  • This video highlights the new import USD feature added to the Omniverse Unreal Connector and how it can be used in different workflows. We will be importing, re-importing and live editing USD files using Maya, USD Composer, and Machinima. We will also navigate how these assets integrate into Unreal’s native systems, including the materials editor, Nanite and collisions.

amazing demo, best I've seen in quite a while. I'm at a stage where I have gotten the basics of omniverse and am comfortable with it, but I want to start seeing what is possible taking that content into unreal and this is exactly what I was looking for.

I have been struggling to see what additional function this truly brings. Sure it brings connectivity between the two platforms, but what additional functionality does omniverse bring that unreal or even unity don’t have? Especially since it seems like the direction of connectivity favors omniverse OUT way more than it does bringing things into omniverse. But i think i might just be missing the point

Is it possible to package an application in Unreal with USD included as a plugin? And in general with USD functionalities?

I can bring marbles into unreal and it loads up nicely. Animations for the different objects are all working. The issue I am trying to sort though is that I want to be able to simply save the project, only when I do so, it seems to lose the animating behavior and everything goes static. I don't want to work off of the original usd. I want to be able to import the usd and work with it as a project that has been more fully converted to unreal format. As I am new to unreal and using this type of omniverse workflow I feel like this should be possible but I must be missing something.
