- For every FNAF fan game that is released, there are countless amounts of games that have been canceled for various reasons. In this video, I'll go through some games that never came to be and why.

7:20 i think the issue with phil wasnt really him not "controlling his fanbase" and instead him just not taking the situation seriously from the very start instead of just making jokes about it until, by phil's own admission, he saw his friends siding against him
i mean, i can understand not taking it seriously when this sort of thing happens on the internet every other day seemingly. he was wrong but i also think the response was a massive overreaction.
like not taking the death threats someone was getting seriously while also getting mad at people for being mad about his opinion on ruin was actually crazy to me. like he cultivated that type of fanbase and he should've been like i don't condone doxxing and it's horrible that some of you are doing all that over a joke and it could've been over.

Phis is a content creator, y'all hated dude so much before this I'm pretty sure he was getting death threats. I understand his response because a few rogue fans act crazy all of a sudden the burden of other people's behavior is on you. Death threats are bad, yes, but unless Phis was like hey harrass this person (which phis didn't even respond to the fnaf plus is boring tweet if I remember correctly) then what does phis have to do with that? Someone talked negative about a popular thing, a lot of the time death threats and harassment come with that, but that's on the people, not the creator. Even if he said he doesn't condone death threats, people would've still made them. Then what? Y'all would forget about the person getting the threats anyway.

Listening back to what I did and how I approached things always makes me cringe.
I felt like I had my entire life pulled away from under me and that got me to overshare and traumadump as a coping mechanism, something I should not have done in the 1st place and something I definetely should not have tried to defend in the ... 2nd? place? It made me lose longtime friends and aquantences and feeling barred from the community.
Anyway, I'm glad to see there's still love for Aftonbuilt, and I still hold it too.
In a perfect world it would've been out by now, but sadly we do not live in one.
I'm hoping that I can finally put something out there again that people can play one of these days.
I have not been stagnant, in fact there's been lots behind the scenes but all went nowhere in the end, running into dead ends.
Lets see if this year can be a better one.

I'm confident that you'll be able to make another great project in the future. Just make sure that whatever you do don't go to Theft King. I'm still honestly surprised he didn't face any legal action either with the NDA got violated.
Whenever a fnaf fangame is announced, there's a 40-60% chance that said game will be canceled.
It sounds like a pessimistic thing to say, but I've seen my fair share of good fnaf fangames get canceled to not believe otherwise.
Thing is, you're only looking at big and popular projects. These projects due to recieving popularity are facing far more pressure. Smaller projects, even if often less good are posted daily in dozens because they're not facing that stress. I think generally the problem is that once a person amasses popularity, everything they work hard for can be thrown out the window incredibly quickly if someone just finds a good enough reason to hate them or their game.

@@youraveragehotdog6836 absolutely. Too many good games gone down the drain. Some for valid reasons, and some for quarrels that shouldn't have happened in the first place nor exploded to the lengths they did.
It is 5-10% at most. I think you need to check the new page every once in a while.
That’s cuz games r hard to make. Too many consumers underestimate how difficult it is and how many games and scrapped ideas exist in this world. So many things don’t make it to launch, let alone final products.

The fact that phisnom did something stupid once, got his game cancelled as a result and subsequently not only had someone remake the game from scratch from screenshots alone, but someone make a remake in fucking *Geometry Dash* is beyond hilarious. Honestly, if that shit happened to me, I wouldnt even be mad, thats funny as hell

Phis said in the video he literally is not allowed to talk about Five Nights at Freddy's anymore. It was not a choice he made, even if it is a choice he would have made if he wasn't legally barred from doing so.
He also legally isn't able to talk about FNaF Plus by extension, since it was a commercial product and not just a fan-game.

Phisnom recently said on a stream that he was in a bad part of his life when developing FNAF+, saying that was a reason he did drinking streams so much back then. I feel this definetly played a part in both his slowed down game development and not taking the Twitter situation as seriously as he should have
That, and he gets into stupid drama all the time because people get mad at his opinions. He probably just assumed it was another thing like that. I still think he should’ve taken it more seriously, but he’s probably learned from that now

Hey, thank you so much for covering cog! It means a lot that you were really understanding about it, and I'm really sorry it was so hard to find references for the game. That was entirely on me since I migrated the page to my archive page awhile back, so most of the stuff logging the game's development was nuked as a result. Another thing, I've actually been suffering a lot of burnout with GSaF lately and you mentioning it actually helped reignite my want to finish the project so I just wanted to say thank you for that as well. Overall this is a great video, and I'm genuinely shocked it isn't getting more attention. Keep up the good work dude!
I’m glad you watched my video and gave it your time! As for references, it’s alright since I know when you’re trying to transfer things you can forget to do some stuff and others you just don’t think are as important which is perfectly understandable, it’s better than not having the game itself be lost to time and only available through shady youtube descriptions lmao.

