My wife is not really into music…she’s a big Swiftie. Jokes aside, I took her to an Animals show and just as I had hoped: she was blown away. Her eyes never left the stage. Animals as Leaders go beyond mastery. Their music is almost supernatural.
@@Neorigg I'd say Matt's on par with goats like Ginger Baker, Stewart Copeland, Danny Carey, Neil Peart, Bruford, Cobham, Vinnie Colaiuta and Gavin Harrison. Some of them have stronger skills like composition, rudiments, ability to implement non-standard drum sounds, polyrhythmic aptness, groove etc, but imo no one definitively comes on absolute top compared to others.
@@Crite_Mike imo, matt has the compositional skills to write what he does, the technical ability to play the way he does and on top of that he puts so much energy in playing and can hit heavy without losing accuracy. As much as I love and know the capabilities of the drummers you listed, most of them don't come very close in terms of technique at least purely difficulty wise
You gotta check out Matt's playthroughs for gordian naught, monomyth and this very song on drumeo! Dude is built like a tank with the brain of an alien and the chops of a seasoned butcher.
This is progressive metal or technical metal. Extremely precise but doesn’t always have a hook or even a melody. Try Wave of Babies, one of their more accessible early tunes. Great reaction, glad you enjoyed it. And yes, Matt Garska is one of the premiers drummers today.
My favorite song from them is one of their shortest, New Eden. I ruined it for myself because I used to use it as my alarm, and now I get a little anxious every time I hear the opening.
Micro-Aggressions by them is awesome! Also, check out the bands Polyphia and Snarky Puppy if you think you might like instrument-only bands. Another “rhythm rock” band and a jazz-rock fusion type band. Both awesome!
"If metal sounded more like this". There are many pockets of metal similar to this! You may like Arch Echo. I'd recommend Color Wheel. Fantastic energy. Loving your videos man!
if you want to see something really impressive you HAVE to watch the new drum playthrough matt garstika released of this song, along with some of his other drum playthroughs
Great reaction bro 🤘 Your totally right, its different for the ear, complicated yet still groovy. Always up for some AaL. Definitely gotta check out The Woven Web, Wave of Babies & Tooth & Claw by them. And yes your DEFINITELY hearing polyrhythms lol. Alot of AaL is in 3/3/2-2/2/3 with an unresolved measure to add that syncopation you were mentioning.
So the debate about Djent being a genre or not, I believe, boils down to people who think of it as a genre vs a guitar playing technique. Some see it as a way to play the guitar while some see it as a style of music. I believe both can be true based on the bands identity.
There actually is a lot of metal that sounds similar to this, but I also recommend you to try listening to Rishloo, my personal fav is Freaks and Animals 😁
and with animals as leaders, EVERY ALBUM IS BETTER MORE CRAZIER MORE UNIQUE than the last. yes u heard polyrythms. this band is on on some beethoven wagner shit
@@kfizz I didn't mean the drummer was all over the place I meant the rest of those people but hey man it's the universal to each his own God bless you. None of my friends got my fascination with Sepultura👍

this band has most skilled 3 musicians in the world
Not THE most, but definitely one of the most skilled I'd say
@@Crite_Mike in my opinion Matt is the best drummer of all time and Tosin the best guitarist

Do more Animals as Leaders reactions!! They are my favorite band
Just started and I'm getting a Primus influence vibe
It’s called Djent by the rhythmic sound they make with guitars.

Matt Garstka is the greatest drummer of all time. You should react to his performance of their song red miso
It's my type of hippie music 😂 if that makes sense
React to Periphery they are all Progressive metal or Djent bands

Man I don't know what's up with my notifications
Oh I'm not hearing what you hear LOL I like some of the metal riffs. The drummers talented just too jumbled messy and all over the place for me
I’m a drummer I can follow it. But I saw them in 09. So been a fan ever since.
