Excellent video. I just got my Nova Go today from Amazon and I wanted to give everyone out there who are considering buying this guitar a BIG HEADS UP. I have been watching RUclips videos here from everyone doing Enya Nova Go videos to research the product as well as see what is included in the box. There are some significant changes in what is included in the package now. First off the box I received was a single brown cardboard box and not a glossy shiny white and pastel colored box inside of a cardboard box like I have seen in every box opening video here on RUclips. 2nd there was no plastic bag protecting the gig bag, and they completely changed the gig bag from a semi-hard imitation leather or vinyl material to a softer padded canvas material bag with no plush velvet style lining inside. Also the strap is now rolled up like a belt and placed inside a black cardboard box since the gig bag no longer has the strap attached and instead sports 2 backpack style straps for the bag to be worn like a back pack. Also all the accessories are no longer found in the gig bag pocket, they are in a plastic zip lock type bag and is placed on top of the gig bag when you first open the shipping box. So there have been changes recently which took me by surprise when I received the guitar. I was expecting to everything to be exactly like how it has been in all the RUclips videos.

I bought an Enya Go with the electronics in it when Amazon had their Prime Days recently. I actually like the guitar, You're correct in saying there have been some changes in the gig bag and so on. It will definitely be my traveler for vacations, family visits, etc.

I’m new to learning an instrument, ukulele about four months now. So I don’t have t much experience in describing the sound differences but I’m learning. I like the tone of the Enya especially the way the sound Carries on. The fact that it’s a travel guitar, light weight; affordable, and that you don’t have to worry about damaging it under normal circumstances. Great choice for a beginner, & a travel guitar. Appreciate the time spent on researching these instruments, your enthusiasm & how fun you make your reviews. Thank you

That I generally don't even plug in. I'm considering getting the acoustic electric version of this guitar.. Because it has some cool effects.. And I can finally make some sound ring out.. Thanks for a great review.. The guitar sounds very similar to your others..🎸🎶👍

    Hi Katie,
I tore my rotator cuff 6 months ago and I can’t get my arm around my favorite guitar, a 1958 Martin D-18 Dreadnought. I’ve been thinking about this guitar so I can keep playing and I’ve wanted a travel guitar for a while. I played guitar and sax professionally in the Seattle area for 50 years until I had to retire from playing in clubs for health reasons. I loved this demo video and I’m about ready to buy one. So thank you for giving a straight forward review and comparison video to give me the information I needed. You are a great teacher.

I just ordered this today in the Nova Go SP1 Acoustic/Electric. The same color too. Wasn’t my first color choice, but these get sold out very fast on Amazon. I liked that chord progression you were playing. Looked like E to G to A to E7. Very nice. Hi, Guitar will come Wednesday I forward to playing it. Actually held up well in sound next to your more expensive guitars.

    • @OneMusicSchool
      @OneMusicSchool  2 года назад +1

Hi and thanks for watching :). I love my concert Nova U as well, and I'm excited that you're thinking about the guitar again. I think that what you will have a better experience this time around with the guitar because you have developed muscle memory and coordination with learning the ukulele.
I hope to make a video comparing or just talking about all of the instruments in the Nova series because I now have all 4 (soprano, concert, tenor, and the guitar). It can be very hard to gauge if an instrument is going to be the right one for you just off of internet reviews alone. One size of an instrument may be perfect for one person and to another it could be very uncomfortable or just not feel right. If you can, perhaps see if you can visit a store that carries a 1/2 guitar or one that is 33 inches in length, and see if it's something that would be comfortable for you. It won't be the like testing the NOVA in person, but at least it could help you get a feel for the size of the instrument. I hope that helps.

Really great review! Best on RUclips for this guitar!
I thought the Enya sounded better than the Baby Taylor and that's saying something!
The aNueNue M20 was spectacular, but my requirement is a small "beater" guitar that I can throw in my truck and play in the heat, the dust, the fog, wherever. Durability and the ability to wipe it all off with a damp cloth were the key to me ordering this up. It know it won't sound like my full size Yamaha and hopefully the smaller scale won't completely throw me off, but I think this will fit the bill nicely and allow me to get much more practice time in.

Hi Katie! I so love and appreciate this great, comprehensive review. Thank you! I love playing ukulele but decided to start learning the guitar. I'm 5'1" and my son's guitar is a full size and boy is it such a challenge for me to handle! Now I'm not one who gets easily intimidated especially as I know that guitars come in different sizes. For some reason, this Enya Nova Go guitar seems to be calling my name. To be honest, it doesn't really bother me whether it's made of wood or plastic as long as the sound is great and the price is reasonable. I'd very much welcome any other point you think I should consider before diving in. :-)

this is the best review of the Nova Go. I bought one and was impressed. It is just really playable. I thought the half size would be a hinderance, because my other guitars are full-scale. I haven’t really noticed it while playing. The sound is just as it sounds on the video. Meaning, if you like it on RUclips, you will like it at home.