While no you can't control your fan base, I do believe a simple, "hey, that's awful behaviour, don't do that!" Post would've been more than enough from Phisnom showing he doesn't condone the behaviour from his fans, however the post he made didn't do that did it? Wasn't supporting it but wasn't chastising the bad people in his audience either and making a joke about the situation, I mean there's no other word for it except self destruct. The man acted in a way that was unbecoming of an influencer and I see Fnaf+'s fate as his wake up call that he needed to do better, sometimes wake up calls, hard crashes back to reality, they can be devastating, I get that, but ultimately if he comes out of this a better person, maybe it was worth it
The thing is, he wasn’t going to do that. Guy’s a bit of a slave to his audience. He said he wasn’t going to play Ruin. Fans had asked him prior and he kept saying no, cuz he wouldn’t like it. He knew he was biased off the bat.
So the game comes out and he plays it. Cuz apparently his “fans” wanted it. And he trashed it cuz who wouldn’t see that coming? He couldn’t hold true to his own desires. So when ppl criticized him for his takes, he allowed his fanbase to continue cuz he can’t stand up to them. And he had to support them, of course.
Why cultivate a decent fanbase who respects your decisions over a toxic fanbase that white knights for your honor? I guess it’s why it’s called the toxic cesspit.

The victim and the disruptor are the second group, the agressed.
In the case here an idiot expressed an opinion to mock phiznom and fnaf+ and got harrassed. Phiznom, the grown man he is, instead of taking the place of the disruptor by making a post saying "not cool guys, don't do it, that's bad" he took the place of the bystander by locking about the situation...
And I speak from having suffered from harassment. It ended when I broke and send 3 dudes to the hospital.

I think with the Phisnom thing it wasn't about "controlling his fanbase" no decently-sized content creator can ever dream of doing it. It's the joke apology that really did it. If he had made an actual sincere apology, denouncing the people who actually sent death threats, it would've been fine. Instead, he joked about something that should've been handled with a more serious tone
I want to add something to Phisnoms' situation, which i think contributed heavily to him stepping away from the project.
Scott Cawthon essentially barred Phil from any outside help while projects like Flumptys 3 and Popgoes had mulitple people or even teams working on it. From what Phil has said in the past, Scott was being very protective and picky when it came to the FNAF+ as it could be viewed as an extension of the main brand, meaning who whole project had to be developed solo, including things Phil was uncomfortable or unfamiliar with like Sound and Music.
I think this is what i think drove Phisnom away, the main parts of development were finished and he was getting burnt out with doing everything himself.
Evidence? if so, then Scott probably wasn’t the best to work with on that project.

The thing is Phil said i think in one of his development streams that Scott ASKED him to try and do all of it alone because there will be too much paperwork related to brand and such, allso the is a stream "arson allegations" he talks about his experience a little

Even so I don't think Phil was barred from outside help, I think him and Scott made a sort of bet that Phil could remake FNaF all by himself similar to how Scott did (without a dedicated team like other fanverse projects)
Phil obviously has a bit of an ego so it tracks with his personality.
FNAF+ and Aftonbuilt are really scary examples of how making a fnaf game (or any game in general) can have HORRIBLE consequences when your not mentally fit for the challenge.
I know this cause I was a roblox developer back in 2021. And trust me, i've been through some *horrible* things...

