    I thank God for the much needed rain. The morning after my garden exploded with growth and my onions are getting bigger and my greens are growing like weeds. My squash is blooming and have already have squash on them. Tomatoes and eggplants are blooming. The Lord has been good this growing season.

    Hello Danny and Wanda.
    I'm so glad just rain for you all. And wind sounds pretty strong.
    Mostly had wind here and some rain.
    Supposed to get colder here again so trying to be patient
    but do have cucumber that pollinate each other from Hoss, potatoes, tomato starts and strawberries coming up in protected
    area. Trying to get a head start for my area.
    I love seeing those roots and definitely worth having those.
    Oh my look at those strawberries.
    Those egg plant leaves are huge.
    The Danny Corn is hanging in there and should be fine.
    It's a joy to see how everything is doing alright and not much effect from all that rain and wind.
    I'm so thankful you two are going to continue to have some good eating from what your growing.
    Thanks so much for sharing how everything is growing and doing after the rain and wind.

    Try planting a couple climbing beans, like Kentucky Wonder, with your tomatoes that are next to the panels. The beans twine around the tomato and the metal panels which helps hold the tomato up. A little extra nitrogen fixing doesn't hurt the tomato.

    I have a gopher/mole or two or more taking out my veggies, one plant at a time, and can't seem to eradicate it/them. I think I'm going to have to dig up my entire raise beds, put down hardware cloth, and reinstall all my raised beds & refill. I don't usually plant a summer garden here in AZ zone 9b, so if I get started now, I might be ready for fall gardening.

    • @joannc147
      @joannc147 4 месяца назад

      It’s not moles, they are meat-eaters (grubs, etc.). Sounds like you’ve got lots of work ahead of you, good luck! I’ve got vole issues here in NC. I placed a few inches of rugged gravel at the bottom of my beds as that will last longer than hardware cloth. They don’t like to dig thru that. Frankly, hardware cloth would be a WHOLE lot easier tho!

      In Florida, potatoes would be a winter crop, because they do NOT like the heat. You might want to try canna lilies, true yams, and dahlias, all of which have edible tubers and don’t play well with cold. Always consider the climate from where your crops originated.
