My son is autistic, 13 years old, and talking is often difficult for him, sometimes he gets stuck on the first letter in a word and stammers so much that he never even gets the word out before he just stops trying.
He doesnt have the same level of musical ability this kid has, but there is something about music that makes things easier. When my son sings a song, he doesn't stammer, he pronounces words better, it somehow takes away those difficulties he has when he's just speaking, I dont understand why but it's very interesting to me.
Years ago I was acquainted with a guy who was a chorus member in the Metropolitan Opera Co. in NYC, had an amazing voice, was in operas and gave solo recitals. I'd heard him sing first, before I met him and actually had a conversation with him. He had one of the most severe stammers I've ever heard, it was very difficult for him to talk, his words came out so unevenly, he'd get stuck on a letter and then suddenly burst out loudly with the rest of the word. It really struck me how what his speaking voice did was totally out of his control. He was an older guy, I'm sure he must've seen specialists and tried therapies to fix his stammer, but they clearly hadn't worked.
The only cure for him was music, it's almost like magic the way singing can give him, and lots of other people who struggle to communicate, the ability to take back the vocal control, and ability to express themselves, that they lose in everyday life.
Music is magic, that's all there is to it.🙂

Holly Odell I remember watching the Mel Tillie show as a young adult. If you remember he was a country western singer. But he had a stutter except when he sang. In his monologue if he got stuck on a word he would sing to get past it. Mel performed in movies also.

There was a young lady on AGT who sang and played the guitar and she studdered severely but as soon as she began to sing, the studdering completely disappeared. It's amazing how much music changes us in our brains and does amazing things.

5:41 personally I disagree with that (edit) anyone who has an amazing voice has been doing it for years...I know someone who's like 15 years old who can sing quite well however even she was singing since she was a little kid you just don't notice slight changes...its like growing older you barely notice until you look back at old photos...if you recorded yourself singing right now and then practice for an hour everyday for 10 year's straight and record yourself then, there will be a dramatic difference I can promise you that...the only reason people don't have good singing voices is not because they weren't destined to do it...its cuz no one is willing to practice that much...anyway hope this inspires someone to do great things!