Btw a toxic RUclipsr named sleeplive was also responsible for FNAF + to get cancelled, he downplayed the situation more than phisnom taking it as a joke, said that phisnom shouldn't have apologized and to add insult to injury he threw the person that should not be mentioned under the bus by putting his irl face in his thumbnail, accusing them of using the controversy clout and downright bullying and belittling them

many people who get their games somehow popular become weird. Its kind of common even on youtube as you can see with youtubers for example their channels becoming strange and even ai-like. Its the same with some devs.
At this point, I'm pretty much done with fangames, 7/10 fangames just end up getting canceled for some reason. I just can't win, it's only official stuff or nothing for me now

i REALLY wish we got the actual fnaf plus and even though i know it’s futile i still am hoping for a possible revival in the next few years.
Phisnom actually is pretty cool with fnaf plus remakes because before fnaf plus was cancelled there was a ton of fnaf plus fan games made and he breifly mentioned in a stream he wanted to do a stream someday where he plays all of them and he was pretty positive about it
Also porkchops horror show is completely cancelled he mentioned it on a stream a year before fnaf plus's cancellation
I've been watching since the FNAF fan songs video and I feel like your on the right track content wise so keep it up.
On another note I would love if you did another FNAF fan songs video but a bit more of a deep dive into more specifics that weren't mention in the first one.
FNAF 2 took 4 months, Candy's 2 took 7 months, Flumpty's 2 took "about 4 weeks"
how did FNAF Plus, a reskin of FNAF 1 take over 2 years to develop
there was only 2-3 ways FNAF Plus was going to end
Phisnom shadow-dropping the game after everyone gave up and him barely talking about it
Phisnom getting into a controversy cuz of his shit personality and canceling the game
Scott forcing Phisnom to release something
No Patrick, fnaf plus was not just "a reskin of fnaf 1"
Also different devs work at different speeds
Tbh I don't care what anybody says, it's Phisnom's own fault that fnaf+ went down the route it went, he didn't care about the game nor his fans, or even the franchise that he claimed he loved so dearly. He's just an egotistical, over-sensitive sloth who never cared about fnaf or Scott Cawthon and was just too lazy to be put in charge of remaking an iconic horror game. Like look at his old game, Porkchop's adventure, it had serious potential, all that being wasted by Phisnom's lack of care for his creation so he just dumped it and used "Family issues" as an excuse. The same thing happened with fnaf+, he couldn't be bothered to put effort into creating the game and couldn't take criticism so because of that, he had a silly little temper tantrum and cancelled fnaf+ and left the series all together because of his Ego. Thanks for nothing Phisnom.

16:08 The game actually did have a Trojan, however, Theresnosteak had no idea how this could've happened since the devs never encountered this issue. She took the page down to prevent anyone else from getting a virus until said problem was resolved. Which obviously never happened.

A mod for Tony Hawk’s Underground called THUG Pro! There’s a ton of kids for the game especially with custom skaters, I’m honestly pretty awful at the game but when I get time to i’ll try and become better and redo the outro. As for the song, it’s in the description :3

19:09 reminds me of the games Patty & Mr. Miles and HetaOni. Both were games/sequels that were cancelled due to their computers failing after some well known natural disasters in Japan.
It’s always sad to see games end cuz of this issue, esp Patty & Mr. Miles since it was left on a cliffhanger

The Fnaf+ situation as a whole is sad, while i know creators can't be expected to control each and every follower they have when they are doing stuff in the name of the creator, the way Phil handled the situation was really bad
The consecuences of basing your internet persona on being an annyoning and hateful dude that makes problematic/controversial comments (even if it is just a persona and not your real personality) is that you'll attract people who are annyoing, hateful and problematic as your audience, combine that to the way phil decided to not take the situation seriously soon enough, and it's kinda obvious something like this was gonna happen
This is why i deter myself from following Content Creators with that kind of personality as a selling point, a lot of the times they are bad people or their followers are bad people or a combination of the two, it's just safer to not get close to that kind of content creators for your mental health
I never cared much about Fnaf+ tbh, but still it's sad the og game will never be finished bc a lot of people were really excited for the game, i hope Phil learnt from this experience as is more careful of the way he treats his audience, and i hope he keeps creating stuff bc he might be annyoning, but he's really good at his job 🙏
About the fnaf+ Fangame situation i have to say that: I am super against AI voices and all of this AI generated Content trend that has become popular lately bc it is mostly trained and based on stolen content made form real artists and actors. I am very happy that Scott is also opposed to AI voices, but i am ever happier that the Fnaf+fangame dev owned up to his mistakes and decided to contract a real voice actor for the game, even if at the end the game wasn't allowed to be published (which is understandable tbh)
People are allowed to make mistakes, and while i dislike AI voices and such, i don't think we should execute people for using them or smth, specially if it is small creators that may even not know the damage these AI tools are provocating to the industry, it's not a sin to not know every single problematic backstory of every new popular product, specially one that has been sadly really normalized by a lot of people these past years.
I am glad the dev learned from this experience and i wish them the best of luck in future projects they decide do make or participate on ^^
The Afton build situation is sad bc how it was handled, it doesn't help the fact that theftking became involucrated lmao, i wish the best for the devs of the game and Jeli, i hope their work is able to be properly appreciated and published in the future if they decide to continue doing games, be it as a team or as separate people
Seeing a complete vision of what Afton Built was gonna be it's gonna be it's probably impossible, but i'd still love to see projects inspired of ideas that weren't able to be used in the game yet

