- Pride Transport is in the spotlight today. Many of you astute viewers have written in about Pride Transport and how they treat drivers very good. I agree. The reviews of Pride Trucking are very good. In this Pride Transport Review I give the good and the bad of the place and I talk about Pride Transport training, Pride Transport trucks, the Pride Transport Pet Policy and some about those 13 speed Pride Transport Trucks. Do they even have any left? I bet they are hard to get. You do not need experience at Pride Transport but you do need a CDL license to get hired. They do not provide CDL Training. Pride Transport has things like paid holidays, guaranteed detention pay and a new mattress in the trucks. Also, no slip seating the sleeper trucks. I like that. What I can't get over is the fact that in phase 2 of training you are team trained as they call it. This is where the trainer is sleeping while you are driving. I think this should not be allowed by anyone and it should be outlawed by the FMCSA. No one would allow this in any other industry but it is getting common in the trucking industry. I am also not a fan of optimized idle. I really didn't know anyone used this anymore but here we are. The truck stops and starts its engine while you are sleeping to maintain the temperature. It is annoying to you and very annoying to your neighbors who are also trying to get some sleep. No driver facing cameras is a plus. There is no listed guaranteed weekly pay and I think that is becoming a must today with the sitting you could be doing. Some companies say they average more than a minimum and so I say pay a minimum and you will hardly ever have to actually pay it. The more experience you have I think this is better than the less experience you have. That team training is no way to train new drivers.

I work for Pride. All of the new trucks have APUs. And if you don't feel safe to drive then you can park, they don't pressure you at all. I don't ever chain and they even rechecked my delivery a couple of times because I told them I was parking. One time was even when I was just 30 mins out. I average 3000-3200 miles a week and also the benefits are really great. I have been driving for 15 years and this is by far the best company I have worked for.
What areas do you run???
@@Pookie_Poo843 I Run OTR but we don't run the East Coast except for Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Jersey
@@slinkystring1594 I may have to come back out on the road because of this coronavirus. I'm trying to find me a reefer company that stays east of the rockies
Are you still there?
Pride actually has what they call
.. Super single. There is, was no way I'd ever, ever, do teaming and try to sleep while someone else drives. You, my wife, wouldn't matter. Super single, you drive the truck up to the 14 hour mark. And then that baby shuts down for the mandatory 10 hours. My trainer had never done that before. He fell in love with it! We always did a minimum of 800 miles a day. For the 16 months I was there, they were amazing to me!
I love your work putting pressure on these trucking companies by effectively summarizing in layman’s terms what really one can expect.
good review of pride I like the one you did on Schuster reefer loads of ice cream if you ever get a chance squeeze in a review of the custom companies north lake Illinois
Another super fantastic company review.😚😚
Aside from the couple of things you mentioned, team training, physical endurance testing, and no guaranteed pay by the week, they sound like a good company to drive for. Good review, Mark.
XPO also does that agility test after the DOT physical. Also they have driver facing cameras, which is not good for the industry.
I couldn't stand XPO. They don't give a damn about their employees. They're #1 goal..."Make Money". It's #1 in their official mission statement!!
@@Tony-5000 wow I’m hearing a lot about Xpo And most people seem to say the same thing. Money money money never mind the driver. And they have cameras facing you. Wow this is turning me off.
Is everyone afraid theyre gonna get caught doing something bad? Hahahaahahaha
Eg: eating their boogers
Thanks for the info. I'm leaving for Utah on Sunday.
You should do one on p and s transportation. The main fleet, not the others bought and operated under other authorities. My honest opinion was they were top notch for the 2yrs I drove for them, and had I stayed in the industry I would have probably retired there. Wichita falls, tx terminal. 27% line haul, and I saw the actual invoices more than a few times, and they were honest to the penny. No forced dispatch, and ANY issue I had with equipment, breakdown handled immediately, no hour hold wait, dispatcher always answered my phone call, terminal manager Jerry always met with me...damn good folk y'all. Home every weekend, home every holiday. 70k a yr and was called by my name every time. Top notch, and I've waisted my life driving for a few if the big names! Just trying to help drivers out there see some light in an industry of indentured servitude!
Awesome job Mark 👍
I'll check them out thanks
Thank you
You're Welcome.
Maybe they were listening to "look what the cat dragged in," decided it was a horrible song and said "no cats!"
This gem of a video popped up on my recommended feed when I went to go turn on my music. I've never watched this video before, good stuff.
I miss pride so much but with college I need home daily
You haven’t lost your touch ✌️
Optimized idle hack... handwarmers... had an 05 Columbia with that.... system.. someone.. not me, of course, taped handwarmers to the thermostat during the summer to keep the truck cool.. icepacks in the winter..
Brilliant!
Can you please do Colonial Freight Systems ? Thanks
So glad you name the company in question unlike Scooby Doo
A railroad or airline would never allow that. Imagine an locomotive engineer in training and the trainer is in the car being the Locomotive sleeping or an airline pilot sitting in first class sleeping while the pilot in training is done whatever he wants?
I'm in a 2019 Freightliner with electric APU. And it's still called optimized idle even though the truck doesn't Start all the time.
Nice, EPU. That will save on the Opti-Idle headaches.
@@gregl211 that is unless you like to play a PS4 or cook in your what's a of Foreman grill or an air fryer, it's wise to start the truck while you're doing that stuff that way your batteries don't run low in the middle of the night. It also depends on the temperature if you're in 110 degrees Heat running AC your engines going to kick on..
Cook in a truck? No thank you.
I do not like agility tests either. Unfortunately several companies do them. My question is. Are the agility tests geared to see if you can carry and hang snow chains? Knowing Utah gets snow during winter time.
..that, and to see if u can even walk 300-400 yards..(..a football field), why..? to park & check-in at shipper & consignee..you can't (often) park "right in front of the door" not only in reefer-hauling, but box trailer too..
Does anybody here miss crap company of the week? That was truly a truckers safety net.
Same thing with McElroy truck lines. The pay could be better for experience drivers but they treat me well.
Worked for PRIDE TRANSPORT twice going on my third time (first was my father passing away and the second was i came back too soon after his passing) NOW I ONLY DO SEASONAL (nicer weather only)
JEFF ENGLAND AND HIS SON JAY AND. THEIR DAUGHTER GETS TO KNOW EVERYONE BY NAME. They’re very nice and personable.