Been playing over 50 years & have way too many guitars ,but still suckered out & bought this. It is arriving later today. I have learned over the years - Low price / high price is not always the deciding factor in enjoying playing a given instrument. Have tried many travel guitars. Some were lifeless ,some were okay. This one looks good.

Just got mine, also in aqua blue.
I LOVE it!!! I am a mostly electric blues rock player using light strings.
Out of the box it was very low action (a good thing) I also like the LP style single cutaway. Intonation was spot on.
To me, being a blues player, the sound is loud, and similar to a resophonic guitar, particularly my National Resophonic LP plastic body guitar from the 50s.
It also had a 23.7 scale length which is longer than my 3/4 size Yamaha and Luna guitars which are 21.5 and 22 scale. However, it seems just as easy to play.
My ONLY minor complaint is that especially with the smaller size, there no fret markers on the fretboard. They are on the binding edge, but I find myself sometimes playing the wrong chord up the fretboard because of the smaller scale length.
Adding fret markers, even just stickers would be helpful when playing a smaller guitar than usual or for kids and beginners. I think it was a design aesthetic decision, but not the best IMOP.
I will change the strings out to a slightly lighter gauge and a plain third. But even with the factory strings, it's great.
BTW I paid only $180. for the guitar on Amazon with a 10% coupon on checkout. Free Prime shipping available.

I received mine yesterday. A black one. My action came a little high but I can live with that but I did not receive a compensated saddle. Is yours compensated? I see you received yours only a month ago. The ones that have been sent to players for review all have compensated saddles. I think the ones they send out for reviews are probably specially tweaked.

Pro review, thanks Katie 😃I've been wanting to try a carbon fiber Rain Song guitar forever but Guitar Center never has one available. So having been intrigued with the whole graphite guitar concept, I'll get a chance to finally own and play one first hand but at a reasonable price.
BTW, I had two instances of your video opened up, specifically comparing the Enya go to the Baby Taylor, and have to say, I really could hear the nice rich tone of the Enya and personally thought it sounded slightly better than Baby Taylor. My only concern is the fact it's 1/2 size (30" scale length) and if it will be difficult to play as an adult. Again, great demo and review. Happy to have found your channel.. Cheers🎸

The tonal quality between the Enya and a full-size isn't a deal breaker for me. The intonation is a great, though, which is a real selling point. I'm looking for a guitar to throw on the back of my bike so I can busk in Deadwood during the Sturgis Rally and this one is checking a lot of the boxes. I have very small hands and the Bullet Mustang of 24 in scale was much better so I wonder how this will fair? For my fingers, and hands, a thin neck (such as an Ibanez Wizard III) is a must and a 42mm nut seems to be the best since my short fingers are also wide (as is usually the case) because my nightmare on even a 43mm neck is the A chord as I can't stuff my fingers that close together. C chord is doable on a 25.5 inch but finger 3 can't stretch beyond mid fret.

    • @gat569
      @gat569 Год назад

@@generalawareness101 Sooner or later, you might try to learn the 1st position A-chord where you bar with just your index of middle finger only... just 1 finger. It's challenging at first but becomes easier. It was extra challenging for me b/c my finger joints don't extend much (i have tight finger ligaments), making it harder to flatten out that last finger bone against 3 separate strings. But if you have more flexible finger joints (going into extension), it should be easier.

I just now started to touch the guitar, just diddling with it and the pains will always be there now but my drive is strong just the body hampering me (even more now). @@generalawareness101 Oh dude, I am sorry to hear that. I definitely find the one-finger A kind of painful, so maybe I would not recommend that, knowing more. Hey, I just recently got an electric guitar in a shorter scale )(24.75")(my first electric) and love it, it's an IYV 300... a semi-hollow body jazz guitar. It is so much easier to play than acoustics. I have a friend with a hand injury who said the same and recommended it to me. Since I've only ever played acoustics, this has been a revelation. It also has opened up the neck to me because it lends itself to playing the blues and that's a lot less chords and more melody playing. And the Am pentatonic 5 note pattern is relatively easy. I'm just barely into it. I hope you get just the right guitar for you and can get back into it :)

It did help and made the fchord so much easier. TBH a slim neck (no, not nut width but slim as in depth) PLUS 1/2 scale would be perfect but 1/2 scale is a PITA to keep tuned for even a couple of notes. :(

How wide is the nut? I played guitar maaaany moons ago and I have very small hands and found it hard to stretch my fingers that far. Started playing the uke a few years and loved that it does have a much smaller neck and nut than guitars.