Really sucks to hear that about Aftonbuilt. I remember watching Markiplier play it and thinking it looked really interesting, if not a bit janky and poorly balanced, more or less. I also hope someone either picks it up and takes the idea and makes their own spin on it, maybe releasing it in "chapters" since there were 4 pins on the map.

6:44 I think this story shows one of my biggest gripes with the state of the internet today. Back in like, 2016, people would say f-d up stuff all the time, and no one took it to heart because there was no expectation for responsibility on the internet. People knew that youtubers are often just dumb teenagers poking fun with their editing softwares so even if there were 5 dramas a day in the style of the Phisnom situation, it would not result in games getting cancelled and channels going silent, but would just be a "f- you and I'll see you tommorow" sort of deal. Nowdays, people are expected to be perfect and responsible, and the crowd, especially in platforms like Twitter that encourage hostility, is given _way_ too much power over the individuals actually putting in the work to make stuff. This creates situations like this:
-phisnom says game is boring
-someone jokingly says phisnom's game is boring
-twitter is twitter
-phisnom doesn't take it seriously
-*game gets cancelled for good*
This whole situation wreaks of a big lack of understanding in the internet that people can be stupid sometimes and make mistakes or say mean things, because that's the world we live in. And you can't solve things by manifesting a mob around every person that says something you dislike. Instead, you need to be compassionate to the people around you and distance yourself from people that make your life worse. And it honestly pisses me off how much great things go down the drain over the stupidest and most menial shit in the world piling up in the most irresponsible ways imaginable. We aren't in a soap opera nor a sit-com made for children. We are living in a real and complicated human society and we need to accept it.

The reasonable and objective thing to do is to just stand down, walk away and get off the Internet before the situation escalates. That said, it's still not alright to have a bad attitude and belittle others and get away with it because you're talented.

Phisnom already had a very negative view of the Lighter and Softer direction mainstream FNAF was going in, but that didn't give him the right to be a jerk to people who liked it. Granted, the fans are also kind of at fault here for triggering him, but he didn't have to join in with the mocking and bullying of that one person who made a jab at his expense. He could have played it cool and been coy about it, but above all, he should have taken it seriously. No joke here, this incident is actually the reason why I take everything in life seriously.

While I generally agree with your opinion on Phisnom and FNAF+, I do think he’s accountable for his own actions. He can’t control his fanbase, you’re totally right. Ppl shouldn’t expect that. The main issue was that he said he wasn’t going to play Ruin. He knew he wasn’t as into FNAF anymore, but he played Ruin for some reason. And of course he disliked it.
This whole thing began cuz he couldn’t stick to his own decisions. He can’t control his audience but he can control his own actions, and he refused to do so. All he wanted was an excuse to vent his frustrations out on, and I doubt FNAF+ would’ve been made, like you said.
If i recall correctly, someone he knew had convinced him to play it, he actually wasnt going to.

