Very enjoyable and informative channel. Hopefully they can fix the bridge in time for the festival.
It is hoped to get the bridge fixed by the end of April, but ....
Very interesting to see onboard Kathleen & May. She, and the smaller Irene, passed Portishead regularly when I was at school, (50s, 60s), still trading with cargos of animal feed from Avonmouth docks to ports down the Bristol Channel.
Thanks Richard, I once sailed on her out of Gloucester bound for Bideford in 2007. Fascinating experience.
Also notice you were on the tankers. Of course they didn't take a pilot, but I used to unofficially 'help out' on the Alaska at Portishead Dock. I was a friend of the Sharpness pilot apprentices there, and one was son of Regent Jane's Captain.
All very interesting Richard. Yes I was with Harkers from the early 1960s, I too remember the K&A trading down the channel.
Hi Chris Great Vid as All ways And You Give So Much Info Of Were You Our Love Seeing Your Vids
Thanks John, it's always a pleasure making them, especially now that I have a drone, pity the wind has been so strong for too long!
I keep meaning to call in to the museum on my way down to Bude but again I missed it. 😀
Well worth a visit
Great to see what's in the docks these days. However, I was rather distracted by your excellent choice of music behind your commentary. What is it?
Many thanks. The music: 1. Commence Orbit by Christoffer Moe Ditlevsen, Hanna Ekstrom and Anna Dager. 2. Le Chasseur et les Fugitifs by Ludvig Moulin. I subscribe to Epidemic Music where I source all my music.
Hi Chris. In the video you mentioned you worked on the tankers. Were they the ones that went down to Bridgwater, that looked more like submarines when loaded. I remember them from passing Clevedon
Hi John, that's the ones. Coming out of Swansea loaded in a northerly gale was interesting! we were buried by the sea. The reason I left was simple, I fell in love with a Bridgwater girl .....
What depth have they dredged the basin to?
Good question, not as far down as we used to dredge it, then to 16 feet, now .. a lot less I would think.
we walk there , my wife and i she in wheelchair me pushing ,if you see us say hi
I will, it must be a struggle with the chair and the hills!
