Yes I know I am commenting on an old video that you did a while ago but I will tell you now watching your videos has inspired me to get more and more into RC planes. Now that I'm flying and actually creating liveries on an old extra 300 it's pretty cool I remember when I started from nothing and now I'm starting something thank you my friend I owe you one
Thanks for the video. Really appreciate you taking the time to share with the rest of us. Just got back into tabletop gaming after 20 years . I've been making my own terrain and want to spray them without eating through my foam like it has been. Cheers!
Just a minor correction in your and others beliefs about the spray paint. It's not the propellant that is eating the foam. It's the solvent that keeps the pigment liquid inside the can that is eating the foam. Chances are that both cans use the exact same propellant.
I’ve been searching for weeks with no luck. I find you on RUclips this morning showing Liquitex! Thank you!!!!! Not one other video showed Liquitex! Duh! Where have they been🤪
Interesting, I've been using the model master and testors rattle cans and it won't eat the depron either, I don't use any prep, have you tried or have issues? Krylon short cuts will also work straight on the foams.
I have 30-40 Cans of Model-Master myself and all but 3 of them don't eat foam. I've also Used Krylon Short Cuts but It Killed the Depron I painted. The best thing about this Paint is its 100% foam safe.
I used rustoleum gray primer on my EPO foam plane without a problem. It eats polystyrene foam that the plane was packed in but not the EPO foam the plane is made from.
Great video, I was always interested in the liquitex acrylic paint. I'm from the UK and wondered if you could answer 2 questions. If using the white acrylic liquitex colour is this semi opaque or would it completely cover a darker surface underneath? Would I first have to use the liquitex primer first then paint over as you didn't seem to require the primer in your videos? Second question... This is supposed to be water based paint which is why it takes longer to dry but also it does not contain the same harmful chemicals as say the Montana acrylic spray paint so is there still a need to use a mask?
Chris, I have a FreeWing A10 and I want to camo paint it. What do you suggest? Should I sand/prime/sand/paint it or what? I really don't want to screw up this beautiful plane.
Sure, you can always precoat with poly, etc. but people forget how much weight that adds. Not to mention that poly coat is similar to hot glue - it'll get sticky in high heat (aka SouthWest).
Do you need to put a protective coating after spraying Liquitex to protect damp conditions? Live in UK and can't get Minwax polycrylic spray but can get brush on liquid if needs it
Jeeze, all we need to see is the DEMO and the SIDE BY SIDE RESULTS. Folks would not be here if they didn't know the issues with 'regular' spray paints and foam.
Ques: could you use the Shellac or Minwax spray as a barrier on the foam to protect the foam from contact cement? The reason I ask is that I would like to skin foam wings with balsa and can't find a spray on contact cement that won't attack the foam. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks for more great info DD! Would you recommend this paint on an xps foam plane that I've just fiberglassed with z-poxy (epoxy) finishing resin? I suppose I'm safe to use an enamel paint now, but should I use this just to be safe? Thanks man
This is a really great commercial for liquitex. What's your commission? Where's your affiliate link/promo code?? I didn't see it in the description. XD
cool ! but the fact is that only after a few years you came to the fact that acrylic paint is water-based and will not damage polystyrene and other surfaces. Your prior paint is solvent based, it's a spray oil paint. I figured it out with my first model. anyway, I used the paint you advertise, I think that the KOBRA company is better, a greater selection of colors and a lower price. best regards and waiting for the next episode !!
Thx for the video I tried the paint and it looks great, but the frog tape still took some paint off.. How do you prepare a bare foam plane like EPO to get the paint to stick good? I didnt use undercoat, should I? I just put a few coats on, let it dry for a day then taped over lightly with the frog tape to put a darker color over it. when I pulled the tape off I saw a few spots of bare foam places.
Hi Steve, this can happen with all types of paint, try the yellow sensitive surface frog tape or Tamiya painters tape, I've found that it's the best painters tape on the Market bar-none.
LOL, Ha, No I'm busy selling my planes etc, but this stuff does work and is foam safe out-of-the-can some guys here complain its not but the film footage dosn't lie.
Rc DemonDriver...Thanks so much.I'm one that likes to paint my planes to make them my own, sort of speak, This will cut down a lot of time doing so..:)
Hey demon! I just wanted to let you know that one I appreciate the RC help you have given me through the videos you make. two I just realized that you subscribed to me and I am really happy about that. third I hope its not too much to ask but do you think you can give me a shoutout of my gaming channel in your video?
Yes but only if you add several coats of this paint, gas and glow fuel eats away at all paint. You can also add a clear paint sealer over the liquitex to help protect it from fuel.
@@F3HDemonDriver1 That's BS. You assume that everyone has a short attention span? If that were true people would be forever repeating themselves in movies, books, everywhere. Best to explain everything once, then recap at the end.
Good video, only thing I don’t get on A LOT of YT videos is all the repetition of comments, I mean it’s a video, if people are too stupid to get it they can rewind, if you cut out all the repetitive statements the video would be half as long.... not trying to be offensive, guess it’s from being in the military too long, say it clear, say it once and move on. I guess it’s because it’s a waste of valuable time for useful information vs saying the same ting 4 times back to back with information that is useless when the information has already. Been said once.... again, it’s a video, rewind
I think you talk too much for such simple things. It downgrades the content quality. Just focus on what you really do. Watch the video again and you will know what I mean. - Just giving advice!