Im a driver for pride transport, they treat me well. Ive been driving for 2 years and within that time frame only two companies have treated me this well. Pride and CFI, i dont need to beg for layover pay or detention pay it just shows up that same morning. I get on average 1000 miles per load its awesome here.
That's the thing everyone has said. The treatment there is great. Well worth calling.

How is driving while the trainer sleeps, “training?” or sleeping while the trainer drives??
Thsts exactly how medical training (residency) worked - we ran the place at night and the attendibgs were on call for emergencies. 30 min away at home haha.

I've been retired for 10 years but when I was there they had you must put chains on no matter what to get to a store if they'll let you through you need to put chains on you will put them on that's the problem I have with them I won't drive any trouble but I'll put chains on to get out of it

not great from some of their drivers ive talked to
One thing about Pride is the England family owns the company Jay England is CEO so basically still CR England owned. So I would go there if I were anyone that does not want to work for them.
I drive for pride. Couple points. #1 20% match 401k, the whole reason I'm here. 65mph govern with 30min of 68 "pedal pass". Mostly freightliners, maybe 15% Pete 579. Only the old guys get 13s, the rest are 9 speeds. I've got one and you're not getting it, even though it sucks. $5000 sign on bonus, paid $200 a month for a year. 41 cents to start, but short runs go up to 55. They have a point system for raises, I have no idea how it works, just magic i guess. Most trucks have APU & bunk heater. Ive got one of the few without an APU, I like my under bunk storage. No idea what's up with the cats, Rachel couldn't explain it to me. PFJ fueling, comdata card, they have recommendation for fuel route, but I've gotten fuel at Pacific Pride, Loves or CFN when I felt I needed it. PrePass (lots of green lights),EZpass & California FastTrak if you run out there. They will pay for parking in cases where it's warranted (late pickups), but they've never questioned me. I've never gotten layover pay, because I never stop. I'm always running on recaps, but I guess they'll let you do 34s if that's your thing.
Overall, it's a pretty decent company. Most other guys just gush about how great they are, but I don't see it. It's better than average. My only complaint is the shop. They are over worked and my experience has been hit or miss. Your best bet is to "discover" problems out of state and take it to a dealer.
If anyone had questions, send 'em. Thanks Mark for doing this video!
You're welcome. This is what Pride says about APUs: "DO YOU HAVE APU'S?
No, we use 2000 watt power inverters to run your your electronics. All the trucks have optimized idle to keep the cab temperature comfortable. "
@@TruckingAnswers inverters are optional, you can only install 2 or 3 brands. They will sell it to you, for $500, $50 a paycheck. I'd say 80% of the trucks have APUs now. New Cascadias have a really weird Opti-Idle system, where it restricts due to ambient temperature. The pre-2018 control was much better.
So your always moving and what state do u live in?
You still there?
Sounds a hell of a lot better than the sister company CRE
.55 cpm isn't bad at all if your right out of school. And give me one of those 13 speeds!!!!
I don't think I caught it. But did you say how long the phase two team training is?
200 hours, total minimum training is 300 total hours. Training generally takes six weeks but that depends on the trainer who can extend that up to 3 months for drivers who don’t meet the standards.
I went thru the team training with Werner and it didn't matter to me at all.. I got my experience and left
Review Fred Meyer trucking please. Clackamas, Oregon
That's croger dedicated logistics. Not a fred Myers company

