Our First Video | Off Grid No Electricity Gravity Fed Water System

- Welcome to our first video! In this video we do some routine spring maintenance to our gravity fed water system. We have over a kilometer of poly pipe with 60 meters of head pressure that runs from a creek all the way to our property. Due to freezing temps in the fall, we had to inspect the line and reconnect some of the connections that came apart. We also installed an IBC tank to ensure the water quality is good, previously the water was being stored in our neighbors metal tank. Follow along as we come up with some unique solutions to our solar set up and prepare to build a house.

This is where I started watching your channel! Have never missed an episode! My how you two have grown together… Congratulations
Just came across your channel, look forward to watching all your videos. I don't chat much but do give out a lot of ❤❤.my hubby was just told he had bladder cancer it has been hard but watching all the videos has help me get through the hard aches of seeing him go through all this mess He was a master carpenter and would love to be able to do this again one day.AND HE WILL DO JUST THAT. 😊Thank you for the journey I'm fixing to take with y'all.
It's nice that you have a water source and each other.
We are grateful :)
@@ThisOffGridLife I subscribed to your channel. Maybe you could subscribe to mine. ? We have about the same amount of subscribers. Cheers
I was thinking the same thing!
I’m new here and I’m looking forward to watching the videos!
Hopefully I can do this on my own.🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
@@susana5052 It's way harder on your own. You can't synergize with yourself. I know because I'm alone and have to do it all myself. Good luck to you. Cheers
Unsure as to how long I’ve been watching but remember this and can’t believe it’s 3 years when I first subscribed I watched all that had been released to get up to speed on your journey one of the best decisions I made as you two are brilliant nice to watch it again you guys looked like teenagers 😘
I been watching for a few months now and just subscribed today I would like to go back and start from the beginning as I only found you a few months ago. I really enjoy the videos and you both are so down to earth people and really hard workers. I love all the animals and will continue to watch.
I love BC. Lived there a bit. Glad to meet more fellow canadians on the Tube. Saw you on the facebook group.
Sheesh, I normally go back and watch the earliest videos on the channels I follow then watch the channel evolve...haven't done that yet with y'all, until now! :)
So embarrassing 😆
@@ThisOffGridLife C'mon! No it wasnt ;)
Hey guys, I just discovered your channel, and it’s going to be fun watching!! I’m currently living in a van but plan on expanding with property soon. Hopefully I can learn from you what works and what doesn’t before hand. Keep on living a dream and dreaming to live!
So excited for you both. My dream has been able to live off grid. Not sure if that’s possible now. I lost my husband in 2017 so that changed a lot of things.
12/9/2022 found your channel and started watching the videos!
Hey Hubby and I just found you, always great finding fellow Canadians. We are in Ontario.
Hey y'all. I'm friends with Debbie. I saw this and I'm excited to see your journey
Hey guys I am new here ... This has always been a dream of mine so it's really cool to see you guys working on this consistently and being so successful. I know there are a lot of ups and downs and I hope I learn enough from you guys. All the best and I wish y'all all the happiness.

Living off the grid is so rewarding
A lot of work but so rewarding My 3 kids and me live in Maine in the summers off grid in a camper and love it ❕❕❕❕
But now we’re actually building a camp 20x20 for use to stay in the winter months as well We can wait
Anyways keep the great videos coming
That is awesome!
New here. Looking forward to seeing the progress, etc. Will be catching up to current events. Cute goats!
Nice work! Sounds like some busy days ahead :)
Good job
Way to go guys!
Well I'm not an off-grid kind of gal but your property is amazing !!
New subscriber....great property and look forward to more videos
Hey Guys, having fun there. I recommend you get some decent filming gear and learn how to use it. Good luck with this youtube thing.
Thanks. Would love recommendations on gear you use. Have been doing a lot of research but it's always nice to hear what others use.
🤔 I think it looks and sounds great 👍
@@ThisOffGridLife Hey thanks to Nicole for bringing me back here, totally forgot to reply. I use 3 cameras; a) Canon T5I DSLR is my main camera and it's the bottom of the barrel for entry level cameras for doing youtube videos. I want something much better. But you need a camera like that for all it's versatility. b) Gopro Hero 7 takes amazing video and its stabilization is killer. It's what I use for a point-and-click camera, for a lot of roaming b-roll, and for hikes and what not. I always take my gopro everywhere. c) DJI Mavic Pro for drone type shots. I consider each of these essential to my videos. Also I have things like: shotgun mic for the dslr, 4 different tripods, including a joby for the gopro, 70-200mm zoom lens for close ups on wildlife. And then things like spare batteries, spare memory cards, etc. The next thing I upgrade will be my DSLR. Looking at maybe Canon 6D or Sony A7. Expensive stuff, but worth it. But good to start out on an entry level camera until you've learned how to get the most of it. Hope that helps!
Welcome to youtube.
nice work!!!
Hello. I am a new subscriber and just watching your old videos. I am looking to buy some property and was wondering how much to get. How many acres do you guys own and do you think it is too much or not enough?
The more the better! We now have 10 acres
yaaaaa! Pressure!
Started watching your build videos and I was wondering how big is your property? I’m waiting to close on 17.9 acres in a few weeks.
5 acres, congrats on the land!!
I love your videos and please keep making of them. I hope you will forgive me, but I must comment on something that bothers about your videos: It's hard to listen to them. I do not know why you are playing such loud background music. It's so annoying. Every time the background music is playing, I have to turn down the volume and every time you talk I have to turn up the volume, so annoying. I suggest you weaken the background music at least 60%. If you do, the viewing experience will significantly improved.
Thanks for the input. Have you noticed that in our newer videos as well? I know in the older ones, we were brand new to editing and I think we have improved since then. I will keep a keen ear from now on.
exact same thing with me techno shit pumped loud. thank you
how do you get pressure from the creek? keeps me awake at night.
In this video it's all gravity fed. But we are working on a new set up with a solar pump so keep an eye out for that video soon.
I dont usually watch off grid-homestead videos. There is always a pattern of the nice guy living with the hot chick on the bitchy side. They eventually ask for tools and money trying to make people sorry for their hard work. Eventually they sell the property and move on. They also sponsor equipment to get free stuff. Most of them have money in the bank. I look at it as a scam. you two are different. Plus you wife is cute in a good way not hot, just charming. So this time I subscribed. Best wishes from France.
@@bernardmauge6628I noticed that too! It’s easy to do stuff when you have a full bank account.
Best wishes from California!
PS I did a little traveling when I was able and I loved France. I really liked the areas always from the city. France is a beautiful country.❤
Are you on the West Coast?
👍
Hey there, Curious as to what part of BC you are in. I've been off grid just outside of Victoria for four years now.
We are in the west kootenays!
902nd!
Seems like ages ago
Aaaaaaarg! That music!!!!!!!! 🙄
He looks like he listens to yoko ono
i do. you know i do!
