  • Göbekli Tepe in southern Turkey could be the oldest place of worship in the history of civilization. It may have been built to worship the dog star, Sirius.
The ruins include massive stones about 11,000 years old, carved and crafted by prehistoric people without metal tools or any knowledge of pottery. The pillars are 16 feet tall and weighs between 7 to 10 tons; Elaborately carved with Fox, Lion, Scorpion and Vulture motifs. These megaliths predate Stonehenge by about 6,000 years.