I had Danny Herman pass me last night then pulled away...then slowed down green light went to nightrider red....had cruise on truck mine started to slow me down SAFETY ..still triggered camera...mark like high beams off road lights....ive noticed people pass they almost take my hood off......im almost done driving btw I have driver facing forward and me camera
My trainer slept most of the time at stevens yeah it's definitely a thing
I’m with you on everything but the team driving issue. A qualified driver doesn’t need someone babysitting them more than the first 100hrs. Team driving gives the new driver some autonomy, opportunity to drive on their own, make their own decisions (for new drivers this is often the first time that’s ever happened in a truck) while still having a small safety net. Yes, Pride may make a little more but this is a far more efficient and safety minded way then to have new drivers sit in front of a simulator like many other companies.
I'm a cat owner, too. Werner wanted me to declaw my cat or get caps on her claws before I'd be allowed to bring her in the truck. I drive for Western Express now, who doesn't have the same rules, but would still allow my cat in the truck. As for optimized idle, I don't use it. I just use the bunk heater.
Declawing a cat is being outlawed in some state, finally. It is animal abuse.
@@TruckingAnswers Exactly! I refuse to declaw my cat for that same reason. She's 16 years old.

Shoot count me in. I'm 62 and this company sounds like a good fit for me!!!!
That's right! Let the meow meows in!
I respect that Pride hates cats.

Are the good reviews from those who drove for C R England, CRST, and Swift?
probably
You right but most of the 13 speed trucks are Peterbilt
Mark 5 minutes on a treadmill no lies at the physical
As far as cats, I would say it's probably harder to get that musky spray scent out of something if a cat sprays
Clean boxes=no spray.
I think they mean "No killer cats"!! 😅😂🤣 CFI kills Pride! I like CFI so much. They treat me like gold, and have all these bonuses, and cover showers and every penny you may need to keep the truck running legally. They thank you if you must shut down for weather, or any other reason! I love my DM, and she busts her butt to keep me happy. I am a driver and Finisher (trainer). I do wish I made a few more cpm, but other than that...CFI👍👍🚛🚛👍👍🚛🚛👍👍🚛🚛👍👍
Worth it for the treatment. A few cents somewhere else is not worth moving. A good dispatch can really keep a driver and a bad one can make them quit.
@@TruckingAnswers Amen👍 And my cat can beat their dog any day of the week!!🐈
@@gino_Utah Hit your fuel stops. If you can't, call and have them give you an updated fuel route. Honestly, idling has never hurt my mpg! Students hurt my mpg!!
@@gino_Utah Also, if you have time built in... Slow down to 62mph. It makes a huge difference.👍🚛
If only CFI increased their pay from 48 cents .. the pay is low
I wasn't getting the miles at Pride. They won't pay your anniversary pay if you don't average 10 k miles every month. They didn't pay us orientation pay when I work with Pride back 2013 and 2014. We did had pet policy when I drove back then. Megan was the worst dispatcher. I ask for a new dispatcher. Pride declined. I moved on and found a better paying job and more home time. I wasn't happy making .35 a mile when I left. They only pay 1 cent increase every year. You have to be out at least 3 to 4 weeks