If you are still looking, you should get it.
I was thinking about a six string uke but i bought this.
Never worry about denting my new guitar like i did with my seagull or kremona.
Most importantly, it stays in tune. Just don't forget to stretch your strings after the first tune, then retune again. Maybe reapply one more time if you need to.😆😆😆
      Seriously, great forever guitar imho.
Rated as a very very beginning guitarist. So please note this.😆😆😆

    Great review.
I'm homeless living in a car and i just got done practicing with mine.
It definitely helps when you play in the front seat of a vehicle.
I sometimes take out my kremona which is in my car also when my hand is too cramped.
I'm just learning, so the Nova stays in hand most of the practice time and i play the other guitar if I'm in the right head space to deal with the tight playing space.😆
Going to take it hiking and camping soon.
That was the main reason i bought it. Camping.
    Have a blessed day.

😄 No, no, no thank you.
Your video is great for validating a purchase ( no buyers remorse 😆).
You played quite a bit to show potential buyers what we are getting.
I was thinking of the Martin travel, but no base.
A 6 string uke or baby taylor, are really beautiful and probably projects more, but more susceptible to weather conditions and denting.
Knowing me, my guitar will look like Willie Nelson's guitar at the end of a camping trip.
The Nova has base and a fuller sound like you demonstrated, but as a newbie, you don't want others to hear you so this is perfect because you can play softer and it doesn't boom like a actual dreadnought.
But i can play loud when you use a pick. ( I play finger cuz it's quieter)😆😆😆.
Be blessed and have a wonderful week.

The sustain is crazy ! Put this through BIAS FX2 and its incredible!

I have really bad tendinitis in my elbow that makes playing a dreadnaught size really painful. My Gretsch hollow body electric is about as big as I can go. Really interested in this guitar just for the size and acoustic qualities. I have an IVY Jaguar acoustasonic style that I love but acoustically it isn't very loud. Good for practicing when the kids are asleep but couldn't play it unplugged with friends. This guitar seems like a good combination and would be a guitar my kids could begin to learn on.
One tip on neck dive that I've learned. You can take the balance weights from a ceiling fan and hang them from the strap button to help reduce the neck dive. Works great on my SG.

Mine needed a saddle replacement for intonation.... But that was easy enough to do... I put a compensated bone saddle in. The app/electronics are really good for dialing in and eq'ing a little body and sustain without sounding like a speaker inside... It's subtle, but missed when turned off... I can really hear the difference with different kinds of pins on my wooden guitars, I'm going to try adding some rosewood pins for the strings.... See if it adds a little rosewood harmonics... Which would also be very subtle. Since I've replaced the saddle on really happy with it... The action is also perfect now.

I've bought this guitar after trying the Enya ukuleles, that have quited impressed me. For the guitar, I'm almost satisfied with some little notes. The pure acoustic sound is not perfect, with a lot of mid range frequencies and cutting on the high ones; despite this and considering the alternatives on the same price range the several advantages of durability and stability of carbon fiber compared to wood make the choice worth. The really game-changer is the FX section inside: they are good and working on the EQ you can easily adjust the frequencies volumes as you prefer, it'a a BIG advantage and makes this guitar perfect for beginners, intermediate or people that wants to carry on travels 😍😍😍

So, unboxed it and everything is just like Katie said is was. Action at the bridge is high, so I will try a Graphtech 9200-CO, and not touch the truss rod until then. It ships with no relief, but it was in tune out of the box. Not sure the tuners will do it but we will see. Do Grover minis come in black??? The neck is really nice. Nice balance and sustain. Very solid.
Bass is lean, but so it is on parlor guitars at $2000+. The neck dive is not bad at all. I wanted to try a carbon fiber guitar, but none of the ones out there was interesting. compared to my D-18, and they are as expensive. I am glad that I got an acoustic one, and not the upcoming phone app version. I would much rather put a piezo on it and use a Tone dexter or some such. It is even predrilled under the saddle for a bridge pickup. I happen to like short scales and heavier strings, and this one seems to have a resonant frequency near D, so I might use it for various flavors of D tuning.
Anyway, I see this as a platform to experiment with, and I am grateful to Katie for a great review. She nailed it all.

Enya claims that it can take nylon strings, but I have yet to find anyone on RUclips who has tried them!

Hi and thanks for watching. I address that question with pictures in the video 😊. It would be too long to write my thoughts here, so the video will let you know. Let me know if you have any questions.

Find the “Truss rod” time stamp 😀.

Yeah.....the action is waaaaay too high. What you showed seems unplayable to me. Lowering action that high isn't just a truss rod adjustment. It's modding both the nut and bridge, which may not be doable if the bridge is also carbon fiber connected to the carbon fiber body