I stand corrected Roy, thankyou!
I really needed this and I learned something today and at the same time had fun. Your enthusiasm is contagious. ;o)
Nice video Chris.. Always good to know what's out there.. I learned the hard way when it came to spray paints.. Thanks..
Your very welcome Pat!
Thanks for the tip. I need to change the bottom half of a wing to make it easier to distinguish and needed a good product.
The Liquitex paint looks like it's going to be a real time and money-saver. Glad to see something like this come along. Thanks for the vid, DD.
You're very welcome Sir! This paint cuts out 2 major steps and makes life easier for scratch builders.
Simple fix....Just brush or airbrush some water based polyurethane like Minwax before painting and you can use almost and type of paint.
I’ve been searching for weeks with no luck. I find you on RUclips this morning showing Liquitex! Thank you!!!!! Not one other video showed Liquitex!
Duh! Where have they been🤪
Only took a week of research to find you...😎Thanks, Sir.
thanks for the great tip demon I've been thinking about repainting my tundra and now I can do it without the fear of melting the foam. your the man
Your Very Welcome Roy!
Thanks for taking the time to share awesome info! You da man!
My Pleasure Sir!
I do love this paint. The colours available are amazing.
It's good stuff indeed Sir! And it's 100% foam-safe from what I've seen.
Interesting, I've been using the model master and testors rattle cans and it won't eat the depron either, I don't use any prep, have you tried or have issues? Krylon short cuts will also work straight on the foams.

I bought a foamy plane with an optional float kit. The paint skeems could not be worse! Something has to happen. Going to try this. Thanks.
I'm glad to help Jon! thankyou & Good Luck!

Educational, Informative, Entertaining! 👍
Darryl. . . I'm grateful, thankyou!

wow are you building a C-17 or Galaxy???
Sure, you can always precoat with poly, etc. but people forget how much weight that adds. Not to mention that poly coat is similar to hot glue - it'll get sticky in high heat (aka SouthWest).
Very true!
Do you need to put a protective coating after spraying Liquitex to protect damp conditions? Live in UK and can't get Minwax polycrylic spray but can get brush on liquid if needs it
they also sell them at micheals craft store's. they also sell the different tips for the cans
Very true Darrell, thankyou!
awesome video ..i just ordered a can of...Cadmium Red Medium Hue and IRIDESCENT RICH SILVER....
Thumbs up.. cause the ladys holding planes :>) ..and the stop me from spray paint my new plane ! lol.
Thankyou Booger Boogie!
I thought it was the propellant and not the paint that dissolved styrofoam. What's the propellant in the liquitex? Isobutane is the enemy of foam
Jeeze, all we need to see is the DEMO and the SIDE BY SIDE RESULTS. Folks would not be here if they didn't know the issues with 'regular' spray paints and foam.
Muy bueno espectacular.
Le mando un saludo muy grande desde Buenos Aires Argentina 😃👍👍.

How well does it adhere to the foam? Does it stick pretty well? Have you had any issues with it flaking off?
Thanks for more great info DD! Would you recommend this paint on an xps foam plane that I've just fiberglassed with z-poxy (epoxy) finishing resin? I suppose I'm safe to use an enamel paint now, but should I use this just to be safe? Thanks man
Z-poxy resin should be resistant to any spray paint, but try this stuff to be on the safe side.
This is a really great commercial for liquitex. What's your commission?

Does "RC" mean "Repeat Constantly"...?
lmao true
Remote Control
Thanks for the great tips as always dd!
Happy to share, it's the spirit of RC Aviation!
You should defently use this paint! Thankyou for watching my friend! :)
I can't find ANYBODY selling Liquitex acrylic spray paint........ does it really exist? Even the company that makes it doesn't have it listed. ???????
Thx for the video I tried the paint and it looks great, but the frog tape still took some paint off..
How do you prepare a bare foam plane like EPO to get the paint to stick good?

