Hi, Heather here... if you want to find similar camisoles, shoes with kitten heels or other items mentioned they're at my blog at www.awesomeover50.com/new-life-for-old-clothes/ (just scroll down on the page for links) Enjoy!
C'mon Heather! Remember who you are: a former Model who is still kick'n/ and knock in 'em dead whose expertise in Modeling should be celebrated! We don't need all the snobby Christie Brinkxxly's in retirement- we are lucky to have you as an example of a girl who didn't lose her head back then and has become a leader in this era of rejuvenation both physically & mentally! You exhibit a playful attitude still at work and showing what we can do while budgeting! My favorite top revamped is the first one( the shimmery lime green tied in front but you also showed us "how it's done" with the navy one too! Thanks to "Hurricane" for the mention of the new Channel!
Wow, your comment just made my day Anita!!! YES I want to lead this rejuvenation both physically & mentally for mature woman. I also want to keep it real and be amongst all the women in spirit as we rock this world together!!
All your ideas are great. You have a great sense of taste that would help anybody look timeless, a flare maybe. I really enjoyed your segment today, right up my alley. Thanks for making over fifty look invincible. 😁
Great to see you encouraging people to use what they have by bringing out the creativity in them! You can also use clip-on earrings to jazz up shoes--- :)
Fished a cold shoulder maxi out of the second hand bag, converted it to a much needed lounge-around- at-home house gown... love its new purpose! Thank you, Heather! Also doing the knot thing to some older, slouchy tees! 😘
Great styling, Heather. I loved what you did with the scarf, the bracelets, cutting the shirts up, and the knotting. You certainly gave everything a fresher and more wearable look. Thank you very much, Heather, and Bill, and hugs to sweet little Hurricane. XOXO
I'm wearing one of the cut up tops as I'm typing this. I am a creative anyway but I'm so happy that people like you found it interesting. Will give Hurricane a cuddle for you!
Fantastic video! I picked up some great ideas.I learned another ruching tip that you could use for the second shirt, on utube. You take a small thin hair elastic and you grab a small amount of fabric from the INSIDE of your garment and wrap the band like a very small fabric ponytail. Because it's inside you don't see what's making the magic happen. It's fun to play with different areas.I do this with sundresses too
Love these ideas. I am short so I have had to learn to tailor my own clothing items. By watching videos like these, I get ideas on how to update items I have had in my closet for years and haven't warn. You are right, its rewarding to see something look better and great on you! My favorite is turning relaxed fit pants and jeans into skinny legged pants and jeans. More figure flattering and on trend. Thank you for sharing. 😊👍
Hi heather, i just purchased a second hand sewing machine and an over locker, wow wow i now have a new girly hobby, which is saying something for this Tom boy, love watching videos for inspiration as well as some lessons, I don’t think you can ever get tired of ‘upcycling’ great fun and saves a small fortune, I’ve worked out my ‘signature style’ now so i love hunting out materials etc from op shops , markets etc cool keep up the good work!
Good tips! I agree that camisoles are a lifesaver with sheer or low-cut tops! As you ppinted out, I have found that playing around with the hemline of tops really makes a difference. Knotting them as you did or doing a front tuck really transforms the look. If actual tucking doesn't work with the pants I'm wearing, I will pin the front of the shirt to look like a front tuck. Much more flattering than a straight hemline on me!
Hi sweet Heather, old, but a favorite. Take a clip on earring, and slide it over the top edge of a shoe. It makes a perfect embellishment. I have a pair from my mom that I do this with when ever I need to dress up my flats or pumps.
Thanks so much for sharing that tip Kendra. In case you're interested I did a video on 20 different ways to wear a scarf if your interested , here is the video ruclips.net/video/TPLKpcUccBM/видео.html
What a fun channel! Thank you for the inspiration! My favorite tips are to wear older things in new ways ( like this video), keep informed of new styles and add some of them in a small way, and the rule of one special or statement item. I’m looking forward to seeing what else you come up with!
I have a pair of clips for my shoes that my Mum gave me, they were hers when she was 18, so that was in 1952, they are blue sparkly and look great on my back shoes
Growing up with hand me downs I was definitely not fashionable. But the older I get I want to be more stylish. I like your channel. Because it's classy and things I can work with. ❤
Love your presentation.....you seem to be like a bubbling brook in the sunshine...I can almost feel the sparkling brilliance...so uplifting of spirits... Thanks for sharing..💖💝
Because of your brilliant ideas, that’s it i am going to do my wardrobe right now, thank you, i dit not know what to do tonight until i saw your video. Have a nice week-end!! thank you so much for your ideas.