Personally, i wouldn't have any issue with Phisnom, i do admit that Ruin isn't scary, and it gives more questions than answers, but he really could've gone about it differently. PLUS, he said that he delays FNAF Plus' release by 1 day everytime someone asked him for a release date, so that's already pretty petty if it isn't a joke, and the way he addressed the situation on twitter... I don't think it's that hard to tell your fanbase 'hey, don't sent death threats to people over a game with killer robots', but for Phisnom, seems like it was.
I still see the fnaf + cancellation as a everyone's too blame for what happened. Phisnom forgot even if is his persona is supposed to toxic, that people will have buttons push if it involves kids and them being exposed to something. fans because they acted inmature and did behaviour which instead of making them the ones to paid it fell on Phisnom instead and finally the other side of community which where saying Phil got what he deserved but showed hipocresy and the same behaviour they were calling him for. I agree this whole thing should't had cost him the spot in the fanverse, and I actually knew he wouldn't like ruin before his stream because when I saw dawko's playthought I knew it had the things Phil does not like in a horror game and even he made clear at first he was not gonna play ruin but gave in just because people were telling him it "fixed security breach"
4:43-4:52 Yeah i gotta agree on that situation involving that person being very ironic. I tend to look at that part is two wrongs not making a right. It overall feels like the drama between Phisnom and this fan really got blown out of proportion and both sides did stuff to make themselves look bad. It's sad FNAF+ got cancelled by at the same time it does feel like a blessing in disguise on Phisnom's part. At least there's the version by LostPaw that came close to Phisnom's vision of the game so FNAF+ technically does have a happy ending.

I think it's a real shame that fnaf + got scrapped. I know what Phisnom said was wrong but I still feel sorry for him. He lost so many hours of work by having all his fan games and streams removed and was forbidden from ever talking about a series he'd previously loved. I can't imagen how painful that must have been.

I specifically said this because some people criticised security breach and one of the points they made was that it was too ambitious and there wasn't enough time to flesh it out which probably led to the weird story and so much cut content that probably would have made security breach better. Also the glitches.

FNaF has sadly just become a mostly corporate product. It ended in FNaF 4, and everything after was kind of just extra. SL+6+UCN had some passion, but once Scott went to Steel Wool FNaF officially became a brand product and not an indie product. It's just par for the course that it'd end up this way now tbh
I think Security Breach was the game that made Scott wary of ambitious projects. Remember that Afton Built wasn't still finished, and Security Breach came out with so many problems that it made it one of the most controversial games in the franchise. The fact is, even if the developers at Steel Wool had a lot of love for it (and that love translated into parts of the game that are frankly really good to the point of making the game loved by some), they still made a game that was downright unplayable for some people. And if a company that shows that kind of ambition didn't do it, what gives the security that Afton Built would have not ended the same? I am sad for how Afton Built ended, but I understand Scott's wariness for the ambition of other creators.

I'm mostly on Phisnom's side with regards to the controversy, but, as pointed out in the Minaxa video, he seems like someone who based his whole persona off of being an abrasive asshole.
The problem with doing that is that, when the person gets into a controversy, no one wants to support them since people don't like them due to how abrasive and dickish they are.

He's not a good guy, but I think that the actions of both him and the other individual are similar in that the response to them was far stronger than warranted. Phisnom may be an asshole, but having a shitty personality is hardly warrant to destroy a project that they worked for years on.
I can hardly deny that he's a douchebag, but I don't think his cancellation was warranted. Though I do think he probably would have become a pariah at some point regardless due to his long pattern of abrasive behavior.

I think LostPaw FNAF+ is like the GTA Underground case. If you don't know this mod made by combining multiple GTA 3D era on which got cancelled because of Rockstar. Not everyone is a sadboy giving up because of one controlversy. Some other team gonna bring the torch and make that a reality. Now we have GTA Mixed which is a open source variant of GTA Underground which not the exact copy but it makes it into a reality.
FNAF Plus was honestly something I was excited for. Im not a fan of the dev, but the game looked great. Its such a damn shame.

I'm kinda sad that Aftonbuilt could never be finished it would have been the best fangame ever. I hope it gets revived by someone someday and it was such a perfect fit for the Fanverse even though Scott rejected it it uses somewhat original designs, the story is unique and the gameplay is something we've never seen before. Scott technically had no reason to reject it due to it following all the Fanverse rules

Out of all of these I have to say I'm most sad about Aftonbuilt. While I also didn't get the plot, I also took it with a grain of salt since it's an unfinished project that never got a proper Kickstart.
I don't have any strong opinions on the TheftKing and Liam controversy, but I do know a FNAF fangame where you can set traps, hunt for scraps and travel to different locations from the series (I *believe* Chica's Party world was going to be one of them? Dont quote me on that) was way too cool of an idea to abandon, even if Scott wasn't interested or just believed it to be too ambitious.
The idea is still super exciting and I hate that it hasn't been picked up again in any form (sure Pizza Sim let you do the salvage stuff but it never involved you actually going out to get the parts/animatronic *yourself,* you just interview em, watch for danger cues and take notes)