+F3HDemonDriver what do you use to prepare the surface?
If I'm using Liquitex, nothing, if anything I'll sand the surface smooth and then I paint it.
You should be a salesman for Liquitex!
LOL, Ha, No I'm busy selling my planes etc, but this stuff does work and is foam safe out-of-the-can
some guys here complain its not but the film footage dosn't lie.
Nice!
It's great paint! Safe on any surface.
F3HDemonDriver time to go build a new plane!
Amen!
Wil it work on Polyurethane foam?
sir we have pylox spray paint which is acrylic base spray and it says washable.. does this means it is ok to use it in a styrofoam?..
whatvis the safest styro spray paint...how do u call it..
How do you deal with the cap clogging?
I usually use that Minwax to seal the foam anyways, but after I do that you're saying that I can use spray paint?
Hi Phil I've found that this Liquitex spray paint doesn't hurt foam if you spray it without minwax.
Rc DemonDriver...Thanks so much.I'm one that likes to paint my planes to make them my own, sort of speak, This will cut down a lot of time doing so..:)
Thanks DD!
I'm Honored Bob! This stuff Rocks!
Great video. Where can i get it at
Personally I buy Liquitex and humbrol paint off ebay.
Hey demon! I just wanted to let you know that one I appreciate the RC help you have given me through the videos you make. two I just realized that you subscribed to me and I am really happy about that. third I hope its not too much to ask but do you think you can give me a shoutout of my gaming channel in your video?
I'm Happy to subscribe to you JetFrostGaming!
I'll Give out a Shout Right Now!
Go Check out JetFrostGaming Channel!
thank you so much
Got a unwanted old sticker that I just removed on my b17, now it's leaving a big white gap on the body.
Maybe some foam-safe paint can fill in that spot Cat.
thank you for the video helped a lot
Your very welcome Angelina!
What about epo or z foam or other brand of rc planes that are foam. Thx.
Hi, It seems to be safe on that foam too.
Can you use this on foam core board, without it warping it
I have already and it seems to be fine.
How does the paint hold up if you only land on a grass field?
It should be OK as long as you don't belly land allot.
Okay I'm 8 minutes in and I still haven't seen this product in use.
Thanks for sharing.
My Pleasure Buddy!
Thx buddy.
Anytime Mike! Sharing info grows this hobby!
Would this, persay, protect it? Im building a BB-8 Prop, and the ball is going to be foam, will this keep it from scraping it up?
He is going to actually roll around on concrete and stuff...
It will if you add 4-5 coats, but this paint wont damage the foam ball.
Cool, yes this paint will work Great!
We looked at it already!
liquitex brand? ...is that available here in the philippines...sir?
It might be John, what art stores do you have in the Philippines Sir?
Is it Fuel Proof?
Yes but only if you add several coats of this paint, gas and glow fuel eats away at all paint.
You can also add a clear paint sealer over the liquitex to help protect it from fuel.
The Paint is Called "Liquitex Spray Paint" . . . Will Not Harm Foam!
RC DemonDriver Is
is that too much weight when done though?
no, not if your painting Styrofoam, this paint if pretty light.
The world finds it incredibly annoying how you repeat yourself 74 times of what you're about to do. Just show the dam thing!
No Philip, 75 Times, 75 Times, 75 Times, LOL
enjoy your weekend Sir!
RC DemonDriver Yes I guess I flew off the handle a bit but all in all good demonstration video I did learn something
I'm Glad, sorry If I repeat myself, sadly people don't have long attention spans anymore so you have to repeat oneself or people loose focus.
@@F3HDemonDriver1 That's BS. You assume that everyone has a short attention span? If that were true people would be forever repeating themselves in movies, books, everywhere. Best to explain everything once, then recap at the end.

Did It eat the foam? :))
Three Years Later and it still didn't eat the foam Denis. :)
thanku
My pleasure Sir!
plays like a advert
Perhaps But Liquitex never paid me a single dime for this video, just sharing information in the RC community.
Is this your main source of income? Lol I have to ask
It is indeed Sir! It's what I do 5 days a week!
This should have been a
David . . .how about 2:59? LOL
why do you talk so much? Just paint the foam. Cut the commentary. This video could have been made in half the time.
Just did more looking... this stuff has HORRIBLE REVIEWS. I'll save the 10 bucks thanks.
I think you talk too much for such simple things. It downgrades the content quality. Just focus on what you really do. Watch the video again and you will know what I mean. - Just giving advice!