Hi Heather ! What great ideas on recycling some of our clothes we just can’t part with . I’m looking for my scissors right now and I like that they are all no sew ideas because I am a terrible sewer . Have a wonderful week ~Diane
Hey Heather I'm sooooooo very happy to see you on my feed this morning.... I certainly do the same with my bits and pieces, cut a V-shaped on high neck etc etc and love them again... Have soooo many scarfs and only wear ten percent of them, but will try this.. Have a great weekend paula in the UK x

So many great tips and a fun watch! I was thinking about the white t shirt you put the knot in that looked so nice but I wonder if there was another way to hold it besides just a knot. Something a bit decorative. I don't know, maybe a hair tie with a little decoration on it. It's just a thought. Thanks.💙
That's so funny! My daughter (who's 29) watched my video and said she just tied an old top for work as I showed in the video and loved it! So glad to help Karen!
Thank You and welcome! I'm so glad you're here Marion and hope you stay safe with those horrible wildfires going on in your wonderful country. Take care.
The black/white scarf was AWESOME. Any ideas for a lace cover-up robe for over bathing suit or at home? It's gorgeous but I HAVE NEVER WORN IT. How could I switch it around to wear as like the scarf or ???? Help I love it.
Wow this is such a great video😃 I've been waiting eagerly for this one & you didn't disappoint xx great ideas especially about the scarf❤ gonna go through my wardrobe tomorrow full of inspiration 😍 thank you xx

What a great post! I'm a fan of tying knots which probably started with my love of silk scarves years and years ago. But since most of my clothing is not made of silk, the knots I want to tie in clothes can just be too big and bulky. I found a solution. Rubber bands! For example, the tops I want to knot on one side at the hem, but tying a knot doesn't really work because it pulls the shirt in too tight. You can make a little tail and wrap a rubber band around it like a ponytail. If you don't want the length of the tail hanging down, just tuck the end in the rubber band. Play around a little to adjust it so the rubber band isn't obvious or for different looks. Another trick you can do with a rubber band is create a design element that can take a top in and/or up an inch or more in the front or back. Keep in mind this will create an uneven hem, but I usually prefer that look anyway. You can easily make a point of circular ruching by pinching up a spot of fabric on the underside and securing with a rubber band. These can look nice at the center back, somewhere below the shoulder blades, or at the center front at the "cross your heart lift and separate" place (or somewhere between there and your waistline). This may create an uncomfortable or visible lump though. To take care of the lump, smooth it out by using a coin, small flat jar lid, bottle cap, or cut a circle from plastic (disposable food packaging) and make a "covered button" by inserting it inside the pinched up fabric. If you pinch the fabric from the public side, your covered button will show. If you pinch the fabric from the private side, it will look like some fancy sewing technique. You could use the fake covered button technique near the hem, at the side or off center, where you normally tie up the bottom of a t-shirt, perhaps creating a little ruffle below the "button" (or not). I have found the tiny rubber bands where you buy hair accessories to be perfect for these fake knot, fake ruching, or fake covered button techniques. Some are more stretchy than others, and easier to work with. I like the pack of all black ones I found at Walmart. So far I've not needed any other colors. The largest "button" I've made was about 2.5 inches (65 millimeters) in diameter. Embellishing clothes with the help of rubber bands has been quite a fun and easy way to alter and create new looks with the clothing already hanging in my closet. No stitching or unstitching needed is a nice bonus too!
You know, a little half tuck to one side, or the front will give you a change without tying a knot in your clothes. Also, old clip earring can be used on shoes! It gives you a way to use your Mom's old jewelry. 💙
Awesime, I dislike shopping n so frugal cause I am 70 n very little $$$. So I make so many of my old clothes from drab to fad, n look stunning. I am Apple shaped n overweight, but scissors n a needle is Priceless..

I would shorten it if you can into a bolero top and have it handy to wear over spaghetti straps or a pretty sleeveless dresses or tops
Thanks
Oh, my goodness.
What great ideas! Thank you!
Could you use the clip on earrings?!
I think so, depending on the size and if they stay on

That's an awesome idea, thanks so much for sharing this!!
I just read more of your comment (sorry I missed it the first time) Wow, I will have to try some of these great ideas!!
You know, a little half tuck to one side, or the front will give you a change without tying a knot in your clothes.
Also, old clip earring can be used on shoes! It gives you a way to use your Mom's old jewelry. 💙
Both great ideas. Thanks for sharing!

I love the scrarf but can't work out how you tied it. Lovely ideas.
Here's a video on many ways to tie a scarf. Scarves extend our wardrobe and I hope you find the ideas helpful ruclips.net/video/TPLKpcUccBM/видео.html
These are great tricks! Could you show us how you did your hair in this video? I would love to try it.