Opti idle is not bad if you are trying keep from freezing to death,no cats fine I don like cats,The deal breaker is refrigerated freight. Unless you like spending most your time in a food warehouse you should probably stay away from any company that runs reefers even if you don't have to lump that stuff unless that company is paying extremely well.
I loved it. Longest loads. I had a 3100 mile load and would regularly go coast to coast. They do load/unload 24 hrs a day.
I’ve talked with Pride drivers. They run dry in their reefers too. Like most TC companies. That tells me they keep you moving if if they don’t have a TC load.
They have satellite radio and DTV!? Guess what tho you'll have to pay to use it! That's the catch. My truck comes with xm radio but I have to create an account to use it. No company is gonna have that many accounts with those providers.
you pay for it by the low cpm you get
Pride does seem to be a decent company except not having a APU
I work for a percentage of the load. Not by mile.
Optimized idle would be a deal breaker for me.... Too many cities, towns etc enacting ordinances against idling... Sure most times you get away with it but the one time you don't will ruin your week/paycheck.
It's time companies face it and get apus on their trucks or perhaps getting law makers to make it mandatory (I would say at least for carriers with 100+ trucks) and while we are on it fridges and inverters too as mandatory equipment. So the driver can be well rested eat healthy etc... That would probably help more in making the roads safer than mandatory governors etc 😂
Even Ca allows opti idle. I pranked an idle cop at the TA Ontario a few years ago. I saw him heading to my truck and I just used my foot to turn the key! He was watching my hands as I was reading a book and just turned and walked into the center of the isle to listen for another truck idling.
I did as a real trucker and turned on my little 24 watt CB and let the stop know that he was walking the lot.
I got a lot of thanks for that.
@@rolloverriderpgr I wouldn't bet on every town cop knows what opti idle is... Just saw a few weeks ago brand new "no idle" signs in Dallas that even say year round no more than 5min idle.... Trying to imagine 100+ degrees in the summer and no idle...
And it's just because drivers allow companies to go the cheap route
@@uwekirschling9757 oh they know and I never had an opti idle go more than 5 minutes as most companies set the timer to 5 max.
And if a driver is given o e all it takes is a prepaid lawyer to get that taken care of.
But in this day and age a quick google search on the town and just call the DA and tell him/her the cop screwed up and should be trained on what opti idle is. The DA will drop tbe charges and your company wi also be on tbe phone with the office.
The trucks I had all had that pretty oval sticker on it.
And every town with no idle laws pretty much train their officers on what truck can and can not be ticketed as they dont want those tickets being brought up wasting their time.
I had a guy call in on me and when the cops showed up they saw the sticker and then went to the guys door and pointed it out to him and left.
No problem when that sticker is out and if rookie does try you point it out to him and tell him to call his watch commander. Even Long Island cops know all about them and generators.
Blue Sky's and Safe Journeys!
@@rolloverriderpgr like I said I would not bet on it especially if you get into some of the backwoods areas where the town or county is low on cash.... It also depends on if they even recognize opti idle an exemption and I'm no law expert nor getting paid for knowing every city town or county law.
@@uwekirschling9757 no idle laws have been around for years even back water BFEs know what option idle is as it's not going to be anything new to the DAs office. They'll more than likely notify the company name on the ticket or the driver and tell them it's a rookie mistake. Or itll get dropped as I said with a phone call.
That worries me, when a company uses satellite tv as a selling point. Are they saying, you're gonna do a lot of sitting, you should at least be able to watch tv.
If they were from Callie I’d wonder 😂

I'm guessing the thing about cats is the ammonia smell of the pee that is almost impossible to get out of a house car truck or whatever
I guess. None of that in my house. 1 cat, 3 clean boxes.
Some drivers are cleaner than others and there will definitely be drivers that would give an animal free reign in their truck. I have had the unfortunate privilege of taking on a truck after the driver before me had an animal in it and it was nothing nice about it. It still smelled
@@leir2005 I've gotten in behind dogs and they can be just as bad especially when let in wet and pooch hasnt been washed in a while.
If a cat owner can handle that skank then hes a POS Human!
There are these big trash cans or dumpsters at every truck stop so there can be no excuses as to why a cat owner isnt changing the box at least once a week! But THERE ARE a shitpot of lazy nasty drivers out there! We've all had the misfortune of getting in a truck behind a pos human that lives like a pig and sometimes that's an insult to pigs!
Baking soda in the box and use the double duty cat litter and change it every week and there is no smell.
Now they might worry about a cat scratching a seat but If kitty is declawed that nixes that problem.

I'm guessing they pay you $0.55 per mile on a trip that is less than 500 miles and as drivers we all want our average length of haul to be greater than 1000 miles. So long haul they probably pay in the 40s, right?
