I love the sound of travelling back to 1984, I was 16 then, it's my birthday next Friday I'll be 56,wow where does the time go 😂, much love Michelle 🙏 💛 💚
I was 22, deep in love, however not as ready to marry as she. She had an older suitor lined up and dumped me after the Aerosmith concert at Philly that August.
How can this be 40 years ago? I am surprised at how much I enjoyed this. Our malls have closed. I thought they would last forever. I was 34. I still am, right?😮🎉
Wow in 1984 I was in the army I was 18,how time passes, it only seems it was yesterday, the 80s were such good years, how I wish I could go back in time, big shoulder pads, mullets, permed hair, Dallas and Miami vice 😊👍👍👍👍
I was 13 in 1984. I met Nik Kershaw in 1983 when I went to see him do a concert in my city. Myself and my best friend both got his autograph after the show
Thank you for another enchanting bedtime tale! As we bid farewell to the day, may your stories linger in our hearts and guide us to dreamland. Wishing you all a night filled with sweet dreams and a morning greeted by the promise of a new day. 🌃
This one is gonna be one fun ride! I love the 80s era, (even though I was born in the 90s). Thanks Michelle for this travel-back-in-time 80s adventure for us to dream.❤❤❤❤
Yes! Strawberry shortcake doll smell🍓🍓 I was 9 yrs old in '84 I love remembering the time before I was a teenager. Simple and sweet. Thank you Michelle for this❤
Wasn't that the best? I'm not gonna lie. I still have my Strawberry Shortcake hairbrush and while none of the decal remains, it smelled like strawberry shortcake until about five years ago. What on earth were they using? 😂
I was 5 years old this is my favorite favorite bedtime stories especially when you talk about grandma's going to the shopping my nanny use to take me to the mall I would come home with a cabbage patch doll I love strawberry short cake when I start to feel my anxiety coming on or stressed out I will listen to it takes me back to my childhood thank you Michelle for doing this story it's my favorite

I love that one too-- it was inspired by snow days at my grandmother's house in the 80s. She was the best at taking advantage of every cozy moment and snowy possiblity.
This video is not only a perfect way to end a long day but also an exciting journey through time, taking you back to the peaceful and sweet moments of the past. Wishing everyone a good night's sleep and sweet dreams. ❣❣❣❣
Michelle, you nailed this one! 1984 was my year…getting married, buying a first house, all of that. It also meant shopping at the mall, having block parties with the neighbors, and enjoying all of the cultural nuances of that time. Thanks for taking me back.
The summer of 84 was my last summer in my garden apartment we bought a house who’s completion was sept. It was an exciting happy time for me. I was never a mall rat or fan of them except when they were open air malls which had some charm. Malls have taken a beating between the pandemic and Amazon and the closure of some anchor department stores. They were good for senior mall walkers in winter or rainy days. Shag carpeting was past it’s prime from the 60’s and 70’s. And mid century homes really were from the older eras way before the 80’s. The popular decor of the 80’s was considered contemporary or modern and featured lots of pastel colors lots of rose and grey. The tvs used either rabbit ears or a whole house antenna on the roof and around mid eighties primitive cable service emerged using a box that featured movies and some retail sales we had one called hometco. Mustangs from 74 through early 90 were generation three most of them very small with crappy motors and much less sales then the first generation starting in 64. The generation 5 started by Ioccoca (spelled wrong I’m sure) was the beginning of the vaulted muscle car including the gt and Shelby to compete with dodge gm and mopar even amc. These were worth owning Regan had a landslide win and the mood of our country was quite a bit more civil then now. It had its challenges for sure including aids but without constant access to news we were less hysterical which was very sad for those with aids. Your story captures the basic environment very well with your own little rosey lens which I liked but of course my brain made a few turns because the food court was gross all purveyors were chain stores with fast food stuff even the pretzels were nowhere like nyc or ball game ones. In my neck of the woods if a teen girl even one of magnificent beauty laid across the hood of someone’s mustang or trans am they would have been pushed off! The perfume that the stores attacked you with wasn’t the old lady stuff it was the hot musky designer stuff my significant other wore white shoulders so the store smelled like her. It’s very hard to capture more recent years because the world was becoming more diverse and complex and we haven’t left too much glorified memories but our memory if we lived it is rich and much more stable and courteous then gleened from first glance. Thanks for the memories
My references were definitely influenced by upstate NY. All the homes in town had those wood panels still. Mirror-paneled walls, and an old gold plush rug. My grandmother even replaced hers with thicker piles mid-80s. I do recall how long it took for trends to influence towns just two hours north of NYC. My grandmother pushed the fashion on me- from clothes to asymmetrical haircuts and blue nail polish and let me say that those new trends weren’t received well as a five year old kid in a small town!
It was 40-years-ago tonight (8/7/84), I took Heather, my brother Slater and girlfriend to The Spectrum, Philadelphia, for Aerosmith’s “Back in the Saddle” concert; was my last date with Heather.
@@MichellesSanctuary Aerosmith’s was a 50-year rocky and gracious band relationship. Heather was engaged to Richard by Christmas, 1984 and married the following Dec., 1985. I suspect Richard died during Covid lockdown.
I’m sitting here watching the opening ceremony of the Olympics and thinking how much I would love to hear a story in France 🇫🇷 in the next couple of weeks!

I'd go back in a minute ❤
I think this way about my year of being 21-- I wish I wasn't so hard on myself or expecting everything was supposed to be perfect.
I was born in Australia 88, Most kids show in the 90's were 80's. We were a few seasons behind till streaming
It used to be so hard to find certain shows and songs and now we can access them in a click.
