your continuing journey. Cheers!

Here's EVERYTHING that has ever been spoiled for me with this show (as far as I know).
      - My wife and sister discussed a monster in the jungle that they never actually showed.
      - Part of me picking LOST was googling/youtubing phrases like "The Best Shows Of All Time". I stopped that research when one of the videos showed clip of John dressed like he is on the island talking to someone on the phone...it felt spoiler-ish but honestly with no context I really have no idea what it means. For all I know it could be in the next episode or it could be in the last episode. For all I know, it's even possible that it's from a flashback scene.
      - Lastly, I was watching a video of someone reacting to Saw...and when the character Zep comes on screen, they were like "Oh that's so and so from Lost". I haven't seen him on screen yet, so at the moment I'm assuming he's with the group that Ethan is with. But as of right now I don't actually know.
As far as I know that's every single thing that I've been spoiled on.

Another example of the Walt/Animals relationship. When Walt concentrates on throwing his knife at a tree when he is with Locke and Boone, we clearly see Vincent change his attitude as if he senses something abnormal.
I don't think it's so obvious that Susan decides to pay Michael's hospital bills in exchange for giving up his rights. Unlike many Losties, I don't see a Machiavellian side to what she does. She’s evolving in her behavior, that’s all. When she was with Michael, she rejected the classic vision of a family. Then, they separated like many couples. She meets someone and becomes more mature by returning to the classic vision of a family: a married mother with the legal father of her child. She does things that I wouldn't have done but characters, much more appreciated than her, have done things that I wouldn’t have done too.

The thing with Vincent was something that I caught but hadn't fully connected. That makes sense.
To be fair, I don't think there's anything particularly devious about Susan's choices. Once she decided she was done with the relationship taking Walt with her makes more sense than leaving him with a dad who is only sporadically employed. I just think Michael got shafted even if her intentions were to do what was best for Walt.

So far, I think it's fair to say, whatever reason any of them were in Australia for, they didn't have good outcomes. Also, Walt told Locke, when they were sitting on the beach, and Locke asked him if he wanted to know a secret, he told Locke his mom died. So one might assume based on that, that's why Michael was going to get Walt. Seems reasonable. Also, you didn't miss out on LOST, you're watching it right now.

    Hey brother-
    Let me tell ya something
I was reading comments, of your Lost S1E13 reaction and one dude recommended RRR movie which I know for a long time.
But I haven't been able to watch it cause I have doubts , maybe it is overrated, I have to read subtitles.
But last night I tried to watch it thinking that I will only watch it for 10 to 15 mind until title card comes up.
    .....
*I ended up watching the freaking 3 hour movie.*
I was just waiting for it to like slow down.
*BGM of this movie was so outstanding.*
Trust me when I say this...
This movie is better than Avatar 2 in terms of story.
I watched Avatar 2 in two sittings.
So what I wanna say is don't procrastinate.
    Just watch it man...
It will be one of the best cinematic experience of your life.
*I regret for not watching it on big screen.*
    Thanks for reading buddy...
    Tell me what you think.

Top 3 characters so far? Also which character would be closest to you, ( personality not looks, or looks too if you want 😂 )in your opinion?

    • @OldBeardedGuyReacts
      @OldBeardedGuyReacts  8 месяцев назад +3

      Ooooffff....that's a tough one.
For top 3, here's my current list:
Hurley- He's basically just always doing what he can to try to help. He seems to be the peacekeeper in a lot of situations.
Locke- He seemed to be one of the first in the group to really come to terms with what was actually happening and how long they were probably going to be stranded.
Boone- I wasn't a big fan of him originally, but lately I've been liking him more and more. Now that he seems to be distancing himself from being manipulated by Shannon, he's definitely earned a spot on my list.
Sun would be a quick runner up for me. Her knowledge of growing and using plants for the group would be invaluable in a situation like this. Also, I like that her husband is starting to be more like his old self with her now that he's away from the influence of her father.
In terms of the personality that would be most like me, it would probably be Hurley. In this situation I would be in that peacekeeper role. He can also be pretty sarcastic, which I definitely relate to.

I have no notes for this one except to say Susan is one of my least favorite off-island characters. She selfishly put Michael through so much she didn’t need to. She could have just figured out a mutually beneficial arrangement and instead deprived her son of a relationship with his father.

I've watched 15 and 16 as well...I don't remember which one it is, but in one of them I make a WHOPPER of a prediction. It relates to something that I could prove or disprove by rewatching an older episode. I was 100% completely wrong but I'm leaving it in the edit because I can't wait for the comments that are like "wow...the shows you like 2 curve balls and suddenly you think every single character is a liar."
